Square Enix swings favor back to PS3 with exclusive Final Fantasy XIII news
Square Enix is currently holding their ridiculously named DKΣ3713 party event in Japan. If you recall my previous article where Square Enix hinted at E3 the pendulum will swing in Sony’s favor at their Square Enix party. Well it has, sort of, kind of, okay maybe somewhat.
Many have speculated that this surprise would come in the form of a new PS3 exclusive game, some have even speculated the game would be a remake of Final Fantasy VII. I don’t quite know about that, you really think Square Enix would spend time remaking a popular classic? Okay, they just might they have been seeing green lately.
So, everyone’s been waiting in suspense for the big news and finally today Square Enix revealed the big surprise for the PS3 is an exclusive Final Fantasy XIII demo included in a copy of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in hi-definition Blu-ray.
Okay, I know you were expecting more but for those that love the movie can now buy the ‘complete’ version along with a playable demo of Final Fantasy XIII how cool is that? The release date for this is March of 2009 which is right around the corner.
I suppose this is a clear indication the game is practically finished and ready to ship as soon as Square Enix feels like it. Seriously though, personally yes its awesome news, but it was nothing to get all excited over. If they really did remake Final Fantasy VII that would have been insane.
I suppose we should put that in our rumor bin for now, or will we? DKΣ3713 ends tomorrow and I’m sure more news will be released then but don’t hold your breath on a Final Fantasy VII remake news.
If they actually announce some sort of news like that well, I think I’ll just have to run outside stark naked raving mad.

Oh my God I can’t believe your getting excited about a feature that was sported by HD DVD before it all ended. Certain movies on HD DVD did include inbedded games on the disk. This is nothing new as bluray is playing catch up in the feature department that HD DVD dominated when they were around. Thing$ that make you go Hummmmmm.

their not getting excited by the feature. Its the game INSIDE the feature thats getting them excited.

lol… ff8 remake?.. i think you mean FFVII. don’t get me wrong. FFVIII was a great game, but it’s not a classic like seven

Misleading headlines. Square-Enix i think favor always PS3, the reason they doing this is for Final Fantasy VIII: Advent Children to sell more and advertise Final Fantasy XIII a bit. They only making FFXIII for the Xbox 360 a year after the PS3 version which is not going to be dumbed down like the Xbox 360 version. This is a business so Microsoft pay them a lot of money to at least get FFXIII some day after every single PS3 owner enjoy it first than Xbox 360waiting owners. Every single RPG from Square-Enix is coming to PLAYSTATION 3 soon. Final Fantasy XIII will out sometimes in 2009 for PS3 only but is still not near complete. Xbox 360 owners might see their version in 2011.

I already have Advent Children on DVD, but I’m going to pick this up anyway. I seem to be the only person on Blorge who loves the FF games.

Royzy, I love the FF games too, and am happy that FF13 is making it’s way onto 360. We can all enjoy it now.

Phewww, I have a FF friend on Blorge. And yes, we certainly can.

I noticed a typing error in your article:
“If they really did remake Final Fantasy VIII that would have been insane.”
It should have been:
“If they really did remake Final Fantasy IX that would have been insane.”
or
“If they really did remake Final Fantasy VI that would have been insane.”

Mike Ferro,
Not only have you completely ignored the previously reported news that Square Enix WILL be making a big FFVII-related announcement that WILL NOT concern Advent Children, but you also referred to FFVII as FFVIII THREE TIMES!
…
I’ve been staring at this article, and I think it just needs to be taken down. There’s no saving it and it has no redeeming value.

There’s so many bloody confusing FF series. As a person with absoloutly no experience as a player of a single FF game, with no idea of the story, characters and gameplay do you think its worth me buying the following games about to be released?

So like what, two people one this site actually care about this?
Big whoop…
*yawn*

Anyone who says that they are not even somewhat interested in FFXIII are missing out.
August 3rd, 2008
I would say that depends on the types of games you like to play…

Bourne, each number on the end of Final Fantasy games (VII, VIII, IX, X, etc) represents a different universe. So if you buy ‘XIII’, you haven’t missed any story. It’s a completely new one. Hope that helps.
