Qore gets PS3 exclusive demos – F.E.A.R 2

January 8, 2009

Qore gets PS3 exclusive demo - F.E.A.R 2 Qore, the online magazine created by Future Publishing for the PS3, is bringing us a rare treat this month. The magazine will bring PS3 owners with a Qore subscription an exclusive first look at F.E.A.R 2 with a playable demo. Who said it doesn’t pay to have Qore?

Originally, when Sony announced Qore many criticized the magazine by stating that Sony wants players to pay for demos despite the fact the company does not make Qore, which is created by Future Publishing. The team behind Qore also promised that the demos that they would acquire would not have been available on consoles (Xbox Live or PSN) at that time anyway.

Considering the fact there is a PSN team responsible for getting demos out on time to compete with Xbox Live, it makes sense that the Qore team would not prevent a demo from being released on PSN on time as well.

veronica-belmont In my opinion Qore has done a decent job of brining us exclusive content early with goodies, free downloadable games and early access to demos of games which were not available on either the PSN or Xbox Live. Last month we enjoyed an early demo of CAPCOM’s Flock, a multiplatform title which was exclusively available only on the PS3 via Qore.

Now you could ask – is Qore paying these developers so that the demo gets a late release on Xbox Live and PSN, while Qore gets it on time? That could very well be the case, but more than likely each studio has a target date to release their demo for optimal visibility of the game around launch date and if Qore wants to shell out some money to get a crack at it one or two weeks first, the studios has no problem with that either.

It is an interesting new wrinkle Qore brings to the whole exclusive demo scene. Angry non-Qore subscribers or Xbox 360 fans will undoubtedly blame Sony or PSN even though the company, Future Publishing is doing all of this to make some money for themselves.

Which begs the question – shouldn’t we just be satisfied with the fact that there are more options for us as the consumer?  Check out the latest episode of Qore tomorrow on PSN for an exclusive look at Killzone 2, F.E.A.R 2 and Heavy Rain.

F.E.A.R., Kill Zone 2, and Heavy Rain? Seems like a decent issue to me.

I think she’s kind of hot… but she has a really bad hair cut. If she got her hair fixed she could be a lot more attractive. Right?

Qore was OK. It’s not something I would pay for however. Even with exclusive demos.

  3. lock_down:

Well even if I wanted it, being in Europe I can’t get it. Another example of geographical ostracism from Sony…

What are the subscriber numbers for Qore?

  4. Wylie77:

I won’t even consider paying for Qore, I don’t have enough money for the games I want. I would like to get my hands on the Fear 2 demo though. I am suprised they haven’t offered Qore to Europe.

If it means waiting a week…. oh well…I’ll wait a week.

I’ve bought the Official Playstation Magazine a few times, and they always offer a code to download the latest episode for free. So I’ve seen about 3 or 4 of them. There ok, but usually you can find the same info if not more online for free. Also the extras tend to usually be nothing special.

Does the UK get Pulse? That’s the free video magazine that’s downloadable from the store. The lady that hosts that… Something Lee? Is smoking hot.

  7. SW:

    Qore is ok, nothing spectacular.

    As for F.E.A.R 2. Bah… I wouldn’t buy Qore for a demo of it.
