This generation of consoles is still very much alive and kicking, with many consumers not yet having upgraded to a PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t start thinking about what will come next.

The PS3, the Xbox 360, and the Wii are all fine consoles with some great games available to play on them. But part of me still longs for that bygone era, where other consoles ruled the roost, and filled my days with pleasure.

There has been very little in the way of news regarding a new Halo project that is headed up by Peter Jackson, until now that is. Its been assumed that the development for the game has not yet started and things are sort of in a limbo at this point. Now it seems things might be coming together with some movement in Microsoft’s camp. Full details after the jump.

In a surprising announcement Square Enix is currently in talks with Tecmo over a friendly takeover. It seems more and more giant publishers are attempting to gobble up the smaller publisher/studios. What does this mean for the future of the video game industry.

It’s been well documented how much Sony spent developing the Playstation 3 and bringing it to market. It’s also been well documented that each PS3 console sold actually causes Sony to lose money. But can that $3 billion spent so far on the Playstation 3 ever be made back? And if not, whose fault is that?

It seems Sony is keeping its promise to work more closely with studios and developers, as just this past week we witnessed three new PS3 titles that will be hitting the PSN store soon. These titles range from small bite sized to huge gigabyte titles as well. Details after the jump.

Most people who own a console, be it a PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii will have purchased a second-hand game in the time they have owned their machine. And there’s nothing wrong with that, unless you’re EA.

Just a few days ago we showed a scan of a Radioshack flyer indicating a price drop for the Xbox 360 and now there is more evidence that this covert price drop will happen very soon. At this point you could consider the price drop practically official. Details after the jump.

Consoles have often lived and died by the exclusives that the manufacturers have secured for them, but that era is now coming to an end. One universal console may be nowhere nearer to happening, but it looks as though the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii will be sharing more games in the future than ever before.
