Microsoft Xbox 360′s ‘Nickel and Dime’ model better than PS3 business model
The Xbox 360 lineup recently received a price drop across the board, with the Arcade model dropping to $200. The reason why Microsoft has been able to issue such a drastic price drop to its system is due to their business model. In contrast, Sony’s business model for the PS3 differs sharply from that of Microsoft’s.
Peter Moore recently had an interview with the Guardian, where he explains the business decision not to include a hard drive with every Xbox 360. The decision was based on cost and previous experience with the original Xbox. With a lower initial build cost, the potential to lower the price in the future would be easier.
Microsoft decided to build their video game system with the bare essentials and sell accessories around the system. Essentially, this business model is similar to Apple’s iPod model. Accessories contribute to a huge chunk of the profits for Apple and with a huge profit margin and excellent marketing, accessories became an essential product.
In a similar fashion, Microsoft built the Xbox 360 lineup banking on the lowest denominator; the Xbox 360 Core (now Arcade). The Xbox 360 Arcade is Microsoft’s bare-bone system with no hard drive, no headset and no Ethernet cable. These accessories are all included in the Elite and Premium Xbox 360 models.
Also, there are several other accessories that all of the Xbox 360 models lack which most consumers will definitely need, such as the wireless Internet adapter, which currently retails for $100. Most consumers who purchase the Xbox 360 will keep it in the living room and since the majority of the houses in the US are not pre-wired with Ethernet cable, the wireless adapter is a necessity.
Many consumers who have purchased the new Arcade model are starting to realize the lack of several other vital features. Currently Microsoft is heavily advertising the Arcade model for $200 with every Rock Band commercial. However, consumers who purchase the Xbox 360 Arcade and Rock band will quickly find out that without a hard drive those downloadable tracks and video game demos will not fit on the small flash memory included with the Arcade model.
This will in turn force consumers to go out and purchase a Microsoft OEM hard drive. Currently, the only Xbox 360 hard drive listed on the official Xbox website is the 120GB hard drive for $149.99.
As far as hard drives are concerned there is only one choice for consumers as third party hard drives will not only void your warranty but also require some modification to work with your Xbox 360. This was very clever on Microsoft’s part, ensuring that most non-computer savvy consumers will eventually buy the Microsoft OEM hard drive at a substantial markup.
This was a great business strategy for Microsoft because it allows for lower manufacturing cost, as well as creating an opportunity to earn profit from customers that eventually buy the necessary hardware to support the software. The PS3 is losing money on every unit because it has everything, including the kitchen sink. The PS3 has an integrated next gen Blu-ray player, hard drive and wireless Internet adapter in every model.
It will be interesting to see how quickly Sony can reach break even costs with the PS3.

Thanks for noticing that the PLAYSTATION 3 is the only gaming system that has everything include at no extra cost the ultimate gaming dream machine. Xbox has always been a failure.
September 22nd, 2008
Definitely a good model. If it’s just an average gamer who wants a standalone hi-def games machine, then they’ll pick the arcade model. Their offline gaming experience would equal anyone else’s, and they’re only paying $200. If they want to go online, they still can, but to download demos etc they just need to buy a hard drive (if he was smart, he’d buy it from ebay for a song).
It is a surprise the amount of people on both sides of the fence who only use their system for offline gaming. They have no need for wireless integration, massive hard drives etc. Microsoft has catered for these people by giving them what they need and not packaging everything in.
September 22nd, 2008
I don’t know about you, but my ultimate gaming machine would have to have games to go along with it…fanboy troll to the end huh? Seeing as this article is about marketing models, I would have to agree that Microsoft has done a great job. Additionally, the 360 has the highest software attachment rate of any next gen console, comparable to the PS2, and is the easiest console to develop for. People once thought that no one but Sony or Nintendo could own the gaming market for so long with the failure of Amiga, 3DO, Sega, etc.. In just its second attempt MS has taken control of a huge chunk of the gaming market. I think it is interesting how people will accept Ipod’s nickle and diming yet condemn Microsoft for following Apple’s example.

Sony definitely knew they would sell fewer consoles by including the Blu-Ray player, but let’s not forget that the PS3 may have been responsible for Blu-Ray’s victory over HD-DVD.
So when you compare the business models, you have to take into account the advantages Sony got by winning the hi-def format war.
Now that Blu-Ray has won, Sony probably stands to gain more by offering a PS3 sans Blu-Ray player at the lowest price they can afford – I wonder if they will.

“Xbox 360 models lack that most consumers will definitely need, such as the wireless Internet adapter”…omg i’ve been gaming since 2007 without a wireless adapter…how am I able to play online without a wireless adapter…i must be really good….
September 22nd, 2008
Spot on Kmach. No matter what Microsoft did, people would still hate them for some reason.
September 22nd, 2008
Because they do everything wrong that is why Microsoft is hated by the entire globe. Plus their customer service rep can’t speak English right.
September 22nd, 2008
these xbox fanboys is either blind or stupid.. i think the later, how can u justify paying a $150 for a 120 gig hdd.. didnt know hdd have going up on prices or maybe is only cater for xbox users.. this is robbing $ not selling..idoits

I agree i got an HDD for my original (60 GB) PLAYSTATION®3 from eBay for less than $50 with maximum storage of 250 Gigabytes. I own an Xbox 360 also but is just collecting dust.
September 22nd, 2008
Ivan_PSP havent I seen you post on other websites as well? Arnt you that person who thinks every console is a failure but the PS3? The 360 has a larger library than the ps3 and a far superior online service and if any console is a failure its the ps3.
It was meant to destroy all compettition like the ps2 did but look at which console is soaring in the lead and leaving the ps3 covered in dust?
Sony also loses money on every ps3 sold and im sure that youve heard sony does not expect to make up those loses in the ps3′s life time. You have the nerve to say the 360 is a failure when it has actualy just started to turn a profit.
What next? “In terms of sales the wii is a failure” I wouldn’t put it past you.
September 22nd, 2008
This is in my mind a evil business model. You play with the psychology of low IQ people; they end up paying more in the end. I wish people could use their mind just little more to see what they are paying for:
– a low quality product, which breaks, scratches the disks
- paying extra for going online
- damn noisy
- no blu ray
- no wireless card
- even no gigabit ethernet
- no bluetooth
- no motion sensor
- no HDMI 1.3
- no optical out
- no third party hdd
Do we live in a stone age?

More dribble.
The PS3 is doing fine.
Say goodbye to America!

I write facts on other site sometimes once in a blue moon i write on Videogamer.com CVG and Wired. PSN is way better than Xbox Live so go fuck yourself fanboy.
MK:
Thanks for noticing amazing jaw dropping mind blowing success.
gammer:
Thanks for noticing great hardware value. I love your question LoL. Do we live in a stone age? Xbox owner do with the exception of me of course.
Grote Friet:
Xbox 360 owner are just bitter because they don’t get what PS3 owner do. What may that be you may ask well a superior gaming system with nothing missing. The Xbox 360 will cost almost twice as the PS3 with everything. No Xbox 360 model have media card slot you need your own USB card reader.
September 22nd, 2008
I don’t think it’s a great buisness model for Microsoft to ream consumers at every oppertunity.
I think most consumers are smart enough to see that the Wii is fun, and the PS3 is the proper fully spec’d gaming system, the 360 is the ugly sister than cannot decide what it wants to be. Last year it wanted to be a movie player like the PS3, until HD DVD died, now it does not it wants to “focus on gaming, as that what it’s all about”. however it wants to focus on gaming with no standard HDD, and compete with the Wii at the same time.. A VERY confused console is the 360. Combine that with it’s horrendous relability and poor quality/noisy components even when it does work. you would have to be mad to buy one.
September 22nd, 2008
I have always figured, XBox is for the dumb trailer-trash types, who are not smart enough to see they are being fooled by cheap buy-in and then getting constantly ripped of for required extras.
Who on earth would buy a 360 Arcade anyway? It’s so gimped it’s unbelivable, you would be better off buying a Wii, it’s more fun. Who on earth would buy a 360 Elite? It’s a poormans PS3.

Patima:
You dumb stupid idiot no one here has ever said that so shut the fuck up. Digital Download will be the future when they make an error prove hard drive with 1 Terabyte and corruption with no over heating at an affordable price. And there is not enough fast high bandwidth for digital downloads. Most companies are putting restriction too much downloading so disc will always be the future. Blu-ray Disc is great every single company seems to love it. Plus who in that hell needs more than 50 GB.
Mark:
Microsoft just wants money but they suck at that. They are COPYCATS they enter the gaming business because of Sony they enter the music business because of Apple they car about the searching and advertising business because Google and Yahoo are making billions and they not. They started caring about Internet Explorer now that there is huge competition Mozilla Firefox is taking over the web browsing business. Xbox is a failure just losing money. Windows Vista sucks is bloated full of useless crap.
September 22nd, 2008
@mk:
“Xbox360 got old and cheap to fastâ€
your right
@johnson
“Let`s not forget the 360 debuted only 1 year before the ps3????”
that explains exactly why the 360 has more games and exclusives to start with. How can a game be multplatform when theres no other consoles to compete released?
both consoles has ups and downs. the ps3 has everythng out of the box but is more expensive. the 360 has missing accessories but is cheaper.
in my opinion the ps3 is stll a better choice when t comes to price but thats is because i would rather have everything where’s others may not need everything and so the 360 may be the better choice. you see what im sayng lol
theres realy nothing wrong with both systems when it comes to price but technology wise, the ps3 comes ontop by a long way!
September 22nd, 2008
@Patima:
“let`s go buy a psp? but wait, i can`t do anything but play games”
So, you buy a PSP (which is a gaming machine), and you can only play games on it… That sounds pretty fair to me. The PSP’s come with 32MB MS DUO card, more than enough for gamesaves. If you want to use it for movies and music too, then you have to buy a $50 4GB MS DUO card.
If Sony had forced a 4GB MS DUO on everyone, and raised the price accordingly, you would surely be the first to be complaining about it.
What Sony do with the PSP, is called CHOICE. What Microsoft have done with the 360 is called suicide. By not including a HDD on every single 360, and making it optional, they have gimped EVERY 360..
September 22nd, 2008
@Patima,
Your wrong dude, Sandisk, Kingston, PNY all make Memory Sticks that work on the PSP.
I wouldn’t quite compare a handheld to a console either, its an apples to orange type comparison.

oh by the way, Im not the same “Mark” as the guy who posted above me… lowercase “m” ;P
September 22nd, 2008
The PlayStation brand is the best it has already deliver great gaming consoles which are all reliable and true next gen innovator. With PS1 we had great games on Compact CD with PS2 DVD and free online gaming. With PS3 we have the new next gen movie drive Blu-ray and and great free online service that has everything Xbox Live has but free and better. Also PS3 has the most audio and video codec. Plus Sony was the first company to come out with a camera. and the bring a free web browser great for watching Youtube videos or checking emails.
The Xbox brand reminds people of misery and bad hardware failure and huge money losses.
September 22nd, 2008
i just bought a samsung 500 gig hdd for $200 australian, now for me to buy a 500gig hdd drive from ms i need to pay $800 australian.. who’s the idiots around here… i could buy a wii, xbox360 for that $.. what’s worst all xbox360 games is going to have the option of installing into the hdd, much like the ps3 atm.. u better start saving some $ for those hdd..

This need to buy a Wireless adapeter is foolish. Anyone who has a Wireless connection in their home obviously has a laptop. Your laptop will act as a wireless adapter.

September 22nd, 2008
I have done it and it works.
September 22nd, 2008
Its surprising how this article makes Microsofts fleecing of consumers by making them buy add ons for even basic gaming seem like a positive move that other businesses should take note of. I would prefer my money to go to a company thats trying to deliver a finished product and not part of an ever expanding setup.
September 22nd, 2008
Yeah, let’s use a $600 Laptop as a Wifi card instead of the $100 adapter eh?
Ridiculous…
When all is said and done, The PS3, even when compared with the bare bone 360 Arcade, is of a much better value. And if you take in account HD movies (Blu Ray), it’s a no brainer.
September 22nd, 2008
I can’t believe anyone can actually support MS on this. The article is 100% correct. MS nickels and dimes it’s consumers, and you fucking sheep just say “thank you sir may I have another!!!”….Which is exactly what you would need to since the hardware is completely fucked. One would think that you own MS stock. If not why the insane MS defense? They simply represent the worst of the worst when it comes to anti competitive big business. The Justice department wanted to fuck them over for good reasons.
September 22nd, 2008
It’s a business model I support. When compared to sony it is genius. Do you want to loose Billions to have a customer play your games or do you plan on being profitable. For those who are smart you know the answer. For those siding with Sony your tunnel vision is amazing. Microsoft can do so much more for it’s consumer by staying profitable. Look how many times goodies have come 360′s way in terms of exclusive dowloadable content, stealing exclusives that once belonged to Sony, Games that come out long before they make it to PS3. Exclusive time locks on certain games like Rockband. A way bigger game library coupled with Movies/TV downloads. Also dashboard updates that change the gaming experience. Sony is struggeling to catch up with every update and is only playing the same game as of recently because Microsoft has bitch slaped them how many time already. By breaking it down and seperating the cost it appeals to those who don’t have $700 (price at release) to drop on a machine and even at that price it was selling at a loss and any price cut is not because they want to do it due to development cost reduction, it’s because they would have lost even greater market share had they not drop the price. Sony bacically is hurting itself and is not in a good position for the future. Thanks to Moore we now know why it’s better and I’m glad Microsoft learned from the original Xbox which was a amazing machine.
September 22nd, 2008
My country cousins love the 360 Arcade! They have no internet access, so they really have no need for the hard drive or Wi-fi that Sony forces on them. They could use Satellite for downloads, but it’s not possible to seriously play online with it. Plus, low end HDTV still costs almost $1000. People will be using SD tubes for years, especially in the kids room, so why blu-ray.
Most average American families work minimum wage jobs and just can’t afford things like HD TV’s and internet. It was nice of Microsoft to consider what a regular person would need rather then requiring them to buy elite.
Also, to the person who said a PS might come out that uses DVD. I don’t think they can since they require all PS3 games to be on Blu-ray discs.
September 22nd, 2008
@CAD.
I don’t understand why you are so anti consumer. Unless you own stock or you’re an executive employee for MS you should not feel that way. It screams fanboyism. MS has yet to make a profit on the Xbox brand, contradicting your whole argument as to where that money they bilk from you is going (timed exclusives, and stealing exclusives)
Any money they make on the unfair bilking of their fan base was dwindled away on repairs to fix their hardware problems anyway. (1.5 billion!!!!!)
MS is the richest company in the world due to Windows. That’s the money they are using to buy exclusives and timed exclusives.
Sony is using a different strategy this generation. They are willing to lose big time on the hardware costs, to make up for it on blu-ray royalties.
@Ned.
of course the arcade will be good for some people. I wouldn’t however try and spit on the “internet” and “HDTV’s” to defend that stance. Kind of sounds silly. most peoples argument as to why the 360 is better than the ps3 derives from online play..hence internet.
The last time I went into Best Buy they has NO standard def TV’s at all. Maybe you could get them online or something, but all display models were HDTV’s.
I’m sorry the world is moving on faster than your country cousins.

CAD: “Microsoft can do so much more for it’s consumer by staying profitable.”
LOL, Microsoft has lost 10x more money on Xbox that Sony has lost on Playstation. Whilst PS3 may still be a year or so from profitability, the PS2 and PSP have been extremely profitable for a long time now.
What has Microsoft got? Zune… LOL..
Xbox has lost Microsoft over $8Billion. Sure Microsoft will post quarter profit reports, but that is simply to fool the trailer-trash. They hid their RROD losses, 360 development costs, and even selected manufacturing costs in the previous financial year..
Patima:
“why the fuk don`t ps3 today have full backward compatability?”
Because people like you cried they could not afford them on your crappy wages.
September 22nd, 2008
johnson:
PS3 has a higher attach rate. Of course some stupid trailer-trash get fooled as attach rates are directly proportional to how long the console has been on the market.
At the point where 360 has been available twice as long as the PS3, the PS3 has the marginally better attach rate.
September 22nd, 2008
What kind of a bullshitting article is this?
The idiot who wrote this seemed to have forgotten that the PS3 offers you a free choice of upgrading to any harddrive you want to use, allows you to use any universal bluetooth headset and comes in one package for $399.99. How is Microsoft’s business model a good thing when the consumer may want those extra accessories but they’ll soon realize that they have to pay for those things?
September 22nd, 2008
@mookins.
I think like CAD, the articles author was looking at in from more of a executive business point of view, rather than a customer friendly point of view.
By reading the article in only helped to further my hate for Microsoft. I’m guessing that wasn’t the intention……
September 22nd, 2008
so what is the 360 is only 200$?? Why would u waste yr money on a console only worth 200!! Haven’t you fools ever heard ‘you only get what you pay for’. And in this day and age 200$ will NOT get you top quality tech products. Good business model you say?? Yeah sure if you objective is to screw yr customers over, but then again in America this is easy to, as so many of you dont have a clue anyway. USA USA USA!!! Pfft dont make me even mroe sick than I already am!!
September 22nd, 2008
Are you retarded Ivan_PSP?
September 22nd, 2008
Ok People don’t exagerate the losses. Microsoft is soon to turn a profit so stop with the lies already. Microsoft is no where in the hole like Sony is all because they wanted to Push Bluray as a format. In March they were 3.3 Billion in the hole and one developer said they have lost more money then they made with the PS2 in it’s entire lifespan by producing the PS3 and those losses are balloning not receeding. It was over ambitious and it put the PS3 as the most expensive Game console of all time which is unheard of compared to every other console that came before it.
September 22nd, 2008
I would bring it down to a this,
lets fight it out. Lets go to a place, shoot each other and whoever team survives be that ps3 or xbox thats the winner, shall we?
Guys look, they all want our money, apple, microsoft, sony, nintendo, is just how hard they are willing to work for it and how much they want to rob us. 1 stop, sony. This company has become the target of so many people for things they did in the past that sure hurt them, but whatever the case might be, people who claim the ps3 is expensive are flat out wrong. It is proven that the ps3 sells at a lost, whatever you are paying for is backed up in hardware cost, thats proven. So if you consider it expensive, yeah, get a real job and stop bashing on the internet, but is not.The iphone was robbery, cost media reported that it cost apple about 249 dollars and yet they were selling it for 600 and then came the price cut after the news surge on the internet. x360 is more about volume and flexibility. Look, we live in the states but 4 other billion people dont what does that mean?
If you ever traveled to outer parts of the world or even this same country, you would see that homes are very different. Some people here have the moeny to through in a wireless but in other places thats not even heard of so microsoft did this, they would get some consoles sold, not us the hardcore but people who only care for cassual playing. in the end, you get what you pay for, thats what it is.
I however do consider it stupid that people backup microsoft on the prices of the accessories for the 360. basically you could see how much the ps3 is really worth if you ever tried to acomodate a 360 to have the specs of a ps3. I have macbook pro, sony vaio tz running vista, ps3,psp 360 and played on a wii, iphone and I could tell you guys what I just said. I travel arround and I have seeing first hand all that I accounted for in this post. Apple is by far the greates company I have bough from for the same reason I think sony might just come on top with the ps3, Reliability. you guys dont see it but when 360′s and wii’s are gone, the ps3 will still be at large, and at the end, might just keep selling and selling till it ejaculate to the first place. Guys thnk wisely do not defend this companies. Paying to play online is gay, everything free is a plus, ok.
If you cant afford something, don’t say is expensive, is just out of your league.
September 22nd, 2008
Microsoft Business Model is Microsoft exclusive, however, cannot compare to PS3, as Xbox 360 success after launching ahead of everybody else, have not gained ground as much as expected. The price drop and etc is to play catch up to sound financial planning, but does expose Microsoft gnashing of their teeth for WII and PS3 sales volume.
Xbox 360 still have plenty of Technical Issues, and still have piles of rework unit return from customer, even as of now, and along with manufacturing issues, Microsoft is till bleeding..but to be Number 1, you will need to sacrifice to get there and Microsoft can do that with large money pool.
As a Conclusion, I am not sure if 360 Business model is better than anyone else….Maybe someone else can find a better reason.

PS3 is the only real winner. All Xbox 360 owners with the exception of me are bitter and started saying anything that will make Microsoft’s Xbox look good. Xbox 360 as a complete gaming console it has failed. PS3 will soon pass Microsoft’s Xbox sold units and become 2nd.
September 22nd, 2008
Mmm… you know ? it’s true… We Xbox 360 owners don’t get what PS3 owners got… Tons of EA games !!! that’s just great, take them all, please !! The only game from EA that I really like is Fifa (well and EA-published Burnout Paradise).
I think the business model is sometimes annoying because you truly don’t get everything the PS3 has, but hey ! I have 2 Elites at home, one for me and one for my brother (I even have a sad Wii…) and we played them a lot. I think the gaming experiences we get with them are something we could never ever get on the PS3 with the current software library, maybe in a few years…
Sony had to focus on games instead of thinking how to win the HD format war.
And I almost forgot, that Ivan_PSP is sooooo sad…
September 22nd, 2008
By the way it has been reported that the PS3′s software has been making up for the losses per console for the last few months. Sure it hasn’t made up the 3 billion, but it doesn’t have to make up all that money. Sony makes royalties on all blu-ray movies and games. Also, if you buy a PS3 you may just go out and buy a Bravia or some other Sony TV to play it on at some point. Not to mention the PS2 and PSP making them money. Unlike MS, Sony has different avenues to help out their gaming division. Everything comes full circle in their electronics department.
As far as MS’s business model goes, it’s great for them, but sucks for consumers!
September 22nd, 2008
Sorry Phranctoast,
I really don’t care that your put that article up but I got a Beef with this site about doing that.

Shouldn’t the most consumer friendly business model be regarded as the best. I don’t want to pat a company on the back for finding a way to nickel and dime me to death. Lets celebrate companies who will develop a quality product, sell it at a lose, and guarantee my investment will be supported for 10 years. Think like the consumer.
September 22nd, 2008
@jham
As far as the EA comment that is great!
I do love Burnout Paradise though, and I feel a little dirty every time I play it. Cause I can not stand EA! *smile*
———————————————–
It really does not matter what we all say, or even think about the console war. Every big corporation wants your money, and pulling for Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo to win a console ‘war’ is silly. There will be no clear cut winner this generation. Except maybe Nintendo with the DS and Wii.
I have all three current consoles, and I will say that my 360 gets the most work.
MY ORDER OF ENJOYMENT:
1. Xbox 360
2. Wii
3. PS3
Frankly, I really don’t have to even give you guys a reason or try to justify the way I spent MY MONEY!!!
One other thing you can not argue with an opinion.

I own an Xbox 360 jackasses stop bikcering just because you can get a PS3. Most Xbox owner just like lying and crying.

I want to say for those who complain about the xbox 360 being noisy! THATS NOT THE CASE NO MORE. I just bought the arcade system three weeks ago (I own three xboxs now) and its quite like a mouse. You don’t even know its ON. You can scratch that one off your list.

It’s definitely a business model that succeeds with low IQ people who cant do math.
Want to play Xbox360 games online and download “free” demos using wireless?
Minimum first year cost: $490
Minimum annual cost: $40
After 5 years: $650
How about doing all the above (with less lag) and getting the world’s highest performing 1080P blu-ray player as well as blue-tooth, in-game keyboard and mouse support, internet web browsing, etc…
Minimum first year cost: $399
Minimum annual cost: $0
After 5 years: $399
Savings from buying a PS3 instead of 360: $250

what do you mean “Most Xbox owner just like lying and crying?” You’re just about the only person I know that hates Xbox to the point of looking like a dick. Seriously, it one thing to make (stupid) accusations toward a console, and it’s another to look like a dumbass when you insult Xbox owners.
Get this into your head, then never return to the internet again:
PS3: Higher price, more features such as Blu-ray, and Wifi. Not many good games yet.
Xbox 360: Lower price, better line-up of games (so far). Games are great on it, you can’t deny that. The old ones were unreliable, but the newer ones are good. I got mine with Halo 3 last year, and I’ve had no problems with it yet.

PS3 is full of hot exclusive games. Xbox games suck.

Minimum cost $490?!?!?! hahahaha man you PS3 fanboys are really reaching.

@Patima and CAD
Look at you two, you guys sound like the sons of Jay Allard and Kim Lee. Either that or you guys must own a good amount of stock from Microsoft. Why else would you defend your mother-ship so vigorously?. You two are true MS patriots, no matter how obvious statistics look, you just give your back to them and take it up the ass.
What happen to your logic, how did you loose it?
Microsoft, Sony, Apple, and Nintendo are all out for our money, they all have rotten business practices, but Microsoft really takes it to the next level, and charging for on-line has got to be the most grotesque form of Nickle and dimming.
CAD, Patima……. Stop sucking Major Nelson’s penis, its not going to make your gaming experience better, its only going to make it easier for MS to bitch slap you in the face.
Make a stand and complain about their business practices, tell’em you want:
-an affordable Wi-Fi adapter
-free online gaming(like everyone else)
-Universal HDD compatibility
-give you Geometry Wars for free(like it was intended by the Dev)
-Fix their fucked up hardware issues
-upgrade to HDMI 1.3
-come up with original software
-stop imitating the competition
-best of all, tell them MS executives to respect you as an avid customer. Not like a crack addict that will suck penis and takes it on the rectum just to get its everyday XBOX live fix.

Jordan,
Who are you trying to convince? Them, or yourself?
September 22nd, 2008
Yeah Xbox l360 is lacking in so many features and hardware and games.
September 22nd, 2008
Yeah Xbox 360 is lacking in so many features and hardware and games and reliability. I’m in the process of buying another Xbox 360 and my second 60GB PS3. I hope Microsoft give me some good games all i want this year is Fable 2 for Xbox.

Hey, I know this is your first time but please try to refrain from posting whole articles from other sites into the comments section.
I don’t mind if you paste quotes or link it.
@CAD,
It would be good for you not to provoke me, nothing good will come from it.
You guys are all bringing up some good points from both sides.
Just remember to keep it friendly, we are all fellow gamers that love video games.

Microshit makes so much money cause they profit from so many dumb consumers. Why not milk them for anything they can like selling them outrageously overpriced accessories, unreliable hardware and half ass software. I’m sure all them poor people who love Microshit were also duped into buying Vista. Ahahahahaha, Dumbfucks. Why would anyone trust a software company to make them a gaming machine anyways. Sony and nintendo have been making electronics for years.

CAD,
Do you let your little brother use your name to post sometimes? Your maturity level fluctuates often.
Mike wasn’t threatening you, just stating the obvious.

The arcade version has nothing to offer even if it was at $100. MS say they have a good business model yet they build arcade versions that no one wants to buy. Then charge ridiculous prices that would make one want to sell their arcade 360.
When the 360 is all about xbox live and online gaming, that is its system seller. Thetype of people that are attracted to the 360 are the ones who love to play action games online. So they will purchase the Premium or elite versions.
Where MS business model fails is delivering a very low quality product to the mass market. This has hampered sales and resulted in MS spending Billions in warranties. If you add those Billions to the equation, how much is MS gaming devision really down compared to how much Sony’s gaming devision has lost?
Its that bad that MS have spent as much on warranties as Sony spent on developing the Cell Broadband Engine. thats funny
