PS3 to get GTA: Lost and Damned an Xbox 360 exclusive
There is a new rumor brewing in the gaming community around the controversial Xbox 360 DLC for Grand Theft Auto IV titled ‘Lost and Damned.’ The DLC received much controversy in the manner it was inked. Microsoft spent what is said to be that of a small country’s GDP to get exclusivity around the DLC. However, according to sources this DLC may make its way over to the PS3 soon.
The Grand Theft Auto IV DLC, the Lost and Damned received much praise from the gaming community for the care that was given to the expansion. Many have argued that DLC is not really necessary for a game like GTA IV, where the average consumer does not even end up completing the game 100 percent. However, with a new story plot and character it does bring new life to the old game, especially if there is nothing else to play.
According to Digital Spy, PSW Magazine has a new story that indicates that the PS3 will receive the Lost and Damned DLC this August. The magazine also claims that the DLC was only a six month timed Xbox 360 exclusive between Rockstar and Microsoft.
The average timed exclusivity period is in fact six months, but this story has left me scratching my head. I was under the impression that Microsoft paid $50 million for Rockstar to specifically develop the content for the Xbox 360. That would mean that in essence Microsoft has a big say in what happens to that DLC. However, who knows what shenanigan is actually going on behind closed doors.
We have seen games like LA Noire, which was announced as a PS3 exclusive slip into uncertainty. The rumor is that Sony pulled funding for the game due to it taking too long to develop. The game is now rumored to be coming out on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. I smell something fishy in the air; I have a growing suspicion that a bombshell will be dropped during E3 this year.

It’d suck to be in a country that has a GDP of $50 mil.

Well shock horror…a “360 exclusive” going to another platform. Who’d a thunk it?
I want to know what happened to that Rockstar PS3 exclusive.
Like LA Noire, I reckon Sony have given up on that and are just leveraging future timed exclusivity for GTA V, given that they let Rockstar out of exclusivity for GTA IV in return for an exclusive or two.
See, 360 owners should be grateful to Sony for letting them have GTA IV. Sony are nice like that see

I’ll file this in the ‘Not likely’ pile.

quick question, how many people on 360 with GTA-IV actually bought the DLC?
i think that may be why…

I traded my GTA IV back in December for NHL ’09. I just found it was a little too repetitive and frustrating when getting killed midway through a really long mission. It did not deserve those 10/10 scores it got, reviewers were sucked into the hype.

i felt the same, which is why i only played an hour or so a week while playing it, which is also y i felt the DLC would not have sold well cause everyone would be over it

Not gonna happen but i hope I’m wrong. I got GTA IV for Xbox 360 plus my cousin’s GTA IV for PS3. Lost and Damned got it too all legit no piracy fully paid.

GTA IV is the best Xbox has re buy.
Here i thought Microsoft owned the DLC. That just shows how Microsoft does good business getting DLC as a timed exclusive but saying they own it lol. Sony show lie is part of business.

Where did you see $50 million Mike?
It looks like Lost and the Damned eclipsed all other DLC (I wonder if Broken Steel will give it a run) from day one:

“Lost and the Damned… has sold one million so far, and is likely to reach two million downloads by the end of the year. A second GTA IV episode for Xbox 360 is expected by the holidays. This follows Microsoft’s statement earlier in the week that The Lost and the Damned had “eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox Live”.

It’s more then likely that the expansion is coming to PS3. It was pretty clear that it would be coming from the start thought, “six month timed Xbox 360 exclusive between Rockstar and Microsoft”.
Also I forget who said it, but one of Sony’s reps said something to the effect of “nothing stays exclusive forever” in regards to the GTA expansion.
That said, I would probably pass on it. GTA4 was fun, but like most other people, I lost interest about 75% of the way through the game.

“nothing stays exclusive foreverâ€
maybe just long enough to make a difference.
