Does the PS3 really need saving?

December 15, 2008

The recent NPD hardware sales figures have lead to some labeling the PS3 “a sinking ship” that is “dying on the shelves.” But is it really all that bad for Sony and the PS3 or is there some light at the end of the tunnel?

NPD recently published its sales figures in the U.S. for November. The Nintendo Wii managed to sell over 2 million units, an incredible figure that just underlines how in demand the console of the moment is right now. The Xbox 360 also managed a good total, with Microsoft shifting 836,000 units. But Sony could only muster PS3 sales of 378,000, a pretty dire result it has to be said.

On the back of these figures, CNN made the claims that the PS3 was on its way out. The console is apparently now a sinking ship with little hopes of rescue. But is this an accurate portrayal of the current situation? Sure, the figures aren’t great but I don’t think it’s quite time to wheel the fat lady on to the stage yet.

First of all, let’s look at the figures. As The Washington Post points out, this November only included two holiday sale days, compared to eight last year. That’s going to have had an effect. Sure, that affects all three home consoles but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Sony was hit hardest by this calendar conundrum.

The PS3 also saw growth over the past year, and while 2007’s figures weren’t much to write home about, any growth is good. It also looks more sweet for Sony when you add in sales of the PS2 and PSP. It can kind of afford to allow the PS3 to slowly build momentum while it’s still drawing profits from other consoles under the Playstation brand banner.

CNN isn’t all bad, and do get it right when suggesting Sony badly needs to cut the price of the PS3. I’ve been droning on about this for months but it’s now becoming a matter of urgency that the PS3 becomes cheaper and consequently more affordable to mainstream consumers. Hell, we’re in the middle of a recession and people haven’t got enough spare cash to pay for such a high-cost piece of technology. Especially when the two rival consoles are available significantly cheaper.

Sony definitely needs to get its act together if it’s going to drag sales of the Playstation 3 up where they belong. A price cut early in the year coupled with a heavy advertising presence would be a great start. Then just let the games do the talking. With exclusives such as Gran Turismo 5 and Killzone 2 on the way, reports of the PS3’s death are greatly exaggerated.

Don’t write the obituary yet. The Playstation has a lot of life left in it. And remember, 2009 could be the year of the PS3, even if Sony says so itself.

kev Id love to hear your thoughts… specially since you ignored my last link…

the ps3 needs no saving… its not going to die… this isnt the dreamcast… people who want a PS3 will get a PS3… if not… they should be happy with what they have… so far… not one console in this generation has been perfect… all three needs improvement…

    ahem…

    GOD OF WAR !!!

my life has meaning again… and Im scared to play the next MGS 4 level… too spooky…

dear god naughty dog… what have you unleashed…

for me… the ps3 has been earning its $400 price tag… even though Im pissed at no BC and no media card readers… no worry.. will buy another one a year from now…

  3. harry sachz:

“Sony definitely needs to get its act together if it’s going to drag sales of the Playstation 3 up where they belong.”

But DAVE PARRACK, P$3 sales are exactly where they belong, and deservedly so! They can’t lower the price of the P$3, they are already losing money per machine sold as it is, and with the dire economical state, coupled with the 16,000 jobs that Sony is cutting (full time plus contractors) there is no way that the Sony execs are going to approve another voluntary financial hit.

Maybe CNN know something we don’t? They’re a lot more respected than FOX news.

  4. Spideydog:

What a load of hog wash …… The 360 will die before the ps3 will and the 360 ain’t going nowhere.

  5. DavidB:

CNN are idiots when it comes to tech, but I digress…

I’m already pissed a PS3 costs only 2/3 of what I paid for my launch 60, another $100 cut so its 1/2 what I paid won’t matter to me. Hey, I got full B/C hardware and card readers and 4 USB ports…

Yeah, Sony has got to cut the price not for any economic reason Blorge writers dream up, but they MUST spur sales to keep devs on board.

And GT5? PLEASE! Stop jacking around. Polyphony has ruined the franchise dicking around releasing a game with far more bullshit eye candy than any race player cares about. Cut the crap Polyphony, release a damn game already. Prologue I was DONE with in 2 days, its a demo not a game.

No fan, but it is not CNN. It is Silicon Alley Insider on CNNMoney.com.

    Another take:

“products become successful through price differentiation or feature differentiation. Sony is losing on both counts. The PlayStation 3 is about $100-$150 more expensive than competing products in the market and the console isn’t differentiated in any way.”

(except for a possible release of God of War III next year, if it is not delayed)

“Think about it: Microsoft has an online component that easily eclipses any other offering from its competitors. Nintendo has the Wii and its innovative style of game play. Sony has nothing that can differentiate on any significant level. Sure, some will claim Blu-ray will do it, but there’s still little evidence to suggest consumers would pay more for a video game console for its Blu-ray functionality. For proof of that, look no further than current console sales figures–Sony is getting beaten handily each month.”

“The PlayStation name isn’t what it used to be.”

  7. lock_down:

I think Polyphony are waiting for manufacturers to allow them to do damage modeling.

While GT5 would sell anyway, it would appeal to more people with damage…and help drive sales of the PS3.

I don’t see how Sony could let the PS3 sink and not be bothered about it. SCEI is one of the key parts of Sony; they need it to work. It’s not sinking…yet.

I said on the other story that next year is when Sony will get more aggressive. Because it’s either that, or that hull will begin to leak…

  8. Barnabe Jones:

I would agree that the PS3 needs some help in the sales department. The PS3 is about 6 million units behind the 360. Also keep in mind that the 360 had a 3 million head start of the PS3. It’s a lot of ground to make up, but I think Sony stands a good chance. For 2009 Sony’s first party studios are coming out in full force. I won’t bother with a rambling list, but we all know there are a lot of games being released. 2009 will also see a price cut. Price is one of the main issues holding the PS3 back at this point. Finally I think Sony is starting to see the value of marketing. Marketing has probably been the second largest reason the PS3 hasn’t been performing as well as it could be.

  9. ncaissie:

I think they are done and that is whay I chose to remove it from my christmas wishlist. I put the 32gig Ipod Touch in its place.

  10. phranctoast:

    @lock_down.

The way I heard it was that some manufacturers would allow damaged models and others wouldn’t. Polyphony didn’t want to release with damaged models unless they had 100% behind it.

I agree with BJ on the marketing. Their marketing is atrocious.

  11. Barnabe Jones:

A products popularity shouldn’t affect your purchasing choice. What does it matter if the 360 is selling more units at the moment? If you’re looking for a great console with amazing games, you can’t go wrong with the PS3.

  12. Barnabe Jones:

The below is copy and pasted from an unbiased and sensible site. The worldwide gap between the two consoles it actually 24M (360) to 18M (PS3). Keep in mind the 360s year head start.

“In the United States, there are approximately twice as many Xbox 360s in play as Sony’s (NYSE: SNE) PlayStation 3 (PS3) — 14 million for the Xbox compared to almost 7 million for the PS3. This figure, however, doesn’t tell the whole story: If you look worldwide, both consoles gain about 10 million units sold, which results in a closer gap of 24 million to nearly 18 million. Plus, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) rushed its Xbox 360 out the door a year faster than Sony’s November 2006 launch of the PS3 … and Microsoft may still be paying for its haste via an extended warranty program it rolled out to handle the PR mess of failing Xbox 360 systems.”

  13. CAD:

Neither can you go wrong with the 360 which has even more amazing games and is a great console and is cheaper.

  14. CAD:

Unbias ha. So why didn’t they talk about Japan.

  15. darkwhitehair:

CAD… its cheaper for casual gamers… people who buy one or two games and dont buy any more… I know I can probably spend an entire year playing Halo 3 and not play anything else… but that doesnt help anyone… if you want to truly utilise the 360… you need a hard disk… you need LIVE… you need to play the LIVE arcade games… otherwise theres no point on spending even $200 to buy 2 or 3 games…

  16. CarlB:

Popularity drives sales into greater numbers that in turn attract more developers for the greatest profit with the least investment. Sony has great games, and more for next year, but Microsoft has even more top rated exclusives at this time with 69 titles compared to PS3’s 26, and even the Wii has more than that with 29:

    http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=8969766&publicUserId=5540369

The 6 great exclusive titles lined up for next year does not make a great home console, especially in it’s 4th year. To quote the Washington Post article mentioned above, “When you’re talking new unit sales, you count the whole history of notable exclusives.” The 360 simply has more to offer at this time, year to date.

The PS3 may make up for by late next year, but by that time gamers will already be looking forward to the next generation of 720, PS4, Wii2, PSP2, and DS2:

  17. Happyhockum:

Japan is and always will be a unique market which indicates nothing about how the rest of the world will react.

The simple truth is that a successful PS3 in Japan (which btw is it not particularly anyway) is not enough.

Sony are indeed in deep trouble.

They have already said that they do not expect to recoup the R&D costs of Blu-ray (which has been a 5+ years long massive cost to them coming to many billions of $).

I have yet to see anything which says they are even in profit (in the sense of production costs) for the PS3 yet.
They might be nearing it but I doubt they are there yet.

The truth is that Blu-ray & PS3 have been little short of a disaster for Sony.

(and after their recent criminal activity – root kits anyone? – it obviously couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch)

  18. phranctoast:

    PS3 hardly needs “saving”
The 360 lead with a year head start and a 10 million console lead that now is down to 6 million. PS3 practically trimmed their lead in half, while always being the more expensive of the two.

While Japan may not be how the rest of the world reacts, I really don’t see that as a point worth mentioning. They buy a console, and they buy games. Their success in Japan will mean more Eastern style games which is always good.

  19. lock_down:

In a way, I hope GT5 doesn’t have damage, or at least there is a way to turn it off….especially online. If you race online you can guarantee that people will just bash into you to destroy your car, which, first time it happens would be funny; the humour would quickly wear off.

I think Sony are just waiting for next year to advertise. After all, why waste advertising money now? There is nothing really to sell until next years games come out.

Least we also forget that the PS2 got off to the exact same launch for Sony. People complained about the PS2 being too advanced, too expensive, and devs complained about it being difficult to code for. And look at the PS2. The PS3, like Sony keep saying, is a long term thing. But they do need to start advertising early next year…

    @Happyhockum

The gaming division as a whole reduced its operating loss this year, so next year they may go into profit, something David Reeves alluded to.

With root kits, I think that while Howard Stringer is trying hard to get Sony united, Sony is just too big.

You can’t have control of over 160,000 people spanning over 5 different different divisions. The people in Sony Pictures may have been totally embarrassed by what Sony BMG did with XP-CD, and would never have put anything like that on their DVD’s.

Perhaps it is the same at Microsoft; different parts of MS being frustrated at the Xbox guys for putting out a system with RRoD and disc scratching, which, as we now know, MS knew about it all along.

  20. CarlB:

    lock_down,

“why waste advertising money now? There is nothing really to sell until next years games come out.”

That is the part of the problem. And it looks like there is very little work around in reducing the cost of the Blu-ray further in order to make the PS3 profitable.

  21. kev:

happy- don’t forget about sony’s exploding batteries in laptops.

i just find it telling that all the “success” for the ps3 is always in the future. if the ps3 wasn’t the titanic that it is, there would more more success stories in the present. there are none. not one.

barnabe – even sony hasn’t claimed to have sold 18 million. join reality please….

dwh – IF ms is found culpable then they should be held accountable. i never said they were perfect. only that you ps3 fanboys are hypocrites for wanting to crucify ms for a design flaw while IGNORING the fact the ps2 has design flaws leading to sony being sucessfully sued.

my advice: wait for a judgement against ms before you start the fanboy dance…. ;)

  22. kev:

lock down – the gaming division reduced losses but they STILL are LOSING with NO MENTION of profits in sight. BTW; the reduction of losses was a result of SCE closing development houses and laying off many, many well paid employees..

many good people lost their jobs because the ps3 failed to do what it was supposed to do…

  23. phranctoast:

Thats right kev. The PS3 is also responsible for the shitty economy. Banks are pissed at the PS3 as well as The three major American car companies.

  24. phranctoast:

kevin… my dear old buddy kevin… you mistake me for someone who actually gives a shit about Sony… I couldnt care less if they lost 1 million or a 100 million in a lawsuit… whether they eat babiez or bomb iraq with faulty laptop batteries… I dont care… Sony dont pay my bills like MS pays yours…

also… how many time should I tell you?? I acknowledged that the ps2 was sued… I dont give a shit… my ps2 has been fine since the last half a decade… so has the ps2s of my friends… so far… Ive seen my friend go through 2 RRODs… not to mention the stuff I hear in the the podcasts… its doesnt make me love or hate a company… it does help me decide whether I want to buy a particualr console or not…

  26. Arvis:

    Ok guys, interesting story:

This morning, when I got to work, one of the women I work with was asking me about the Xbox 360. She said that her husband asked for a PS3 for Christmas, but they couldn’t afford one, so she was going to get him a 360 instead.
I told her that the PS3, overall, is a much better product but that both systems had a ton of great games so he should be ok with it unless there was a specific PS3 game he was interested in. She was literally a click or two away from buying the 360 when another guy in the office mentioned that there was a store nearby where you could get a PS3 rent-to-own. $150 down, $30/wk starting two months after purchase. So she went with the PS3 instead.

Now, never has it been more clear to me that Sony needs to drop the price. They have the software, now they needed to finish off the deal. How many people have gone through the process of wanting a PS3 but “settling” for a 360? Even if they dropped it to $350, it would be a more competitive price. This is end-all-be-all of selling more consoles as far as I am concerned.

    -Arvis

  27. harry sachz:

haha @ Chris. So it took you and someone else a fair bit of convincing to sway someone to buy a PS3? Well I hope that extra console puts a smile on your face when the next NPD figures come out.

I just hope your workmate is still going to talk to you after she realises that you made her buy a turkey. I kid, I kid :)

  28. darkwhitehair:

nice story arvis… its reeking with fanboyism… kev is going to have a field day with this :P

ahem… would you state to the court WHERE is this magical store where you can “rent” these underachieving Sony pieces of shit… which are clearly under… achieving… MAY I REMIND YOU that you are still under oath…

tough times for sony… we can only help by buying new games… I cant stop playing Warhammer…

  29. Happyhockum:

I love the way the huge success of the Wii – and the PS3’s total inability to go anywhere near it in sales – is just passed by as if it isn’t happening.

The truth is, when all the ‘one year later’ excuses are gotten out of the way (and lets just see how XBox numbers have rocketed after the last price-chop when the X-Mas numbers come out) the PS3 is well and truly bolted into 3rd and last place in this round of the console wars.

Sony effectively blew off the biggest selling point in the year and their market share is shrinking in relation to the other 2 consoles, massively so too.

PS3 fans can run their constant ‘just you wait’ line but we’ve waited a long time time and seen nothing especially impressive to date.
Time marches on & frankly (especially with that – at least – 4 gen old GPU based on the ancient Nvidia 7800gs) I really do not expect to see anything beyond what they can do now.

    Who cares anyway?
Their small sales will cripple the unit as much as anything ultimately.
Sony themselves might be able to get a little more out of the PS3, but why would any decent 3rd party devs bother when the consoles that all sold are most definitely not called ‘PS3′?

  30. harry sachz:

    haha happyhockum, didn’t you know?

2007 is the year of the PS3….oh wait, sorry, I meant

2008 is the year of the PS3…oh wait, sorry, I meant

2009 is the year of the PS3…. umm yeah that’s it!

Once the programmers work out the power of the cell, these games will be amazing.

Oh, and lazy developers make bad ports of 360 games.

Oh and Microsoft are bribing game developers to make bad PS3 versions.

Oh and Microsoft are ruining gaming by getting Sony’s exlcusives and getting extra DLC (let’s just not mention Bioshock or the Mirrors Edge DLC).

Have I covered all of your half-assed gripes and excuses, PS3 boys? Or have I missed something?

  31. darkwhitehair:

harry… well.. I was one of those people who said that 2007 and 08 would be a good year for the ps3… I feel like an idiot… but I am proud of the firmware updates and the new added functionalities…

but ports are nothing to joke about… Bethesda made oblivion for the ps3… mirrors edge and dead space had no major bugs on the ps3… so why should fallout 3 have them??? like orange box on the ps3 and 360… if devs dont take care of their products.. its not the consoles fault…

theres not problem with microsoft paying devs to make exclusive dlcs… Im gonna buy the 360 version of gta 4 and fallout 3 and underworld for that reason… as long as the dlc are worth it….

and with games like uncharted and mgs… you do see that people who can utilise the ps3… can make really good graphics… Ive seen killzone 2… looks great… I have no problem with it running on a 7400 nvidia… you forget that nvidia makes the best graphics card… I had an ati… it couldnt play shit… so I had to borrow my friends nvidia…

  32. Royzy:

While you talk about graphics quickly, Wipeout HD is VERY sexy at 60 fps and at 1080p/i. The colours in Zone Mode are so vibrant its like being punched in the face. All for just £13.99!

  33. harry sachz:

oh wait, I forgot to throw in ‘RROD!!!!!! RROD!!!!!!’.

Now I believe I have covered everything.

  34. darkwhitehair:

    the ps3 has no games…

bloo ray is no way as good as dvd…

forza has sims that will make you feel like you are ACTUALLY driving a car… (even though you can drive a car if youre 18 and are a normal person)

xbox is made by americans… americans RULEZZZZ
    USA USA USA!!!

    and finally…

    HALOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  35. darkwhitehair:

there harry… TAKE THAT!!! how does that feel??? are you crying?? I bet youre crying?? OH BOY THIS IS SO MUCH FUN… Im so mature…

  36. harry sachz:

Ok, you just confirmed that you’re a bona fide douchebag. Well done.

  37. SW:

    Well Royzy,

Out of the the last 6-8 posts, yours was the only one that was made from pure retard!

    :)

Wipeout rules, I could spend hours making photographs of zone mode :)

  38. CAD:

Harry that was funny. I was going to do it earlier but I got caught up at work. Every Year is suppose to be the year for the PS3. On an earlier post Carl B threw down a nice exclusive list for 2009. I don’t think PS3 has an answer.

  39. SW:

erm, was not made from pure retards ;) I gotta goto bed lol, least I have tomorrow off :)

  40. harry sachz:

@ CAD, did you really expect them to?

I’m not retarded, I just like to troll. haha

  41. CarlB:

    DWH,

Just so we can get both sides for S&G, I’ll do a mirror of your comment:

    the 360 has no games…

DVD and downloads is no way as good as Blu-ray…

GT5 will blow away Forza 2… (even though they both are the same game in slightly prettier packages)

PS3 is made by japanese… japanese RULEZZZZ
    JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN!!!

    and finally…

    GOWOWOWOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW

  42. darkwhitehair:

    NOOOOOOOOOO
I have been slain by ze wit of monsieur Carl B…

but… granted the Ps3 games werent financially HUGE… they never may be… as huge as Halo and Gears… they are the Wii of games… untouchable…

but nonetheless… the PS3 did have a very good year… quality wise… trophy support for games like paradise and GTA 4… and the devs had no reason to do that… although none for MGS 4… games like R2 and LBP…. so far… so good… it keeps me occupied and entertained… so Im happy

  43. CarlB:

You are right, wit is not one of my strong points.

I have to agree, 3rd place is still no slouch, and incremental improvement is many times the wisest course of action, which is what PS3 seems to be learning.

Trophies seem to be one of the most underplayed things, but I think that is because 360 standardized them for all games first, and for some reason people think it is a bad thing for another manufacturer to “copy” this basic enhancing element.

This is like saying it is a bad thing to “copy” some proven gameplay mechanics in a great game. Achievements, trophies, and a ranking/stat/history tracking system is simply the factor that can add to the overall replayability and life of any game library.

The Wii should standardize this too, but they are sitting in a pretty position right now and really don’t have to make any extra effort at this point to stay there.

  44. Royzy:

SW, haha your initial comment about pure retard made me actaully laugh out loud!

Yep Wipeout is awesome. I really want to reach Zone Zeus, but the highest I’ve got (so far) is Super Zen. It’s all I have on my mind right now.

  45. harry sachz:

“It’s all I have on my mind right now.” –> I sometimes think about girls.

  46. Arvis:

So, I know my post is way back there now, but I feel the need to reiterate that my workmate ALREADY WANTED A PS3 AND NOT A 360. She was simply considering the 360 as a cheaper alternative since she was unable to afford a PS3. Hence why I brought up price. It’s likely that many 360 owners went through the same thought processes as my workmate, and many more WILL go through this until Sony lowers their price.

    -Arvis

  47. CarlB:

PS3 wasn’t an option at the time I bought my 360, and when it was a year later it didn’t have a quality alternative to Live, Achievements, or Gamerscore that I had grown used to as a part of gaming.

The Playstation name was certainly the most popular at launch, but that time has come and gone when considering the present generations offerings.

I would have advised her that unless her husband was a fanboy of the Playstation brand and handful of big name exclusives it has (which could be a possibility since he already wanted a PS3), to go with the most long-term value, which is the 360.

The Playstation 3 has a lot of ideas and is working to add value to it’s console next year to catch up, but they do not seem as standardized and consolidated as they are on the 360 at this time. The fact that they actually took out backwards compatibility only detracts from the Playstation 3’s value. ♠

  48. CarlB:

Okay, long-term there is definitely argumentative, considering the PS3 may be on the market much longer than the 360 (but then again, by that time it will be the next console generation, and the 720 could have backwards compatibility, and or the 360 could stay on as well, if MS takes a cue from Sony).

Ugh. Answer: it depends. But I would still would go with the 360 simply because I prefer full, standardized Live, Chat, Achievements, and Gamerscore across all titles rather than just a beginning few that is on PS3 at this time. ♦

  49. DavidB:

Man, if I told my wife I wanted a PS3 and she bought me an X360 just cuz it’s cheaper’ I would be pissed! That woman is an idiot, apparently doesn’t give a crap if someone actually would WANT her gift.
SO…how many of the consoles in that 6 million unit lead were RROD replacements? I doubt we’ll ever get a true answer from MS on that one.

  50. Royzy:

Harry – what are ‘girls’? And where can I find one?

  51. Royzy:

Apparently I can find one in Home, if I chase them down and dance in their face.

  52. CarlB:

    DavidB,

How would replacements be counted as sales from retailers? Even if they were, the numbers would still be competitive.

  53. kev:

carl – davidb, like most ps3 fanboys, don’t understand POS data tracking nor the fact IF ms were to count those replacements as “sold” in their reported fililngs, they would be in for a world of hurt with lawsuits abound…

  54. phranctoast:

    @CarlB.

He probably means people that replaced their existing 360 with a new one by purchasing it at a store. Possibly before the extended warranty occurred or people with the means to buy it again and not bother with the warranty. Some people are also lazy.

  55. phranctoast:

does POS mean Piece of Shit data tracking. ;)

  56. CarlB:

@phranctoast, good point, but probably still not near 6 million.

  57. phranctoast:

probably not near 6 million. Theres a lot to factor in.
The original warranty was 1 year. So any RROD happening between that time was covered. There was a good half year that launch consoles would not be fixed, as they didn’t extend the warranty to three years until July 07 (a year and a half after launch)

In one year they sold about 10 million consoles. In a year and a half a good assessment would be close to 15 million.

How many people picked up a stores extended warranty when they bought it would have to factor it.

I’ll take a fanboy shot in the dark and say about 2 million were replaced by people out of their own money without any MS help.

kevin… how can YOU not know… youre the Executive Manager for all things related to direct x 360 and xbox sim data and titanic references…

dave parrack and mike ferro count on you to find out numbers and data that would change the way the world views video games… you can change the world… with your wonderfull terabyte forza information… perhaps even force Sony to kill themselves and take a shit on the PS3… like a real shit… not figuratively…

    DavidB,

Don’t be a jackass. The woman wanted to put a smile on her husband’s face and was frustrated that she couldn’t afford the one thing he really wanted. She felt the 360 was good enough, and for the most part it is. The PS3 and 360 share a lot of great titles. In the end the PS3 was the best option FOR HER because:
    1. It’s what she wanted and she found a way to afford it.
    2. ZERO interest in paying for extra online features.
    3. She has a HUGE plasma tv that hi-def games and movies will look very nice on.

phranc – since ms moved almost immediately and did NOT refuse claims for RROD, it would make no sense for 360 owners to buy a second to replace the rrod. you’re beliefs are as silly as your lack of industry knowledge, which leads me to; POS is point of sale…

dwh – aw…sorry if i i hit a nerve. i know how you hate facts… so you always use sarcasm to try insult the poster. keep trying… it’ll work someday…maybe….

if the ps3 getting blown out of the water makes you this angry, buy a 360 or wii…. those gamers are happy… :)

  61. CarlB:

“ps3 getting blown out of the water…”

Maybe by Wii, not quite so by 360.
I think another 3 years will tell that story.

But then again, the Wii is in the “Blue Ocean,” not the “Red Ocean.”

Barnabe is not a happy Wii gamer.

  62. kev:

carlb – moving from faaaar first to faaaar last IS getting “blown out of the water”. no matter how the ps3 fanboys spin it.

  63. phranctoast:

lol at 6 million being far last when far first was a difference of 120 million.

  64. CarlB:

    kev,

    I do not own a PS3, I own a 360.

    phranctoast,

    Well said.
