New Metal Gear Solid game not on PS3
A new entry in the Metal Gear Solid franchise has been introduced recently by Konami. The last game to come out of Kojima Productions was the acclaimed Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PS3. However, it seems that the latest entry will move away from the PS3 and onto the iPhone.
I speculated that the iPhone might be receiving a Metal Gear Solid game back some time ago when Komani released a teaser picture. Although, I also speculated that the picture could mean that the game would hit the Xbox 360 as well. As it turns out that the symbols did indeed refer to the iPhone.
The new game’s story seems to retouch around the MGS4 story. The game is more like a spin-off based on the MGS4 game. Metal Gear Solid Touch is an on-rail shooter, meaning that the camera will zip you around while you shoot at the baddies. It sounds like there will be very little stealth involved with the game.
According to Konami, this is the company’s attempt to gain entrance into the iPhone market. If the game is successful, then it could open doors for future games on the iPhone. Maybe we will see an awesome 2D sidescrolling Castlevania game on the device. However, with several great Castlevania games on the PSP and DS who needs an iPhone to play such games anyway?
I suppose this will be great for those who want to game discreetly. Gamers will now be able to pull out an iPhone and play some MGS while in a boring corporate meeting. Video gaming on the iPhone is still in an infancy stage, and it is still unknown if it is even a viable market. Only time will tell if Konami’s gambit will payoff in the long run.

I would like to see Sony move their LocoRoco Series to the Iphone/Touch! The game would generate so many sales on that platform it may single handledly put them in the green.

I have a 32gig touch and there are few games that work well on it. Mostly driving games and games like monkey ball and labyrinth.
The others don’t work.
MGS will not work well. The touch screen sucks for controls.

But seriously, my prediction for next gen… an i-console. Apple is already establishing relationships with some big name developers. It’s the next logical step.
