The Top 50 most-anticipated games of 2009
2009 is looking like a bumper year for us gamers, with a glut of new releases on the way. But what are the most-anticipated games due out this year? We asked our readership and they came up trumps for us yet again.
This generation looks set to be one of the best for video games ever, at least in my opinion. All three consoles offer something different from the others, and all have a blend of brilliant first-party exclusives and multi-format titles available.
But we wanted to know which games in particular were getting you excited. Which title, on any console, has you salivating at the mouth and willing to ignore the economic recession in order to spend your hard-earned cash?
We asked: Which game are you most looking forward to in 2009? We had almost 3,000 votes, and the top 50 most-anticipated games of 2009 according to the readers of GAMER.Blorge are:-

Sin & Punishment 2 – 4
Resistance: Retribution – 4
The Godfather The Game: Part 2 – 4
Assassins Creed 2 – 4
Mafia II – 3
Killzone 2 is obviously already with us, as are Resident Evil 5, Halo Wars, and Street Fighter IV amongst others. Which means God of War III is the most-anticipated future title at the time of going to press. This is the game that most people think will be the true system seller for the Playstation 3.
As for the different consoles, there’s actually a very good blend going on. Most of the titles on the list are multi-format, but the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii are all well catered for. It seems that whatever your console of choice, there’s going to be a few games keeping you happy during 2009. Although, it has to be said, some of the titles on the list are unlikely to see the light of day in the next 12 months.
Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to vote in our new poll which asks: Which next-gen console will launch first? the three main contenders are there, the Xbox 720, Wii 2, and Playstation 4, as well as a new, as-yet-unannounced console called The Chuck Norris.
If you want to read my thoughts on when the next-gen may occur, and which console is likely to arrive first, check out the following articles.

I hope Heavy Rain holds up, I think it looks great.
The Wii 2 should be called WII.

What I want to know is why the hell the up coming multi-platform mega-title Return of Chuck Norris isn’t on this list? What kind of gaming site is this?

Need. Deus Ex. 3…… Need it to be good too….. (Suspect it won’t be, will be a dumbed down 360/ps3 title ported to PC.)

Sadly, these numbers are worse than meaningless given their source.
Interestingly, Killzone2 is being outsold by HaloWars almost 2 to 1 in worldwide sales, so .blorge “anticipation” doesn’t translate to real-world sales by any stretch.
You guys are wasting your time and whatever talent you might have, writing this puke.

“Although, it has to be said, some of the titles on the list are unlikely to see the light of day in the next 12 months.”
The pole was created by the users and they put what they wanted to see NOT what is coming for sure.

Chilly fish, you took this seriously? This was our opinion, not fact.
March 16th, 2009
I think chillyfish is way off bream and should stop carping on about Halo Wars sales…that claim was off the scale; although it is funny witnessing him floundering around all over the plaice making said wild claims about sales when the truth is yet to surface if you sea what I mean.
Codn’t resist.

“Sadly, these numbers are worse than meaningless given their source.”
Oh c’mon. Blorge knows the source, we know the source. Everyone knows what this article is, just a little fun based on the polls blorge runs.
Treat it like that, be happy…

Now that I have KZ2 and RE 5… I think I’m set for a while. As far as upcoming scheduled releases, I can’t really name any. Yes – GOW III, White Knight, and FFXIII… but they don’t really have solid release dates yet, which makes me think there still far off. Over the course of the next 3 months is there anything good coming out?
Who saw Watchmen? I thought they did a pretty good job with it. The novel flushed out the characters and some ideas a lot better… but still all in all, it was a good movie.
March 16th, 2009
I liked the watchmen. My girlfriend hated it. I could have done without seeing the guys balls and wanker though.
And why was it not rated R? There was teen girls watching and saying “They could have put pants on the guy!” LOL
Teens girls should not be watching movies like that and it should have been rated appropriately.

That’s hilarious that you mention it actually… I watched a father take his young daughter out of the theater. I think Dr. Manhattan’s pecker was making dad uncomfortable (understandably). It was rated R… I agree I could have done with less nudity of Dr Manhattan and Night Owl and more of Silk Spectre… but still it was a good movie.
March 16th, 2009
ncaissie, it is rated ‘18′ over here in the UK, which is as high as it goes in our cinemas.
There is good reason why he is naked (and why he wasn’t during the Vietnam war).
I did enjoy Watchmen a lot. Though even if it had turned out crap, I’d still love it anyway just because David Hayter wrote/adapted the script.
David even had to fight off Fox-Warner Brothers from potentially shutting the film down.
David Hayter is AWESOME. Chuck Norris wouldn’t stand a chance.
March 16th, 2009
David Hayter is forming a production company that will focus on creating film, game, TV, and even graphic novel content.

It’s weird, even though I couldn’t imagine anyone else voicing Solid Snake, his voice acting gets on my nerves.
Now Jennifer Hale on the other hand who voices Naomi, well, I could listen to her voice all day.
March 16th, 2009
Yeh i think it is called Dark Hero Productions.
lockdown….blasphemy. I know quite a few people who agree though. I think Raiden’s/Quinton Flynn’s voice gets quite annoying in his ‘depressed’ stages.
March 16th, 2009
It’s rated 18A in Canada.
It means adult accompaniment required.
Rated R means 18 and over only.
It should have been R.
I wouldn’t let my kids see it.
I though I was going to see a super hero movie like X-Men or Iron-man.
Totally caught me off guard.

What about Forza 3? Maybe I’m the only one.
