Lost Planet 2 to be inferior on PS3?
Lost Planet was one of those games that was decent and sold enough to warrant a sequel by CAPCOM. The snow covered action shooter came out on the Xbox 360 first and PS3 later. However, with the creator of the sequel looking to bring the game onto other platforms besides the Xbox 360, will the PS3 receive a crippled version yet again?
Lost Planet was a bit different in that the whole game literally took place out in the snow. Apparently this was one of its big draws as you fight monsters in the frigid post-apocalyptic setting. The game received much criticism when it came out on the PS3 as it was crippled. The game had severe framerate issues and lackluster graphics.
Lost Planet 2 has only been announced for the Xbox 360, but the developers have hinted at other platforms such as the PS3. It seems like the sequel may follow in the footsteps of the original game. There is a chance that the PS3 version will be completely weak.
However, there is a silver lining here for the PS3 fans. The game is produced by Jun Takeuchi and will be running on MT Framework 2.0. The original MT Framework 1.0 was terrible at developing PS3 games. However, judging from the quality of Resident Evil 5, which uses the next version of the MT Framework 1.0+ (Enhanced), version 2.0 may subside any worries about the PS3 version.
It also doesn’t hurt that the perfectionist, Jun Takeuchi is at the helm this time around. One can just look at Resident Evil 5 to know how talented the man is. If Lost Planet 2 hits the PS3, will owners have anything to worry about an inferior version? Chances are, all versions will probably look the same this time again.

Fallout 3 was… so were most other games… but old games like Burnout and new games like Dead Space and Mirrors Edge were equally good in both platforms…

Development
Lost Planet 2 will be running on the MT-Framework 2.0, an updated version of the engine used in several Capcom-developed games. Only an Xbox 360 version is currently at works, but other platforms are being considered.

I finished up my first play through (solo) on Normal over the weekend. I’ve been making my way through again (co-op) on Veteran. I’m on chapter 4 now. It’s like a totally different game. I think I’ve only found about 5 emblems so far. There pretty hard to find. I haven’t even touched the Mercs game yet.
I agree with you, that it’s not quite as good as 4… but it’s pretty amazing. I think 4 had a little but more originality with the locations and the enemies. Still I’m having a blast with 5 at the moment.
