Full story: Ex-studio staff claim Wardevil is a scam on the PS3
This past week there was an incident where a forum poster alleging to be an investor of the studio responsible for Wardevil, claimed that the game was a hoax. As a result of the poster, the forum exploded with comments criticizing the studio and its integrity.
A few days ago on the PS3forums, a user named Lee Archer, a supposed investor in the studio, claimed that the Wardevil project was a scam and is vaporware. Archer indicated that the studio did not even have a working version of the touted RTE 1080 engine. What ensued was an explosion of comments negatively criticizing the studio.
In one of the comments Archer said:
They are nowhere near completing this game based on the information I have. they have been working on the same 3 levels, one of which was recycled from a previous “attempt” at the project before ingntion/utv merger for the last 3 years. It’s supposed to be a game with 20 hours worth of play, and a 2 hour feature film? get real. the levels are so small you could walk though them in 5 minutes and be like “what? that’s it? **** that”.

Digi-guys, the studio behind Wardevil, responded by revealing that the poster is indeed a former employee of the company and that everything he said was false. The studio indicated that the game is still in development and everything is going fine. Digi-guys have also started to take legal actions against the former employee.
According to PS3forums:
Digi-Guys have stated that they have initiated legal proceedings against their ex-employee, who has been posting on this forum under the username of ‘LeeArcher’. Whilst this matter is being handled via legal channels Digi-Guys cannot directly address, discuss or engage in any matters relating to this subject. Digi-Guys have stated that they understand that this will be frustrating to the real fans of Wardevil out there but at this time are unable to comment further.
The reason why there is such a hype behind a game that has yet to be fully revealed, is due to the mystical tech surrounding the game. The Wardevil project, if it comes to fruition, will most likely be the first true 1080p 60fps third person action game this generation.
The engine promises to be able to crank out games in glorious 1080p at 60fps, without so much as a limp. It is unclear if Archer is a disgruntled ex-employee with a vendetta, or has some insight into what is going on in the company. However, one thing is for sure the studio has confirmed that the game is well on its way for release in 2009.

I’ll just pray we don’t hear the same about Sadness, but it seems a bit…extreme for a developer to say they’re going to release something when its not even really being planned.
It would seem very strange if it was all a “scam,” and just never existed in any sort of real way. What would the point be?
Maybe it is true, but, if so, I do hope we can hear the reason for the act.

I don’t know what all you Xbots are complaining about? This story isn’t all that possitive about the PS3.
If that ex-employee is right, that means this studio scammed Sony with a shell of a game as an exclusive. Couple stories ago, Mike blasted Sony for having crappy marketing and should follow Microsoft.
I see negative stories about the PS3 and Xbox 360.. you fanboys need to get your goggles off.

I think I’ve said this a few times, news like this I haven’t seen on any other site and its interesting stuff that helps me pass the bordem at work.
Thats what I like about this site, they talk about stuff not covered to death on the other sites.
.. Wardevil, haven’t heard anything about them since E3. Nice to get an update at least.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I have never heard of the game before this.

I recall this poster. He seemed legitimate. Now at least it’s confirmed that he was an employee. So its either disgruntled employee lying or disgruntled employee telling the truth. I’m hoping for the formed yet not holding my breath on this one. I’ve seen less revealed with this game than Alan Wake.

I can give my 100% backing to the LeeArcher poster. I personally know a person who worked there and he hits the nail on the head about how that place is run
