Alongside the Halo franchise, Gears of War and Gears of War 2 are the games most closely associated with the Xbox brand. But that would clearly change if the franchise was to go multi-format in the future. Comments from the series writer suggests it is at least possible. And if not, why not?

Fable 2 is considered to be one of the most hyped RPGs to hit the Xbox 360. In part this was due to Peter Molyneux’s insistence that his latest creation will be the masterpiece the original failed to live up to. The question remains – does Fable 2 have what it takes to live up to the hype?

Sega hasn’t been involved in the home console market for seven years now, after deciding to call it a day when the Dreamcast bombed quite spectacularly. But there is now speculation that the company could be planning a return to the scene of its greatest triumphs. Seriously, a new Sega console? Worst. Idea. Ever.

Infamous is the new IP being developed by the geniuses at Sucker Punch Production. The studio has a lot to live up to, coming off the highly successful Sly Cooper franchise. The game looks like a mix between Gears of War, Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto and Assassin’s Creed.

Flower is coming to the PS3 by way of the PSN on February 12. And this is an important game because it acts as a kind of contrast to the Gears of War, Killzone 2 ethos of design where everything is gray and miserable. In fact, Flower blurs the lines between gaming and art.

Gears of War has been praised for its graphical powers throughout the industry for some time now. However, there is a new kid on the block called Killzone 2, which blows away anything seen on the consoles to date. It may not come as a surprise, but the lead developer of Killzone 2 is cut from the very same cloth as the lead designer of Gears of War.

The Guitar Hero and Rock Band games have pretty much revolutionized the way we gamers can interact and play along with our favorite tunes. But there’s no need to own a PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii, and have had to pay hundreds of dollars for the kit. Nah, forget all that and play D-Pad Hero for free. You know it makes sense in the current economic crisis.

We’ve already established that Resident Evil 5‘s control system is outdated and only fit for the scrapheap. But could the politically incorrect views of the game also be outdated? Is Capcom really about to release an inherently racist video game?

The PS3 may have the more robust exclusive game lineup for this year, but the Xbox 360 is leading the ‘downloadable content’ (DLC) lineup for 2009. With the skyrocketing development costs, the good old days of third party exclusives is coming to a end. However, Microsoft has waged a new war revolving around exclusive DLCs.
