Potential new PS3 exclusive game rumored
Apparently there is a rumor doing the rounds on the Internet about a new PS3 exclusive game that may be in the works between Sony London Studios, Sony Liverpool and famed Incognito studio. With Getaway and Eight Days canceled many have been wondering what these studios have been working on.
According to Playstation Lifestyle they are reporting that a new PS3 exclusive game will be announced on August 3rd. Apparently the placeholder title is Hardware 2, an online vehicle mayhem game with massive 100 player matches. Supposedly you get to control tanks, jeeps, trucks and bikes with the objective of blasting the other team mates off the screen.
Hardware Online Arena, a PS2 game received mixed reviews in the past which was developed by London Studios and Hardware 2 is suppose to be the sequel and the spiritual successor to Twisted Metal. With multiplayer veteran Incognito in the mix this game maybe something to keep an eye out for if this rumor turns out to be true.
According to Playstation Lifestyle you will be able to levy buildings and crash them into other vehicles driving in the distance and use the environment to your advantage. The vehicles will be fully customizable from colors, items and weapons.
You can also have teams of up to 50 players totaling 100 players all in one match. It all sounds ambitious and yet so elusive; it will be interesting to see if Sony makes a formal announcement soon. This type of game fits in line with what Sony announced previously about shifting their focus to online community type games.
I have to say I was sorely disappointed when I heard Getaway was canceled because it looked like it had so much potential. Personally I would prefer more emphasis on games with great single player experience with multiplayer components to complement the game rather than these multiplayer only games.

I thought the first one was alright, was pretty funny when someone activated the nuke/big death thing and everyone had to race each other to find cover before it killed everything. Buggies were best.
There seems to be a trend of making online games ‘bigger’. Resistance2, MAG, Hardware2, etc.

i dont know about this. I think I’d agree that I’d rather have a decent single player game and then a good multiplayer component to accompany it. And anyway, the idea doesn’t sound that great. I never played the first one (didnt know it existed) but from the sounds of this, I’m not convinced.
