Mirrors Edge PS3 exclusivity claim in question

A few days ago I reported a story where a German site was reporting that Dave Reeves the head honcho of Sony Europe confirmed Mirrors Edge will we a timed exclusive for the PS3. Now a New Zealand site is refuting these claims, hit the jump for details.
I was cautious when I reported this story a few days ago for good reason because an exclusive announcement would have been perfect for a surprise during the press conference instead of blurting it out to a German site.
However I cannot be the judge to how a person’s mind might work, Reeves might have thought the news was already known or that it wasn’t press conference worthy. It could also be the case, where what Reeves said just got misinterpreted due to the language barrier, as I have indicated in my previous story.
The New Zealand site that is refuting this claim is Button Masher, who allegedly have gotten a statement from EA stating:
Mirror’s Edge will be shipping this winter on PS3, XBOX360 and PC. Mirror’s Edge will not be a timed exclusive for PS3.
Seems pretty straight forward right? I don’t quite think so, it is hard believing an exec for a major CE company could make such a huge blunder.
Just what is exactly going on here? Did the German site misinterpret, or does Reeves not know what games his company has exclusive or is there a deal being worked out behind closed doors that the EA PR rep is unaware of?
There are so many questions and very little in the way of an answer. The best solution is to get to the bottom of what the original person said. In this case that would be Dave Reeves.
As of this writing I have contacted Sony asking them to clarify this story, hopefully we can get some type of clarification this coming week. Stay tuned folks.

I’ve heard that Reeves has said things like this that have turned out to be false in the past. Apparently a lot of people were questioning the truth of the “timed exclusivity” statement just because Reeves was the one saying it.

Sony should make Blu-ray toilet paper and books. I will buy it even if is not made in full HD lol.
