Myth or Fact: Left 4 Dead 2 on PS3
Left 4 Dead 2 has been receiving some attention after it was announced during E3 this year. There has also be a rumor that the Left 4 Dead series will be heading towards the PS3. However, speculation around a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead 2 intensified today as EA listed a PS3 version on the official Web site.
As many of you already know, I have been hyping Left 4 Dead as one of my favorite Xbox 360 games lately. The game has occupied a good portion of my time since late last year with its addictive co-op modes. However,with Valve receiving a bit of flack from the hardcore members of the Steam and Xbox 360 community for announcing what many are now calling Left 4 Dead 1.5.
Many have questioned Valve’s decision to break tradition by releasing Left 4 Dead 2 so early considering the company’s legendary 10 year support. Literally, we may have to wait another decade to get Half Life episode three.
Today, news broke across the Web as reports of Left 4 Dead 2 listed for the PS3 on the official EA site. The listing was quickly taken down and a response was sent out indicating that this was a mistake on EA’s part.
However, there are many factors with this incident that makes it difficult to pass this by as just a mistake:
- EA suddenly had the PS3 listed under Left 4 Dead 2’s description page
- EA had Left 4 Dead 2 listed under PS3 Game’s list on a separate page
- A PS3 labeled L4D2 box art was created and put up on the site
- Other games such as Tales of Vesperia have been put up on official sites by “mistake” to only be proven to be coming out on the PS3 later on

If there is indeed a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead 2, EA may be developing the game independently from Valve, which may not be a bad thing judging from the latest EA games. After all EA has come a long way from the Orange Box and Madden 07.
Also, it will be interesting to see if Valve’s decision to release L4D2 only one year after the first game has anything to do with a PS3 version being developed. We will just have to wait until the end of this year or sometime in 2010 if its a timed exclusive, to find out the truth.
Myth or Fact: Fact, this rumor is more than likely just be the sheer occurrences of the listings and boxart asset creation for L4D2. There is also the fact that L4D is now a proven franchise to the head honchos over at EA.

I agree. It seems that this wasn’t just one small mistake. I’ll bet on a timed exclusive.
That said, I’m not a fan of Valve. If the sequel only has 4 maps like the original, I’ll be passing on this.

You’re one of the lucky few who don’t need one. Not sure about over there, but here in Aus a lot of people are getting their landlines disconnected and are using their mobile phones only, as it works out being cheaper (for them anyway, not the poor buggers who have to pay mobile rates to talk to them).

Most people I know have dropped their landlines in favour of their Cells not because it is cheaper, but because they can’t live without the Cell, and see the landline as needless expense. And here in Canada, we still get raked over the coals for cell service. My unlimited NA long distance and all the bells and whistles (call display, answer service, etc) run about $40 bucks a month before internet bundle deals, but a comparable cell plan for both my Wife and I is well over 140 a month.
I have been feeling the peer pressure (at 30 years old, hunh) about getting one. Too many times I get home from work or shopping or whatever to find out I missed an event or a drop by or some other social event because I couldn’t be reached.
Its like murder in minority report: as more murders were being stopped, people started getting more impulsive with far less warning before they try to commit the act. Since so many people have cells as part of their normal existence, there seems to be FAR less planning and more compulsiveness when doing social shit, since implementation and alteration of plans can happen instantly, as opposed to waiting for someone to get home from work…

I think we have all got the wrong end of the stick with this article. We have take it out of context. What has ACTUALLY been said on the EA website is :
“EA has Left 4 Dead the ps4th”

Here in the US it’s the same. A majority of people don’t have land lines. I’m not one of those people who are attached to my cellphone constantly, but it is covenant. Texting is even more covenant than talking.

I’d be more inclined to believe that they would make the sequel on the ps3. One thing we know about EA, and it’s they love money. Having the first one on the ps3 was a gamble. Now that the franchise established itself there is probably a lot less fear of it being a bomb and a waste of money to port.
The way its sounding anyway is that the sequel is the version that should have come out to begin with anyway.

Honestly don’t underderstand how people think one system is better over the other based on what place in sales it is in and what it is named. Wii is 1st in sales, then 360, and then PS3, not counting the handhelds and PS2. However I like the PS3 the best, then the 360, and then the Wii. That’s just my opinion and don’t expect anyone to agree with me. Just pointing out that I don’t give a rats ass what a system is called or how many it has sold. I’m a hardcore gamer and want to experience the best of what each has to offer.

whats wrong feeling lonely? I know i didnt used any logic on name thingy, but i was just being as stupid as Andrew saying PS4th on every single post. That post was just for Andrew and it wasnt meant to be taken serious.
just like you I owned all the console untill my x360 died 3 months ago. I also like to play all the available for each console. I got 2 PS2 (one to play all the japanese game as they are region locked), 2 PSPs, a Wii, 2 DS’s, a DSI, and 60GB PS3. and I still have all my x360 games just to have in my collection.
I not a fanboy of any console im just being realisitc. and the reality is:
-360 was my console of choice 2005-2006 and mid 2007 as there were more games for the system.
-as more games started to come out for the PS3 i found myselft playing the PS3 the most (specially exclisve)
-my 360 died (which is not my fault at all) so im all PS3 now
-and in my opinion the PS3 first party exclusive is second to none (in terms of quality and quantity)
but yeah nothing i say should be taken personal

Well im not a Fanboy because I own/support all the consoles. but if u ask which one do I think is the better systen, I say the PS3. (there is not such thing as “all the console are the same, there’s always one console better than the other)
I say this based on 3 things:
1- Hardware
We all know the PS3 has best Hardware between the 3 systems PS3/X360/Wii. With all the extra stuff at no extra cost.
2- Software.
Sony hast the most Exclusive between the 3 console. Their First Pary studio is the biggest in the gaming industry and they just dont fucus on one Genre or just one Franchise, they keep bringing New IPs on every genre out there. Also they are getting more exclusive from 2nd and 3rd party companies like, Square-Enix, Level-5, Insomniac, Sucker Puch, SEED, Rockstar and more.
3- Service
As of right now XBL has more feature, but the PSN is closing the GAP really fast. we also have to acknowledge that the PSN is free. and to me PSN library has more to offer than the XBL gaming library. And I’ll take PS1 Classic over Original Xbox games any day of the week.

1. the hardware of the ps3 was not designed as a gaming console first. so to say it has the best gaming hardware is false and flies in the face of what sony, themselves, have been stating since launch. if it was the “best’ hardware, developers wouldn’t be dumping their projects to dev for the 360 and wii. meanwhile, and entire publisher, Activision, is publicly stating they may drop future Call of Duties, Guitar Heroes and other stellar franchises due to the ps3 inability to make money. so, the ps3 has the best hardware? not from any angle….sorry… congrats on the bluray player tho; IF the consumer has a hdtv to take advantage of the feature they’re paying for w/o choice….
2. yes, the ps3 has the most exclusives. however, if the quality was a high as you claim, more people would be buying ps3 games more aggressively. however, the ps3 has the lowest tie in ratio of all of the consoles. again…”best” games? not according to the consumers…
3. you clowns have been saying PSN will close the gap since it launched….hasn’t happened….still isn’t happening….yet you continue to make promises you know will never come to pass…..all while calling yourself “not a fanboy”….lmao…priceless…
since you like playing older games, it might interest you that the ps3 isn’t backwards compatiable with most of the ps2’s library, whereas the xbox is compatible with most of its olde library…..
