Preview: Fat Princess is absolutely brilliant
Fat Princess is the upcoming PSN game slated to hit the store in a few months. The game has been picking up a lot of attention around the gaming community. The game looks like it is shaping up to be a must-have title for all gamers with its brilliant gameplay mechanics that mixes RTS and action.
The game Fat Princess received a bit of controversy when it was first unveiled to the public. The feminists have been crying foul over the game, criticizing the game’s parody of oversized women. It really isn’t all that offensive once you realize that the princess only becomes fat through strategic means, which makes it okay by all means.
The game is like a cross between DotA Allstars, tower defense, capture the flag and deathmatch. The game is like a RTS except that each of the solder on the map is controlled by a live human. You start out as a villager and chose which class you would like to be by picking up the hat that is associated with it. There are about six different classes (Mage, Worker, Warrior, Archer and Priest) available including the villager.
You can also level up within each class so that you become stronger with more abilities similarly to a RPG. For example the Archer can level up so that he can use a shotgun as a weapon. Other items such as a catapult can be built within the game enabling you to propel objects as well as yourself over to the enemy castle.
Rescue the Princess is probably the most popular game mode, where teams start off with the enemy princess in their dungeon. One of the main objectives is to fatten up the princess by feeding her cake so that when the enemy team attempts to rescue her they are restricted by her weight. It’s a brilliant concept that still has me in awe. The game is also extremely violent with lots of blood squirting everywhere. The game definitely looks to be an instant hit with the ladies and gents.

If you would like to see Ivan talk to Fallen Angel all day in a forum… I think I’ll pass. Yes, we are so “anti-Playstation” with our PS2′s and PSP’s Ivan. At least you remain as a shining example of how every life should be lived… a beacon of intelligent communication with open minded, rational thought and pure objectivity.
The game looks alright… maybe it will be available on PSP before my next deployment.

You’re right Ivan, I just imagined being in Iraq twice for a year combined, and being on ship for another half year with nothing but PSP and DS for gaming. The PS2 sitting in front of me and all the games I played on it before I got a 360 is just a glitch in the matrix… thanks for saving me neo.
Actually, the sun looks the same on a similar clear day here in Oceanside as it does in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Great Britain, Nepal, Syria, Spain, Australia, Bangladesh, Thailand, France, North Africa, the Mediterranean, Pacific, or any of the other places I have been to in my almost 18 years in the Marine Corps. Whereas the lack or abundance in humidity, time of year, my mood, or equatorial distance, etc. does seem to make a difference in how it feels in each place though.
I am glad you enjoy PSN games… but please refrain from judging all 600 or so 360 games (or by Microsoft games were you talking about all Microsoft games in history?) before you have at least had a chance to game on the console for more than “23 minutes”.

I don’t know dwh… depends on if I deploy/move again and if there is not something more appealing as a PSP/DS game by that time… there are already so many I have yet to play through… so maybe not. (…proceeds to finding Ms. Montenegro to finish Tenpenny Tower)

Arvis – I would recommend Flower. It’s really good and I think you’ll like it. Simple relaxing game play, good use of visuals and music, responsive motion controls, original concept, amazing graphics, etc, etc
The only drawback is that it’s pretty short.
Fat Princess looks like a very clever original take on capture the flag. As long as the game play matches the art direction and concept.. it should be great.

SW, that’s pretty fair. I played it a level or so at a time before I turned in for the night. It was a good way to decompress before I went to bed.
Ivan, Bejewejed 2 isn’t bad. Some of the trophies are really hard. Like the 100k club (I’ve only managed 87k) and clear level 10 in Action mode. My girl friend downloaded it, but I’m surprised how much I’ve ended up playing it. I don’t usually play puzzle games.
