Uncharted 2 to have Co-Op and Multiplayer like Resident Evil 5
Sony teased fans of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune recently on the official Playstation site by indicating that a shocking announcement was imminent. Many gamers speculated that Sony would be announcing a multiplayer mode for Uncharted 2. However, sources have also indicated that a co-op mode could be on the way as well.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was Sony’s blockbuster launch year title that received much acclaim, selling over 2 million units. The game is still hailed by many to be one of the best looking games this generation. However, one of the most requested features for the game was an online mode.
Kotaku recently broke the news that with every pre-order for inFamous a beta code for the multiplayer mode for Uncharted 2 will be included. This is definitely big news as the highly speculated mode has now been confirmed to be coming soon. However, disappointingly there was no mention of a co-op mode in the game.
According to ScrewAttack, an inside source is claiming that there will indeed be a co-op mode in the game. This could definitely be true as the co-op mode does not usually require a beta test, unlike the multiplayer mode. Also, there has been evidence that Drake will have a constant companion that is equally capable this time around.
The first game was rushed out the door as part of the PS3’s Christmas lineup during its first full launch calendar year, so its understandable that Naughty Dog was not able to incorporate a co-op or online mode. However, with nearly two years of development time its second time around; chances are that a co-op mode has been added. Sony has been teasing that the official announcement will be made this coming Monday. Make sure to stay tuned for more news about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

The first one was near perfection. And well I’m about to pre-order inFAMOUS two times since i got two PS3. I cannot wait to have this game with me. Co-Op will also be awesome to have. Sony is just making high profile games left and right damn they really here to destroy any wannabe. *Cough* Microsoft.

Ivan, your post was fine until the last sentence! Does everything have to be a damn flame war? Can people not just talk about a game without bashing another company, console or one another? Granted it’s your opinion, but in my opinion a comment like that just reeks of fanboyism! Also your opinion, but IMO, the first game was great. However I would hardly call it near perfection! That’s a bold claim to make, and if your that easily pleased, you should not be bashing Microsoft as they have made games that are better in my opinion and I’m sure many others. By the way, Sony did not make Uncharted, Naughty Dog made it. Correct me if I’m wrong but Naughty Dog can make games for whom they please.
That said, Microsoft does not compare to Sony when it comes to 1st party development. If that is what you were meaning to say then agreed 100%. I do not agree however with how you choose to word it. It’s just childish and really lacks any value!

Correct you are Ivan, Sony bought out Naughty Dog in 2001. However my point still stands other then that. Uncharted was not near perfect (IMO, but still a good game) and I did not see the need to just randomly bash Microsoft. Like you said, that’s just you!
Let’s get off that subject then shall we? I really hope there is a Co-op mode similar to that of RE5. I had so much fun playing RE5 with a buddy online, don’t think I would have enjoyed it half as much playing alone. Done right this could be something really special, alot of potential that I hope is realized. Hope this is something they put alot of work into and something that is not just tacked on. However it’s just rumor at the moment!

Co-op I hope is not mandatory. I still would like it there though as an option for 2 players.
I think Resi 5 was enough forced co-op for me. I don’t really want another fuckwit AI following me around and spoiling all the fun when I don’t want to be online.
Also, if it is co-op, I hope they use the whole screen – anyone find the offset small windows for Resi 5 a bit odd?

Yeah the AI in RE5 is why I said I would not have half as much fun playing it solo. Totally agree with you, want the game to have the option of a good solo mode and a good co-op. Yeah I found that a bit off putting aobut the windows in RE5, but soon forgot about it. Really didn’t see the reason behind it.

Roy – Yes. Ironically the demo for RE5 featured full split screen, but the retail game offered the small off centered split. I was playing on close to a 40 inch, 1080P TV – and the split screen was still unbearable. I’m surprised I haven’t seen that brought up more in reviews.
As far as Uncharted 2’s co-op, I’ll wait until they release more info. I’m interested to see how they implement it. Will it be forced co-op the whole game? Will there be an additional few maps to play online co-op? Or?
Naughty Dog has a pretty spotless track record, so I’m confident the co-op should work out to be a welcomed addition.
