Rockstar haven’t started on exclusive PS3 game or Xbox 360 GTA IV DLC
By Mike Ferro
It seems like the promised exclusive downloadable Grand Theft Auto IV content for the Xbox 360 most likely won’t be hitting the marketplace anytime soon, and the same goes for the exclusive new game Rockstar has planned for the PS3 as well. Then what in the world is Rockstar doing right now?
What was the big hint that gave it away, Grand Theft Auto IV exclusive DLC is still in fairly infant form? The interview with Niko Bellic;s voice actor Michael Hollick at Comic-Con gave it away. According to Gametrailers interview with famed voice actor he hasn’t even started recording for the DLC yet and it’s August already. It looks like the DLC won’t be coming out this year, maybe sometime in 2009?
Microsoft has teased us with the promise of DLC for GTA IV but it’s been fairly under-hyped much like Alan Wake which has gone MIA since E3 of 2007. I’m sure it’s coming but the million dollar question on everyone’s mind is when.
Another Rockstar related story that has to do with ‘dragging feet’ is the Rockstar exclusive game for the PS3. As some of you may know Rockstar and Sony have an agreement for a new “franchise” that will be exclusive to the PS3. Who said 3rd party exclusives were dead?
When Gametrailers had the chance to ask Jack Tretton head of Sony Computer Entertainment of America this is what he had to say about the exclusive franchise between Sony and Rockstar:
“we’ve talked about different properties, but we haven’t honed in on one that we are both excited about, to say yea.. that’s the one.”
Ah, that sounds to me like they haven’t even started developing the dastardly game.
So, I come back to my question if Rockstar is not working feverishly on either the Microsoft GTA IV DLC, or the PS3 exclusive game what in the world are they up to right now?

Can they not do the graphics work without a voice actor. How long does it take a voice actor to do his bit. A week? 2 weeks? Is it much more?

Too busy counting their money.

a new PS3 exclusiv franchise?
ooo thats news to me. Sounds interesting. Hopefully something new and original and NOT a GTA clone. I mean GTAIV was good but did anyone else find it a little underwhelming? It just didnt feel GTA-ish (excuse my made up words) at all. Where were the tanks? The jetpacks? The over the top characters and pretty shameful (yet hilarious) graphics?
But still anything from Rockstar is usually a critic pleaser and a good seller so HOPEFULLY it should be good. IF they ar working on it :/

Rockstar San Diego makes Midnight Club not Rockstar North. But definitely working on something trust me, maybe a PSP GTA: San Andreas Stories.

@ Ivan_PSP
Now that, a GTA San Andreas Stories, would be sweet… Like “Sweet’s” Stories

I remember when Vista Ultimate was released, and Microsoft promised all sorts of exclusive content free to download, therefore justifying the outrageous pricetag. And what did the suckers get, a lame ass poker game.
I hope all the X360 owners didn’t get suckered in like Vista purchases did.
August 12th, 2008
Of course they did
I’m glad I stayed away from the 360 version because I really don’t think I would want the DLC. I haven’t even finished the main game yet because I got so bored, its just gathering dust…
But I am sure there are plenty of owners out there who are craving more GTA goodness (because they are fun for a while at least!) and they will get thier chance whenever rockstar decides to release it

GTAIV is boring. Overhyped, underwhelming & monotonous, I was thrilled to finish and eject it, never to be played again. Graphically poor, shallow gameplay, glitchy - just not a good game. Is there really anyone that’s dying to play DLC? Maybe you can drive a car from one place to another again. Sweet.

pfreak:
GTA IV was and still is the greatest game ever made. Is perfect in graphics great story a must have. DLC is useless.

Pfreak,
I’m surprised at how many people online and IRL seem to agree with that sentiment. I haven’t played it myself, though. I don’t care for gratuitous sex and violence in my games or movies.

Pfreak i totally agree, i just tryed playing it again after about 2 months not playing it and i still couldn’t get into it. It’s so repetitive and annoying. The DLC would be a total waste of time unless they do something ground breaking. The multiplayer is pretty crap as well.
