God of War 3 is the best looking game on the PS3 to date
Apparently, the geniuses at Sony Santa Monica have done it again. The studio managed to create a God of War iteration that has made David Jaffe proud. The studio released some pictures of the game recently and it looks phenomenal. However, the big question on everyone’s mind is – does it play well?
God of War III (GOW3) may be one of the most anticipated games on the PS3. Sony revealed GOW3 during last E3 after much speculation that a next gen version was in the works. The fact that there was the God of War logo with a big number three on the back of the booklet for Chains of Olympus helped clue gamers in on this secret.
The guys over at Kotaku recently had the opportunity to watch GOW3 in action, and they seem to be pretty excited about the game. One of the writers commented that GOW3 is more beautiful than any PS3 game to date. Apparently, not only does the game look ‘beautiful,’ but the scale is enormous. According to the game director, Stig Asmussen, one of the levels from God of War on the PS2 could fit inside the palm of the titan’s hand shown in the E3 trailer for GOW3.
The gameplay has also been revamped as well. Kratos can now switch weapons real-time on the fly. This means that while hacking away with the armblades, Kratos can now switch to another weapon during mid attack chaining different weapons into a combo.
The game is also gorier with the use of something called ‘Zipper Tech,’ which can simulate realistic disembowelment. The game is said to be more violent than any of the previous games in the series. You can also bet that there will be a mini-sex game in there somewhere.
It is really good to hear that this game is shaping up very nicely. However, Sony has yet to reveal when the game will hit the store shelves. The company has hinted at a late 2009 release date, but it impossible to know for sure until E3 this year. Stay tuned for more information on God of War III for the PS3.

um… I didnt get the “retail” copy… because I wanted to see if my PC could handle it… apparently I have tone down the graphics WAAAAY DOWN!!!
I would buy so many copies of this if my PC could run it properly… till then… OFF TO GARENA!!!

Hmmm Am i the only one not excited about this? I never got into GOW1/2 so i guess i’ve been left behind. More excited for inFamous, and as for being the best looking ps3 game… so far i’m less than impressed but hey time will tell.

Me too I think I missed out on the gow series. As I recall gow2 came out late in the day for ps2 as the other consoles were coming onto the scene. Although ps2 came up with some brilliant games near the end like hitman bloodmoney

The HD trailer is simply amazing. And what they’ve shown has to be alpha/preview code as doesn’t it?
So the graphics will probably get better. Jaffe wasn’t lying when he said it looks a painting come to life.

I think it is just the fact that God of War turns even yawns into excitable exclamations phranctoast. Chillyfish just woke up, saw God of War pics in mid-yawn and then the MGS “!” appeared complete with theme music as he finished it.

Someone tell me why it is ok for sex games in GOW but Rockstar got in gigg shit for putting it in GTA.

Probably because they didn’t show the GTA stuff to the censors when it was rated. I don’t see how it matters considering everything else that goes on in the game but oh well, the law is the law.

the sex games on GOW are completely different than the hot coffee sex game. For one, in GOW they pan off and don’t watch. It zooms into a bouncing peice of furniture of lamp. Hot coffee was a bit more explicit. The prostitute stuff in GTA4 was pretty raunchy and a lot more than what you see in GOW games.

It’s possible that this could see a 2009 release date. We at least seen some video/screen shots for the game while we have seen nothing for the new Ratchet and Clank game scheduled to come out in the Fall 09′ time frame.

Didn’t you actually have to mod San Andreas to unlock the Hot Coffee mini-game? I think the lines of code were on the discs… but you actually need to physically do something to unlock them.
