New Metal Gear for Xbox 360 in the works?

December 5, 2008

New Metal Gear for Xbox 360 in the works? Many Xbox 360 owners were disappointed when Kojima announced that Metal Gear 4 would be PS3 exclusive. Some even speculated that an Xbox 360 port would be imminent. However, some recent clues on the Konami’s official site indicate that a new Metal Gear game might be in the works for the Xbox 360.

On the official Konami page there is a link that takes you to a flash screen where a message is revealed. The message says, “A Next Metal Gear is…” which indicates that a new Metal Gear game is currently in the works. However, the symbols shown above the message have stirred things up quite a bit in the Xbox 360 and PS3 community.

In the symbols above the message there is a green power button, which many believe to stand for the Xbox 360. There is also an “i + !” which still has many mystified as to its significance. Some have even speculated that this new game may be the next installment in the Ac!d series.

For those not familiar with the Ac!d series, its a spin off usually relegated to the handheld system, like the PSP. The Ac!d games are usually turn-based RPG style games.

Another theory that has been floating around is that the “i” might stand for “iPhone,” meaning that a new Ac!d game could be coming out on the phone. Could the message mean iPhone + Ac!d = Green/Go?

Its still quite a mystery, but the popular belief is that a new Metal Gear game is currently in the works for the Xbox 360. Since the Xbox 360 did not get any love from the franchise it’s not that unfathomable that the console may get some attention from Kojima.

Another interesting thing about the site is the URL. Part of the URL address contain these acronyms, “MGST.” I suspect MGST stands for a new trailer the site will be showing very soon. It looks like the only thing we can do for now is to sit tight and keep a close eye on the site.

I was wondering how long it would take you guys to report this…

it would be great if more people got to experience this game… I do hope the next one has better controls and online modes…

but then again… nothing has been confirmed… this is all just conjecture…

    lets the shitstorm begin….

As for the colour, MGS has always been a shade of green, maybe a bit darker than what’s currently shown but still green none the less. I’m putting money down for a DS version, I mean Hideo is a smart guy, the DS could have a lot of functionality going for it regarding a MGS game, I’m sure Hideo has had a plethora of ideas regarding the dual/touch screen, mic and stuff.

Maybe a PSP version to compliment the PS3 version.

Can’t wait to see what happens.

  3. Ivan_PSP:

Wow keep dream about PLAYSTATION 3 exclusives. That will never happen this doesn’t mean shit.

I believe the ! is simply an exclamation point that is fairly prominent in MG games when someone gets surprised.

I was under the impression the series was over. I’d love for Kojima to concentrate on a next gen (this gen) zone of enders.

  5. Rind14:

As much as you guys would love to spin it otherwise – this means a game is coming out by Kojima that will not be on the PS3.

    It’s Wii or 360, and it’s Metal Gear Ac!d

‘As much as you guys would love to spin it otherwise’

I don’t think ANYBODY even said it was for ps3.

  7. harry sachz:

Even if it came out on 360, I wouldn’t buy it. Watching video for 90 minutes and playing a game for 5 minutes doesn’t really do it for me.

  8. darkwhitehair:

I really thought you would know better harry… I expected more from you… you havent played the game… how do you know its 5 minutes of gameplay… how do you know its 90 minutes worth of cutscenes???

I tried playing Metal gear solid 3… I couldnt handle the codec calls… I know nothing about the metal gear saga… I just read the wikipedia articles… and this game has kept me interested so far…

this is a game that people should play… like GTA … like gears… like half life… its just a great experience…

  9. harry sachz:

    DWH, I saw the first 30 minutes. It went something like this;

    Walk 3 steps

    Cut scene

    Slide underneath a truck

    Cut scene

Get out from underneath the truck

    Cut scene

    Walk 5 steps

Cut scene with these big mooing things

Run away from the big mooing thing

    Cut scene

Seriously, I was getting frustrated just watching the thing, I can imagine how pissed off the game would make me if I was actually playing it.

It may well be a brilliant game, but it’s not what I like. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one.

  10. Royzy:

Harry it was simply the intro ‘gradually easing’ you into the gameplay. Nah you are right though, it isn’t for everyone, which is fine by me.

I was thinking about my top 5 game series, if anyone cares. It goes as follows…

    1.Metal Gear

    Then in no particular order…

    Half Life
    Resident Evil
    Final Fantasy
    Timesplitters

Yey. Just thought I’d tell you guys that, because my girlfriend didn’t really care.

  11. Barnabe Jones:

My bet is that it is another Ac!d title for the PSP, DS, or both.

@Royzy: I care. Metal Gear is amongst my top favorite series. So are Resident Evil and Final Fantasy.

Asides from the amazing game play, the story is one of the best parts of the game. The cut scenes can be very long winded and cerebral. I can see people being turned off by them, but for me it is what makes the series great.

IT’S IMPOSSIBLE… !!! the ps3 fanboys SWORE mgs4 could NEVER come to the 360 because of “TEH BLOOORAY!!!”…

if this turns out to be true, a lot of ps3 fanboys are gonna look even dumber than they do now…. if that’s possible… :)

  13. kevo:

yea but that was actually a short game filled with long ass movies

  14. CarlB:

    kev,

like FFXIII. The thing is, even if Sony keeps on losing exclusives and breaking promises at the rate it’s employees are losing jobs, fans will simply move on to the next thing promised to them in the future and wholeheartedly defend it while enjoying multi-platform releases and the few exclusives they have left, instead of cutting their losses and getting another console.

I would have to say it does seem that there are enough decent multi-plat releases to keep a gamer busy enough.

@harry… thanks for making me laugh so hard I cried.

  15. Arvis:

    CarlB,

Not to make a blanket statement, but anyone who hasn’t played a game but feels qualified to insult it is at worst willfully ignorant and at best stupid.

    -Arvis

  16. CarlB:

    Arvis,

Err, how did I insult a game I haven’t played?

I only mentioned FFXIII as a title that was once exclusive, but now multi-platform, and harry was just funny.
