Sony left GDC claiming it was set to make a hugely important, global announcement on Tuesday. Today is Tuesday, and what do we get? The news that the PS2, a console eight years old and already claiming its pension, is dropping in price to $99. Wow, I think I’ve just soiled myself.

Rumors of a PS3 price cut have been running rampant across the Internet. Many speculated that Sony would be announcing a price cut this Tuesday after Smart House revealed that the company is planning a big announcement. However, Sony has confirmed that there is no price cut coming soon.

The Wii has succeeded like no other console before it due to it being afforded a very particular image and gaining a very particular audience. But will the release of two titles which look as though they’d be better suited to the PS3 or Xbox 360 change things for the Wii? Could this signal a change of direction for the Nintendo console?

According to reports, Sony has some big news planned for this Tuesday. Many have started to speculate what the news could be about. The most popular theory revolves around a price drop to the PS3. With all of Sony’s ducks in a row, this might be the perfect time to actually drop the price of the PS3.

This generation is finally starting to heat up. Not only is the number of must-have games being released starting to peak, these games are graphically blowing out of the water what has come before. While God of War 3 is looking fine and dandy, it could be that it’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves that is set to once again up the visuals ante.

While we’re all happily enjoying this generation’s home games consoles, the console manufacturers will no doubt be conjuring up plans for the next-gen. While we all know there is likely to be a Wii 2, PS4, and Xbox 720, there’s still the question of when any of them may appear. According to Blizzard, Microsoft is actively discussing its next move.

Blue Dragon Plus is the sequel to the highly hyped Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360. Unlike the home console version, the handheld version actually goes back to the basics, which does the game a world of good. The Dragon Ball-like characters are back for another run. The question is – can they deliver the goods this time around on the DS?

The Game Developers Conference is winding down and all has not been lost as several new games have been announced. The conference for the most part was made up of sessions where developers shared new insight into best practices into game development. Surprisingly Microsoft’s camp stayed fairly quiet, while Sony’s side was making a bit of ruckus with a tease of a Metal Gear game from Kojima and a new Ratchet & Clank announcement.

With GDC in progress, many stories are swirling around and it has become difficult to decipher what is true and what is not. An interesting rumor that has been picking up steam revolves around the next Metal Gear game releasing on multiple platforms. Also COD: Modern Warfare 2 has been confirmed.

With GDC in full swing many have been expecting blockbuster level news to come out of the conference. However, so far its been as mild as any other conference out there, with session after session. I wouldn’t tune completely out just yet, as there are a few rumors that look like they just might be true.
