PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain not arriving until 2010?
Heavy Rain, the PS3 exclusive from Quantic Dream, was officially unveiled at the 2008 Leipzig Games Convention last August. A 2009 release has always been assumed, and comments from Sony have strengthened those assumptions, but it seems this is now not going to happen, with the game finally seeing the light of day in 2010. At least if you believe Gametrailers.
Did you notice how I didn’t use the term “delayed” in the title? That was intentional because I fail to see how a game that has had no release date announced can be said to have been “delayed.” Quite simply, it can’t. But that hasn’t stopped numerous Web sites from stating exactly that on the basis of one man’s word.
The man in question is Gametrailers presenter Geoff Keighley, who revealed the 2010 release time frame at the end of a special video preview of the game. Whether or not you believe Gametrailers is a reliable source, the chances of this being accurate are very high seeing as Keighley was standing next to the game’s managing producer Petro Piaseckyj at the time he stated Heavy Rain would be out “next year”.
The assumption that Heavy Rain would be released in 2009 stems from the fact that while announcing the future release, David Reeves (President of SCEE at the time, since retired), said that it would be “the great game for PlayStation 3 next year.” Next year being 2009 of course. But apart from that nothing official was ever announced as to the release schedule for the game.
The game is currently in the Alpha Stage of production right now, meaning all he basic elements are there, from cut-scenes to storyline. So with only bug fixes and rigorous testing left, why isn’t the game coming out this year? I can only assume that Quantic Dream wants to avoid the traffic jam of new releases due for the holiday season and give this new and untested IP a proper chance to shine in the new year.
If that is the case then I have no complaints at this news. The PS3 has a swathe of new releases due between now and the start of 2010 so I’d hate for Heavy Rain to get lost in the downpour. And it looks as though the game is definitely worth waiting for.

So what’s this swathe of PS3 games coming out this year? God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 are the only ones I can think of that have been confirmed as a 2009 release. Not trying to push anyone’s buzzer, I just don’t know what other games are coming out.

Yeah, they honestly might even push it back because they have so much coming out at the same time (like they did with KZ2). I think Roca’s list hit most of them, however I would add Wet and Bayonetta to the multiplatform list. I love me some femme fatales.

NG Sigma 2 on PS3 = 1080p, new playable characters, plus a new auto-generation health system, new enemies and locales, and a new online mode.

there is only 2 or 3 360 games that run at a real “FULL 1080p” I think virtua fighter is one of them. All the other games on the 360 that say 1080p on the box is not really run at 1080p the 360 upscales it to 1080p. Even GTA 4 for the 360 says 1080p on the box when we all know the game run at 480p-560p max.
so whenever you see 1080p on a 360 game do not fall for it.

Plus Barnabe the first Sigma was a original Xbox Port and they took things out that existed in the xbox version and polished it up for the PS3 and called it sigma. So sure maybe 1080P was achieveable then for the PS3 being that it was game from the previous generation.

Yeah but at least it upconverts every game for the 360 to 1080P or whatever your TV can handel. The same cannot be siad for the PS3.

it looks horrible.
same goes for 360 games. but ppl dont notice the difference because theres isnt that much of a different between 720p and 1080p unless you a 40-inch tv or bigger.
I have a 50-inch tv i notice a lot of 360 games looked worse when it upscales it.
and FYI the is the only system that can truly handle 1080p and 60 FPS. i can give a list but you lists because you CANT come back with anything worth of mentioning

Personally that’s not true. The games are not perfect but they do look better. Ninja Gaiden Black was a great improvement on the 360 upconverted. The upscaller on the 360 is very good.

I didn’t actually click into it. When I did, I was directed to the Philly Examiner.com. When I clicked on his link, I was then directed to a page that read: “Hey Shu Tai form the Exmainer.com Why don’t you use your own f-ing host instead of leaching off of someone else’s account”
There is only one other site I can find reporting on it, so I think it’s safe to say that this is just a rumor at this point.
Side note: The game is a lot of fun, but at $12 a month, it’s hard to justify paying that for a 7 year old game. I would only consider it if it were to go down to about half that price.
