Real reason Activision is threatening Sony to pull PS3 and PSP support?
Some of the biggest news to come out recently stems from a comment made by the Activision’s chief. He threatened to pull support from Sony if the company does not drop the price of the PS3. However, reading between the lines there seems to be some other gripe between the two companies.
According to Times online, Activision chief, Bobby Kotick threatened to pull support from Sony’s PS3 and PSP if the company does not drop the price of the PS3.
He stated:
They have to cut the price, because if they don’t, the attach rates are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony… When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console — and the PSP too.
This is a very surprising move for one of the heads of a massive publisher to openly threaten Sony publicly. Analysts and other publishers have asked for Sony to drop the price of the PS3 as it sits at the $399 price. It isn’t the most expensive console sku on the market as the Xbox 360 Elite bundle clocks in at $399 as well. However, Microsoft has two other skus – Arcade ($199) and Pro ($299).
This is interesting that Kotick is actually using the PS3 price argument to threaten to cut ties with the PS3 and PSP. Which begs the question what does the PSP have anything to do with the price of the PS3? This is also a stark contrast to the renewed dedication and support from other major publishers such as Rockstar and EA for the PS3.
Also, considering the fact that Activision is purely a multiplatform developer that just ports code from one console to another I am not sure how pulling support from the PS3 makes any sense as it still generates a good chunk of revenue for the company.
I have to agree with Kotaku that it sounds like Kotick’s words sound a bit thorny. His comment around the royalties paid to Sony seems to be a strong culprit around his public comments.
Times Online writes:
It is not a very subtle hint, although Mr Kotick says his company paid $500 million to Sony in royalties and other goods last year, which “probably still worked out at 400 per cent of the profit they madeâ€.
I’ve sit in meetings where the executives do a financial shakedown and start kicking butt and Kotick’s recent outburst screams such a situation. I can just imagine Kotick blowing his top after looking at the amount of royalty Sony charged Activision on both the PS3 and PSP (hint, hint).
With the economic recession in progress companies are fine combing where the most money is being spent and what improvements can be made. My company just recently cut all travel expenses for this year after my CEO had a financial meeting meltdown.
I agree with Kotick that Sony needs to drop the price of the PS3, but his threat of dropping PS3 and PSP support seems to be a jab at Sony’s CEO, Howard Stringer to drop the royalty percentage more than anything else.

Yeah I’m impressed. I think it was because I was saying 2 post down that Blorge has been posting old news lately.
June 19th, 2009
Well I’m all in for cutting sony off. Come on Activision do it. Teach Sony a lesson.
June 19th, 2009
Yeah Activision, do it…take your annual milking elsewhere. I don’t think many PS3 owners would notice the difference without you…and I don’t think Sony would care given their response to this laughable posturing.
In fact, gaming would probably be a better place without a company like Activision…the true “old EA” for modern times.
I find it funny that he says PS3 development is “expensive”…how can it be expensive when you’re developing the same games over and over again, every year without fail?
Anyway, having just seen uncut God Of War 3 footage, who the fuck needs this whinging bastard and his games?
June 20th, 2009
“I don’t think many PS3 owners would notice the difference without you” –> You don’t think anyone with a PS3 would care if they don’t get any Call of Duty games?
June 20th, 2009
I think that heeding the words of this man purely to keep the uninspiring COD series on the PS3 is tripe. He is talking bullshit. Harsh words without action. He qualifies his own statements as meaningless when he mentions “looking ahead to 2010-11″.
I repeat… this isn’t news. Report back when suport IS actually pulled. Giving this asswipe any media coverage is helping him towards achieving HIS end, not gamers.
Activision is one of those companies that has no interest in furthering the art of video games, only milking franchises with scalable IPs. Activision are one of the BAD guys when it comes to gaming. They hurt the industry and insult the intelligence of the consumers that pay their bonuses. I’ll buy a new COD game when it isn’t a carbon copy of COD4. Vote with you dollars.
June 20th, 2009
In all honesty Mike your probably right. It most likely has everything to do with the Royalty Fees. Also they charge crazy fees to have a game on their service so a developer has to decide if a game will sell enough to cover the cost. So really that’s Sony’s fault and your blame shouldn’t be towards Activision. All Sony is doing is trying to follow Microsofts lead and in the process developing this messed up structure which is basically causing them to bleed money. Sony can’t be playing Microsoft’s game because any money they had they blew it on securing Bluray as a format and basically they don’t have the means to go up against Microsoft. For all the free online they give you, you have no idea how much your free really hurts the company you support. Hopefully those Japs won’t let their honour get in the way of their big heads.
June 20th, 2009
How many other companies are thinking the same thing as Activision? That’s something to ponder.
June 20th, 2009
Harry I was wondering the same thing. Plus the age old question of how many PS3 were actually bought for gaming. Because really there is a percentage of people that bought the PS3 only for a bluray player. That percentage could definately be the reason why game sales on the PS3 are so low compred to the install base. Even high profile games don’t shift hardware the way I expect them to move.
June 20th, 2009
Good points harry & CAD.
It’s weird though, not only do they often have poor game sales but Blu-ray movie disc sales are poor too
(the last Nielson numbers showed a weekly sale of $16 million in the USA, up from under $8 million the week before).
I can just see all those PS3 owners crying out it’s a really good thing as they lose out on Modern Warfare 2.
Yeah right.
June 20th, 2009
“ou don’t think anyone with a PS3 would care if they don’t get any Call of Duty games?’
There’s always the PC versions. It’s irrelevant. Acti aren’t going to drop Sony.
“I can just see all those PS3 owners crying out it’s a really good thing as they lose out on Modern Warfare 2.”
MW2 is out in 2009. Bobby is talking about 2010 and 2011. Not the same thing is it.
June 20th, 2009
I think you misunderstood me lock_down.
I know MW2 is out soon and this isn’t slated to happen (if it happens at all) until 2010/11.
I was talking about those who were saying ‘f*ck them, we don’t want or need their games’.
I think MW2 is set to be the biggest game of the year when it’s released, and it’ll sell big numbers on the PS3.
BTW poor PS3 sales?
Yes. even in Japan it’s still nothing amazing and very patchy.
It beat Xbox by less than 2,000 units last week (and we all know how badly Xbox tends to sell in Japan).

‘blah blah blah Blu-ray movie disc sales are poor blah blah blah’
Are you back to that *again*?
June 20th, 2009
SW
It was CAD that mentioned the original ‘strategy’ of using PS3 to push Blu-ray.
It is a fact that a significant slice of PS3s were bought (in the first couple of years of Blu-ray) primarily as video players by a/v enthusiasts with little or no interest in gaming.
This is true, a very fair point and completely appropriate to a thread discussing why a major dev is complaining about high costs, poor game sales and low profits from the PS3.
So too is mentioning the on the movie side of that strategy it’s nopt going too well as we can see with the low Blu-ray movie disc sales.
That’s just the truth of the matter.
What of it?
June 20th, 2009
‘It is a fact that a significant slice of PS3s were bought (in the first couple of years of Blu-ray) primarily as video players by a/v enthusiasts with little or no interest in gaming.’
You forgot to link your proof, because I know you have some, right?
June 20th, 2009
When someone tells me how you would play Grand Theft Auto on multiple discs, when you’re fully aware (as Rockstar North were) that there are 360′s floating around with no hard drives, the argument against Blu-Ray games are pretty weak.
With devs concerned about and having to consciously plan to keep multiple discs at a minimum (costs that Microsoft don’t pick up for, see: Final Fantasy XIII) I’d Blu-Ray for games has a pretty good future…oh, you’re talking about movies.
OK. Not quite sure how that ties into games, but I guess that doesn’t matter, I’m sure we can let that slide, can’t we. If you want to keep droning on about Blu-Ray movies, carry on.
Blu-Ray isn’t going away, but we may as well let some people fool themselves into thinking/wanting/believing/desperately hoping and praying that it is.
I was under the impression that very few people bought a PS3 just to play movies, though without proof, I guess some statements can be shifted to suit the nature of the argument
June 20th, 2009
substrac 6.5 million red ring console to the 360 intall base.
June 20th, 2009
Good point roca because obviously 6.5 million people went and bought a new console instead of using their insurance which they swapped for magic beans.
Curse you magic beans!!!
Remember when games for the N64 required an expansion pack to play them like perfect dark? This was one of the best selling games. If ms decide that certain games will require a hd i can’t see there being much of an outcry
June 20th, 2009
uhmmm i know 6 of my friend who to to a PS3 after M$ didnt want to repair their system. because the didnt register it. and i know about 11 ppl that have their 360 modded and they dont buy any games for it. they download their games for free.
how many ppl around the world has their 360 modded or have switch to a PS3 after RRoD
June 20th, 2009
roca why are you making shit like that up. you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about cus there is no registration required, they just ask for the serial number
“how many ppl around the world has their 360 modded or have switch to a PS3 after RRoD”
Looking at ps3 sales figures, not too many lol
June 20th, 2009
‘how many ppl around the world has their 360 modded’
What does that really have to do with anything?
I actually agree with CON, my only cause for concern would be the cost of a MS hdd for the 360 compared to the cost for a expansion pak for the n64. I can’t remember how much the expansion pak’s were sold for tho…
On top of that, people who’re buying the machine for games are going to buy the version with (premium/elite) the hard drive. The exception might be those people who’s ‘mommies’ purchased thiers for them, but they’re going to be the minority anyways.
June 20th, 2009

SW:
“You forgot to link your proof, because I know you have some, right?”
Come on SW, don’t start the pedantic BS.
Look at any of the avforums (specifically the AVS Forums in the USA and the AV Forums in the UK, probablky 2 of the biggest and best known).
They’re jammed full of people who were in this right from the start and who bought PS3s for video not games.
Bl*ody hell, they even packaged the thing (on several occasions) with Blu-ray movies to give people the push.
lock_down
I’m not saying Blu-ray is ‘going away’.
Sony will stick with it just so as not to be seen to ‘lose face’ (they kept Beta going until 2002/3, that’s how pig-headed they are when it comes to it).
You can say with total certainty now that it absolutely is not ‘the next DVD’.
DVD will see Blu-ray off as a niche product ultimately being incresingly overtaken by digital distribution within the next 5yrs.
It will never hold the majority market share.
HDDs?
We are already at the point where content is downloadable but not if you don’t have a HDD for your Xbox (well ok so Arcades now have 512mb memory but half that is used for XBL and I doubt there’s too much you can do with 256mb).
Personally I just wish they would do what they did with the data transfer cable.
You give them your Arcade serial number and they send you a 20mb HDD.
Job done.
The bullet would then finally be bitten and we can get on with properly compressed games for which 1 or 2 DVD9s is plenty sufficient.
Either that or they should get creative with the 2 disc’ing.
1 disc plays a basic version of the game and the 2 or 3 disc version gives you everything on an HDD equipped machine.
Arcade is the basic machine, you can’t seriously expect everything on the most basic machine.
The amazing thing is that 3.5yrs in there’s (afaik) 1 game out of the 1100+ games now available on Xbox 360 (including original Xbox games) where the Arcade guys get less than their HDD friends.
June 20th, 2009
So we’ve established Blu-Ray isn’t going away, which is kinda good news considering it’s integral to the PS3, so why the hell do keep banging on about Blu-Ray movie sales?
It makes no sense.
I could sit here and say DVD movie disc sales are declining, but it doesn’t seem to be impacting on DVD game sales on the 360 does it?
The two markets are completely different.
June 20th, 2009
who cares
June 20th, 2009

So assuming that “mb” is a typo for Gb, is this an admission that shipping the Arcade is impacting on the creation of games on which multiple DVD’s is a factor? (Read: Forza 3, of which there is still no explanation of how the two disc thing works).
I’m sorry, but I can’t take the “you can’t seriously expect everything on the most basic machine” thing seriously. It’s a joke, right?
I find the notion that someone who buys an SKU of a console only to find that they would need to upgrade to get the complete experience of a game ridiculous.
No, you can’t expect EVERYTHING from the cheapest console, but at the very least you expect to play all the games without problems.
And when Forza 3 arrives (which is a huge franchise says kev), a proportion of people are going to be upset when they find they have to have an impaired experience, or upgrade.
You can’t even use the argument that “oh, the numbers of Arcade are small”; the fact the Rockstar North had to take a conscience decision to keep GTA4 on one disc tells you it is a big deal.
I fully endorse your suggestion that Arcade users should be given hard drives, because maybe then Rockstar North could carry on with making a GTA of the scale which they desire, instead of having to limit it because of DVD constraints.
Then everyone benefits.

‘Come on SW, don’t start the pedantic BS. **snip**’
Trying to take a count from an AV forum on how many users purchased a piece of equipment for AV use is retarded.
Lets say there are 50,000 users on ‘your’ AV forums who use it for AV purposes, thats like what? Less than one months unit sales? That is not ‘a significant slice of PS3s’…
June 21st, 2009
LOL – don’t be pedantic, because I want to use a pedantic point ….. ROFLMAO. It’s only pedantic when it doesn’t support his opinion.
“DVD will see Blu-ray off as a niche product ultimately being incresingly overtaken by digital distribution within the next 5yrs.”
So you are saying the DD will overtake both DVD and BD as the main source of all content HH. YOU ARE DELUSIONAL. The world is nowhere near ready, not even 5 years ready for total DD.

SW
You don’t need a link. Happy He’s been here a long time and he knows the truth. It’s a fact and even Microsoft Reps hark on that bit of truth in the past. It was even something they used to use for braging. They would say the PS3 is the cheapest Bluray on the Market. Not the case anymore. SW I can’t believe you would ask for link. Shame on you!!
June 21st, 2009
So the lesson learned is that a significant % of PS3′s were used for Bluray Players because Sony used you beloved Playstation to ack as a Trojan Horse for Bluray’s paid win against HD DVD. Which elplains why a 20 Million Install Base can barley sell 1 Million in a month on your AAA games and why Activision would say that they make more money on the 360 and the Wii. It’s also the reason why Activision is saying that even if the price does drop that it might put Sony further in the hole.
“Sony’s games division lost $597 million last year, and Mr Kotick seems to think it may have to risk more losses if the £299.99 PlayStation 3 is to develop.”
June 21st, 2009
I’m confused as to whether you agree or disagree with us…
June 21st, 2009
The only people that believe your dribble CAD is your fellow fanboy xbots, no lessons learnt at all.
How is it a trojan horse when it is clearly sold to people knowing it has a bluray player ??
Your post only shows that your BITTER that HDDVD lost. Even if (and I say IF) sony so called “paid to win”, how is that any different from the emperor of paying off companies, your beloved microsoft ……
So the lesson learnt is CAD is not only BITTER, but he is contradicting himself as well.
June 21st, 2009
Aww, bless CAD…he’s not bitter, he’s in his element isn’t he?
But CAD, you’re now officially not allowed to go into one of your trademark strop’s when people knock MS and the 360.
You can’t knock Sony but then sulk when people knock MS. Well, you can if you want. You probably will anyway…

“you can’t expect EVERYTHING from the cheapest console, but at the very least you expect to play all the games without problems.”
…..and for just about all but 1 game right now you can.
You’re building you case on 1 game?
Besides, Arcade without a HDD is fine as the starter version and I think they should now treat it as such.
SW
You can dismiss it if you like, I could care less.
Spideydog
No, I’m saying events like DD
(but not only DD, HD TV services with VOD etc will be a major player too)
will be what ensures Blu-ray (as a retail movie media) never takes a majority share of the retail movie disc market….or even a big minority share.
We can already see it’s sales are stalled out this year (under 7% is what is expected in the trade, despite the coming Terminator & Star Trek movies) and there is no reason to suspect that will change next.
With every passing year it just gets too late.
June 21st, 2009
It’s not just any old game though is it?
It’s “the definitive racing game of this generation”…says Dan The Dipstick
June 21st, 2009
It may be lock_down.
….and Arcade owners can still play the game, just not with all the bells & whistles.
Big deal.
June 21st, 2009
“Will be what ensures Blu-ray (as a retail movie media) never takes a majority share of the retail movie disc market….or even a big minority share.”
Well that’s funny HH, my local video store already has a large section dedicated to BD. Only a couple months ago, the same section was just 2 shelves, now it’s 2 entire sections. The same observations are made in retail stores selling BD.
No offence, but I won’t be taking prediction advice from you, particularly when I’m seeing something different in the “Real World” not some stats you got of the net somewhere.
Love Tuesday night, cheap nights – 4 BD’s for $1.50 ea.
June 21st, 2009
Spideydog
They are trying to push the format, of course they are it’s a higher margin product.
I prefer to stick to the real world myself.
That’s why I mentioned the trade numbers and gave their actual total Blu-ray sales numbers for last year.
“Love Tuesday night”…..is some sort of rental thing?
Cheapo rentals to the PS3 gang is not really doing anything to drive the format, it’s probably better than nothing but not much.
June 21st, 2009
‘You can dismiss it if you like, I could care less.’
Well that was a let down and quite sad.
June 21st, 2009
Not sure about Spidey, but ‘Love Tuesday Night’ for me involves honey, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, a 3 legged goat and a tube of toothpaste.
June 21st, 2009
Sorry to disappoint SW but I’ve been into high def since the start and I know a lot of people who began with PS3 for a/v reasons, not gaming.
You can dismiss the idea if you like but from the movie disc sales from Blu-ray’s launch to the minute sales of the stand-alones (until recently) I think I’m on pretty solid ground.
Even the PS3s pretty low game sales at the start of PS3 indicate initial buying was split between gamers & a/v enthusiasts.
Of course the hope was always to hook them with BD and pray they bought games later, I don’t think PS3 games sales align quite right to the number of consoles out there; just as BD movie sales are nothing like quite right given the number of BD capable players there are out there if PS3 is included.
You disagree?
Good for you.
I think you’ll be in a minority on that one.
June 22nd, 2009
Good to know that you are in touch with at least %1 (still not significant) of the PS3 userbase and have quizzed them all on why they purchased thier PS3′s! *sigh*
Well I have to say, you showed me!
Anywhoos, you can go back to calling out Mike/Dave for not providing ‘proof’ to go with thier headlines…
June 22nd, 2009
Yeah, stick it to ‘the man’ Activision.
Goes to show that even Activision doesn’t see a place for the ps4th in the current market. Especially with a credit crunch et all.
If they want to sell to the hardcore they have the 360. If they want to sell to the masses/casual/high end market, they have the Wii.
June 22nd, 2009
“They are trying to push the format, of course they are it’s a higher margin product.” “Cheapo rentals to the PS3 gang is not really doing anything to drive the format, it’s probably better than nothing but not much.”
Sorry HH, I wasn’t the only one hiring BD. The majority of movies available were “hired” So I suppose that Sony is going to all the rental outlets and paying them to stock and push BD.
But your right, It must have only been the ps3 owners hiring BD …… whatever !!!! You live in the real world indeed ….. NOT !!!!
We get it HH, you hate anything Sony and hate anything BD and will say anything to discredit them. No go blow your hate trumpet elsewhere.
June 22nd, 2009
why is HH still talking nonsense about Bluray movies. I can care less about bluray movies as long as I get my games on a bluray disc and not on 5 DVD dics im good.
Bluray sales doesnt affect the PS3, so stop talking about bluray sales which is pointless.
June 22nd, 2009
Yeah Roca, why mention Blu-ray movies in a thread about low PS3 game sales and game devs complaining about not making money on it?
How does that work?
How could it’s intial push as the best spec’d Blu-ray movie player possibly come into this?
Jeezzzus wept.
Seeing as this site love to quote TG Daily here’s todays news which confirms pretty muc weverything I’ve said about the state of Blu-ray as a movie disc seller –
“World gives Blu-ray the thumbs down
Adoption of Blu-ray players is slow to the point of statis, with few takling the plunge, according to a survey.
Harris Interactive at the end of last week released details of a poll that shows only one in ten Americans own an HD DVD player. But only seven percent owned a Blu-ray player, the survey said.
The results of the poll included owners of a Sony Playstation 3, which plays Blu-ray.
Worse, from the point of view of Blu-Ray vendors, the poll of 2,401 US adults showed that given the choice to switch to this format, two out of five people will wait for the price of consumables and drives to fall before they buy. And only one in five will replace or duplicate their existing standard format library with Blu-Ray format.”

SW
If you’re going to post a thread calling people a liar or pretending that a change of job means they have “doubts” about a new and unreleased tech and are “jumping ship” don’t you think the least that ought to be included in the tale is a just a little but of little relevant proof?
I can see no quote anywhere where Balmer actually says the completely new next gen of Xbox is coming in 2010.
I can see very short quotes which are very ambiguous and that make a lot more sense if he is referring to the new Valhalla 360 & it being launched with Natal or even slightly optimised in the hardware for Natal.
In fact Balmer later came out publicly and said he did not intend anyone to take his meaning as being that there is a brand new gen of Xbox (720 or whatever) due.
I can see quotes of that but sadly it was not picked up here.
How come?
Ditto in that I can’t see one shred of evidence to support the suggestion that John Schappert’s new job has anything to do with Natal
(which as far as I can make out had nothing to do with his work at Microsoft , afaik he was connected to XBL, not Natal).
Since when did changing jobs (particularly going back to your old company) for one offering more money mean you must be “jumping ship” or ‘doubting’ a new tech unrelated to your previous job there?
It’s pi$$ poor stuff, IMHO.

June 22nd, 2009
the joke is on you Happy, as your posts are always nothing more than a joke
So, let me get this straight: Its okay for you to “back up” CAD in his anti-Sony, MS ball hugging posts, but as soon as “Sony” fans retort, its a joke?
Your funny Happy, you have always amused me, i enjoy getting you all hot and bothered
Again, i’ve already exposed you for the hypocrit you are, and how you hate anything Sony.
Also, back to the BR/HD DVD thing. Sorry, but Sony wasn’t the sole backer of BR, Sony just happened to learn from Betamax and actually got A LOT of studio support, HD DVD was the one where ONE company was pushing it on people: Toshiba. BR was backed from the get go by Disney ( thats also includes Buena Vista, Pixar) Sony themselves ( Columbia, Tristar, MGM ) and Fox ( whatever their divisions are) along with Legendary Pictures and a whole lot of others
HD DVD was only backed by the DVD Association with the sole major backer being Toshiba.
The only “exclusive” studios HDDVD had were The Weinstein Company, New Line Cinema, Paramount. Those were the big hitters. Universal was still up in the air before they announced along with Paramount their as it turned out 1 year exclusive support
Whats ironic is you can find this information on the AVSForums that you claim to visit, yet your ignorance on the subject shows you don’t really pay too much attention to facts Happy, but is it you, so im not surprised
For all others who are truly interested, these three sites are some of the best ones to gather HT information about, including the FACT the PS3 is STILL one of the best BR players out there, spoken from 3 of the most, in my opinion, highly regarded sites

Don’t worry Happy they’re not smart enough to understand/in denial they own a system that has two features in one and that at one time it was the cheapest Bluray players available so enthusiast who wanted to jump into Bluray would look to the PS3 because they rather pay $700 then $1500 for a standalone that was not upgradable. They’re not smart enough to realize that a portion of PS3′s sold were used for bluray players and not games. They’re not smart enough to realized that because of this, it is the reason why PS3 game sales are low despite the 20 Million install base. They’re not smart enough to remember that they once used to toot their horns about the PS3 being the cheepest players on the market. The reason they do this is because they hate to hear the truth about their dying system. It’s as simple as that so don’t waste your breath on them.

If you were indeed including myself in there, I was simply asking for proof.
Anyways, continue on with the ‘insult thier intelligence’ attack… For your next post may I suggest trying to insult those younger than yourself, or perhaps those with less possesions or ‘life accomplishments’…
If all else fails, there are ‘your momma so fat…’ jokes to fall back on…
June 23rd, 2009
I have to admit, I only scan the comments these days for HH and Cad, always good for a chuckle.
But for true Hilarity, I am a Harry Sachz Devotee~
June 23rd, 2009
And obviously CAD is not smart enough to know when he is posting stupid remarks. That has to be one of the most moronic fucking statements I have ever seen you post. Are you sniffing petrol or something when you type your drivel?
Fact remains the numerous articles on the net regarding this is that Activision have admitted they are lazy developers and not interested in pushing the boundaries of what current consoles can do. It’s easier to develop on Xbox and port over to PS3 smacks of laziness.
Plenty of developers out there try to sqeeze the most out of the console whether its PS3, Xbox or Wii, and talking to a couple friends who work for game companies are investing time to get the most out of each console.
This is where innovation originates by going the extra mile, not coding on one system and porting it over.
LBP, MGS, KZ2, Uncharted show what the PS3 can do, while GOW, Halo, Forza show what the Xbox can do.
Guaranteed none of those games would be as good as they are if they were coded to be ported to different systems.
Maybe it’s time for publishers to stop blaming others and actually have their employees actually do some work.

Mr RAGE ….. settle down. Hit a nerve did we ??
Come back when you have an argument that is original. So far all your retorts have been those that have been labelled at you ….. Can you not come up with your own material ????
HH Quote: “Pi$$ off and do your sad little leg-humping dog stalker act with someone who gives a sh*t.â€
You obviously do, because you ALWAYS respond and ALWAYS get angrier in your responses ….. !!!!
HH Quote: “……whilst posing as a neitral but always managing to say sweet F.A. to the resident village idiots who slam everything Microsoft & Nintendo at every opportunity.â€
I retort ….. here is but one of many times, I have posted something in support of 360 that you conveniently miss …. Why ??? Because unless I am blowing sunshine up MS’s ass and dissing Sony, you don’t see it as neutral.
My Quote: “John Schappert doubts future of Xbox 360 – Natalâ€
Drawing a long bow there Mike !!!! LOL Might need a little more than a sudden resignation to support the thread title.â€
Get your facts straight before shooting from the hip and once again looking like an idiot.

‘But for true Hilarity, I am a Harry Sachz Devotee~’
Yeah, that man has got talent.
June 23rd, 2009
Jerbus H, what a pathetic transparent couple you guys are.
So desperate & so obviously hoping to provoke a strong emotional response.
As if.
That says more about yourselves than anyone else.
Projecting, again.
Wake up & grow up children, it CE products we’rte discussing, not people, your family or the love of your life (……at least I’d hope not).
Fail.
Badly.
June 23rd, 2009
^ and in English please !!!
Pathetically, hilariously laughably laughable, Yes we are. I bow to thee almighty HH.
It is you Mr RAGE that is taking things waaaay to serious. Practice what you now preach and all will be good.
June 23rd, 2009
Wow, how stunningly magnanimous of you Spideydog.
Arrogant much?
June 23rd, 2009
Who guys, everything seems to be getting a little heated in here. I know we all wind each other up but maybe we should all take a step back, take a deep breath and get back to bashing sony tat.
June 23rd, 2009
BTW, I just got confirmation of my 3 day pass to the F1 night race in Singapore in Sept.
Mr RAGE (where are the idiotic zillion ‘!’s?)?
You couldnt be further from the truth if you tried.
June 23rd, 2009
Where has Ivan been the last few days? We need his non existent grip on the English language to lighten the mood and give us all something to laugh about. That and his comically unwavering blind love of all things sony.
June 23rd, 2009
Hay Happy, you jammy twat! I would love to see that race. Looked at it last year. Are you from Singapore or going over just for that? Where are you staying? And I can recommend a fantastic Indian restaurant if you like that sort of food.
June 23rd, 2009
I’m going there for almost a month in Sept.
My bro lives over there & he got me the pass for my birthday prezzy.
I’ll be in the Bay Grandstand with City View, apparantly the cars fly pass below you!
My bro took his son last year so he should know the ropes & make sure I see the good stuff.
I’ll be at my bro’s place (and I have no idea where that is in relation to anything else over there).
I’m a big fan of Asian cuisine so please, go ahead, I’ll be there a while, hit me with the restaurant details, I’d be much obliged.
My bro reckons it’s the number one place in the world for buying CE products at amazing prices.
You never know, if the price is right I might even come home with a PS3.
(yeah right
)
A Zen Vision W is on my shopping list of I see one at a nice price.
June 23rd, 2009
I was in Singapore for work last year. Went to Clark Quay for some dinner one night with my cousin, then went to some boutique brewery who had some pretty original beers (orange peel and lemongrass beer etc) and ended up at a place called ‘Marrakesh’ sharing a hubbly bubbly. Was a little green around the gills the next morning, but it was fun!
June 23rd, 2009
Oh, so now I’m arrogant. Bah hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha.
“idiotic zillion ‘!’s?”
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????????????????????????????????sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Is there anything else that offends Mr RAGE ….
June 23rd, 2009
Spideydog
A friendly word of advice, get off it, you’re just making a c*nt of yourself now.
June 23rd, 2009
Thanks harry, duly noted.
I hear it’s a hell of a place for food, drink & general, er, ‘entertainment’.
June 23rd, 2009
The Indian is called the Banana Leaf Apolo and is (suprise suprise) in Little India. Its not post. The first night there my wife and I went and we got all dressed up. We got a taxi and passed loads of nice looking indians. We ended up at what looked like a busy cafe. But the food was amazingly tasty. You tell it was on of the best as it was full and really busty but the others were quiet.
Like Hary mentioned too, Clark Quay is good too.
When buying CE goods beware. Everything is great and legit but sometimes the shop vendors will try it on. We bought an iPod nano. It was way cheaper than back in UK. But majority of cheap shops tried to get me to buy power adaptors etc… All of which I didn’t need. One guy told me the iPod was useless without one and couldn’t be charged without it. Hello, USB cable! Just tell them that you have one already or something. There is a HUGE electronics emporium. I can’t remember where but its about 10 floors high and is well known with loads of shops selling all electronic good.
The boutique brewery sounds good. I will have to try that next time I am there. Sentosa is good but do it yourself. Don’t go on a trip. And enjoy the F1. The way the old farts are looking after the sport (Max and Bernie) it could be the last time it is there.
June 23rd, 2009
@HH, Thats rich coming from you… a person that has continually made a fool of yourself and been caught out contradicting yourself incessantly. Are you now saying that you have decided to be reasonable ?
June 23rd, 2009
Thanks Andrew, all noted and destined for a try-out.
June 23rd, 2009
Where is HOCKUM-LAND?
June 23rd, 2009
Roca
A very picturesque & beautiful rural part of the UK, close to the coast
(and basking in glorious summer sunshine right now thank you for asking…..and you?).
June 23rd, 2009
Happy, you’ve gotta admit, you’re a bit more partisan in these discussions than the rest of the “grown-up” crowd. And you fling “projection” at your detractors constantly, which is essentially the big-boy version of “I know you are but what am I.”
*shrugs* Whatever, though, I guess no one is being forced to read what you write here, right?
So, are any of you Brits going to be following Wimbledon for the next fortnight? I’m from the States, but I’ll be glued to my tv every day so i don’t miss anything.

June 23rd, 2009
@HH – How can you stand F1?
Ugh, I find it so damn boring…
June 23rd, 2009
And now Arvis is a tennis fan, you guys are killing me!
June 23rd, 2009
SW,
Anything is boring if you don’t really understand it.
Once you delve into the intricacies of something like tennis or F1 racing (or talking about video games online), you begin to appreciate it more. Also, being a fan of certain players gets you personally invested, and then every point is exciting!
Same with racing, if you like a certain driver/team/car company, etc…

Well if you disagree you disagree, that’s fair enough.
Tennis?
I’m not such a big fan but last night I discovered xvYCC on my HD receiver & HD TV.
Fack me what a difference.
Here the BBC’s HD TV service is usually seen as the best broadcast quality but it was undoubtedly the best image I’ve seen to date (and in fact even SD TV broadcasts were looking pretty amazing).
SW
I’ve loved racing, engines bikes and cars since forever.
I think it probably started as a noise thing…..although riding and driving later in life just took it to another level.
I used to live very close to a stockcar race oval when I was about 3 – 5yrs old.
They say once it gets into your blood it’s there for life.
You must have missed out on that.
June 23rd, 2009
‘Once you delve into the intricacies of something like tennis or F1 racing’
Watching the same guys stay in pretty much the same positions for like 60 laps is a smidge boring for my simple brain (except the wet days when they all crash on like the first lap). It has been a while since I last watched it (back when Schumey was dominating) so maybe its more competative now.
Strap some machine guns to those racers and we might be onto something – I fear that may mess up the aerodynamics tho.
As for tennis, its one of those sports I put in the ‘cricket class’. Quite fun to play, fucking boring to watch.
My opinion only!..
June 23rd, 2009
Are you so insecure HH that you have to bash people for EVERY difference in opinion? I love F1, and most non-nascar racing to be honest, but I also understand that it isn’t for everyone.
“You must have missed out on that”
In the immortal words of Harry Sachz: Dickhole.
June 23rd, 2009
JofaMang
Try again.
Or.
I’d love to see you explain where I “bashed” anyone for a difference of opinion about F1, racing or any of this?
Go ahead, I’m looking forward to it…….
(and your indecent haste to start the name calling on the back of your fantasy is priceless)
June 23rd, 2009
“They say that once it gets in your blood it’s there for life.
You must have missed out on that”
This statement implies that not being a motorsports fan means that something is missing. You qualify your enjoyment for F1 by saying its in your blood. You take a superiority stance purely based on someone not agreeing with one of your hobbys.
BTW, did you hear about the break away series that has been emerging over the past few days, with something like 8 major teams leaving F1 to start their own international series? Bernie Ecclestone (Mr Burns) deserves far worse.
June 23rd, 2009
Hows is bluray research for college going HH?
June 23rd, 2009
JofaMang
I don’t know why but I can hinestly say that you have put a meaning in there that was not my intention at all.
I hope you’ll take my word for it.
(if I really had intended a dig it would have been a hell of a lot less cryptic, believe me)
How can a different preference for a hobby or a sport be seen as a “superiority stance”?
I really don’t get that at all.
People do say that motorsport is a thing that gets into the blood, it’s just a pretty common saying, it is nothing to do with any sort of condescending nonsense.
Not every hobby is for everyone, self-evidently, it’s a tad tragic to see ideas of ‘superiority’ or ‘inferiority’ on the back of that.
Do you think SW is the 1st person I even encountered who wasn’t into F1 or any other motorsport?
My Mrs thinks the car stuff is about boring as can be and I love the bones of her.
I was going to say as boring as golf but several friends of mine love golf and I sure as hell do not see them as superior to me or inferior to me because of it….and I suspect I’m probably in a minority there if the usual blanket TV golf coverage is anything to go by.
The FOTA break-away?
Yes, it looks possible but it is worth remembering that this kind of thing has come up before (and with pretty seriously with things like a drivers strike happening).
Kenny Roberts (3 times running M/C WC) threatened something similar with the bikes in the 1980s too.
Nothing came of it all though.
I suspect it’s because a rebalancing is due and something like that looks likely.
But Bernie E. for all his faults is a very successful business man and has grown F1 to what it is today.
I doubt they’ll ditch him (and he owns all the F1 rights).
Similarly Mosley (as Pres) has, despite occasional rows, run the FIA pretty well
(in spite of his, er, colourful personal life being splashed all over the papers……anyone joining the dots yet as to what that was really all about?
Can you say character-ruining set-up?).
The teams taking charge of everything would not only be fundamentally all wrong (and bound to cause all sorts of unHoly rows down the line) but well outside their expertise and I suspect that when it comes to it they would prefer a face-saving route out of this.
Mosley has wound more than a few of them up quite badly (his latest being with Briatore, apparantly an associate of ‘loonies’) I suspect Max’s head will be the price for everyone going back to playing nice.
Mind you he retires soon anyways so maybe it’ll fizzle out.
Interesting few months of gossip & back-stabbing ahead!
June 23rd, 2009
I’m with you Happy, I think Jofa read nastiness in your comment where there was none. Can’t say I blame him though. I think everyone’s just used to your comments coming off as more than a tad snide.
I have to admit, though, I like how passionate you are about your interests. I think that might be the one thing we have in common…

What did I say, huh?

Did you get a look at the girl that beat her? Gisela Dulko is no slouch. Very lithe, athletic body.
Also, you might want to try and catch Caroline Wozniacki’s next match. Prettiest girl on the tour right now.
