GC 2008: New Far Cry 2, Overlord 2 and Fuel info
By Mike Ferro
New info about three up and coming games have been revealed during the pre-show of Game Convention(GC) at Leipzig. Details about Far Cry 2, Overlord II and a new massive game titled Fuel gets the royal unveiling at GC. There is a nice slew of news tidbits coming out of GC before it gets into full swing. Details after the jump.
Far Cry 2 - Map editor unveiled
At GC Ubisoft unveiled and demonstrated the map editor for Far Cry 2. I’m really excited about this feature as it allows countless additional play time just by trying new and unique maps. I’m huge fan of map editors so this is a big win for me. The map editor is the full deal you can build a map from scratch unlike that abomination Bungie gave us in Halo 3. The map editor is available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Overlord II - officially unveiled
Codemasters brought you Overlord and Overlord: Raising Hell the expansion pack to the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 and now it has been announced the sequel is heading to your nearest console soon. Triumph Studios the developers of the original Overlord game is currently in development to bring the next iteration to their franchise, promising larger environments and elements to the game.
There will be new lands such as the icy glacier country of Norberg. You will also control a new Overlord in the sequel.
Fuel - officially unveiled
This game has officially been unveiled at the pre-GC event where developers discuss in an interview the details of this new and intriguing game. The developers promise a massive world (5,000 virtual square miles) where multiple opponents can race each other and take any path they wish within the map with no invisible walls to box users in.
There are tornados(see picture) and storms that can tear you apart, with appealing element of dynamic environments this game looks promising. Think Motorstorm but on a much grandiose level. With an interesting concept I am sure players will want to get their Doritos stained hands on it.
