Transformers’ Shia LaBeouf talks games – calls Wii “an amateur console”
Shia LaBeouf hates the Wii. Which has made him go up massively in my estimation. LaBeouf is a huge gamer and recently discussed his video gaming loves and hates. Some of his loves may be contentious, but his big hate surely won’t provoke much anger, certainly here on the PS3 and Xbox 360 loving Blorge.
You either love or hate Shia LaBeouf. The love will likely come from his role in bringing the Transformers into the 21st century, while the hate may stem from his appearance as Mutt Williams in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, a truly terrible movie. But love him or hate him, he knows his video games.
Shia’s anti-Wii rant came after Big Download asked him, “Have you checked out the Wii Transformers game?” His response kind of sums up what most of us think of the little white console but are afraid to say in public.
I haven’t been able to play the Wii game because my hand is broken. I’ve just been playing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I would imagine that the Wii experience will be like…I don’t mess with the Wii, to be honest with you. It’s kind of an amateur console. I’m not into the Wii thing.
This is how in a simple way you can find out if it’s a gamer you want to play with. Ask them if they have a Wii. If they say yes, get the f*** out of there.
Who wants to play the Wii version of LEGO Star Wars? I’d rather eat glass.
That final comment came after it was reported LaBeouf wouldn’t play LEGO Star Wars on the Wii on the set of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, despite it being his sexy co-star Megan asking him to do so. I may not be a fan of the Wii either but I’d do pretty much anything Megan Fox asked me to do, things a lot sicker than playing the Wii.
It isn’t all hate coming from LaBeouf though. He revealed a love for Mortal Kombat, Doom, Donkey Kong, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mario Kart when he was growing up, and Civilization and The Godfather II more recently. Oh, and he rather unsurprisingly loves the new Transformers game. Just not the Wii version.

As a relatively hardcore PC gamer, as well as an avid console gamer, I can honestly say the Wii is an amateur piece of gear. Shitty Ladouche didn’t need to say that to validate it for me. His mom probably wouldn’t let him hook up his wii in the livingroom, so in a fit he threw it against the wall, and bashes it in shame.

Anyways its great to know that general game guru and master of the universe Shia, doesn’t like the Wii, well except the super awesome (see : suckage) transformers tie in game.
Like the previous transformers game, I promise you that it will get boring after you’ve transformed about 3 times and the coolness wears off.

In all honesty, there are very few Wii games i actually own myself: Zelda, Metroid, SSBB, Super Punchout….i believe that is about all that interested me…oh and Okami and…dang i can’t remember that other game….it had a guy with a sword with lotsa blood lol, ill check when i get home…

I really can’t see a viable argument in the wii’s favor in comparison to the other two consoles.
It would be like comparing the xbox or ps2 to their respective upgraded consoles.
the wiimote really hurts games IMO more than helps them. I feel bogged down by the control scheme more so than anything. I tried playing the last bond game. What a shit fest. For the life of me I can’t see how that would be casual friendly. I was just a pain in the ass to play.

It is about taste and choice.
In my opinion Okami and RE4 both felt great in Wii compared with their past counterparts. I have to admit that Okami got some issues with dodging, but the celestial brush part is on the spot. Mario Galaxy plays similarly: ad a pointer to interact with the game. This control scheme reminds me the mouse on the PC and feels quite intuitive and confortable. It´s like using a mouse and a joystick at the same time (I never liked to use the keyboard much).
My brother seriously owns people at Mario Kart Wii Online while using the Wiimote whereas other people tend to use the gamecube controller because they don´t like the former .
Zack&Wiki and Boom Blox make good use of it. Rail shotters are not that stupid with the Wiimote (Umbrella Chronicles got my girlfriend into RE4!).
Not everyone get it right (haven´t tried Quantum, Brawl feels awkard with the “shake smash”, Red Steel needs polishing) but when well implemented it is far from hurting.

I friend of mine had the same issue while I didn´t. He solved the problem changing the Infrared bar from the bottom of the TV to the Top (or was it viceversa?).
The Wii should include an integrated section to toggle/check the accuracy of the Wiimote whenever needed á la “Twilight Princess”. The current one is not very good and I think this would help solve such problems.

well guess what i have been through 4 of them, the last one died 3 months ago. and 3 months ago was in 2009. so there.
And the RRoD is not a thing from 2005 it still happens but its not as alarming as it was in 2005 because people are now used to it. I think the percentage is down from 60% to 40% or something like that.

Yeah I hear you Roca, I’m on my 3rd Xbox360 myself! However I have not had to pay a cent to have these replaced through Microsoft. Yeah the % of faliure was pretty high, way past what is normal. To say the faliure rate is still 40% is kinda pushing it! I doubt it’s even close to that, care to provide proof of that? I can tell you one thing though, I will not be an early adopter of the nex Microsoft console! I will wait it out for a
little bit and see if they have learned their lesson! One thing I can give Sony props for is not rushing the PS3 and launching when they were happy that they had a quality product to ship to the consumers.

There aren’t exactly mass thread/reports of people with drives that won’t read blu rays discs.
And while some people here will say that the blue laser has a shorter life than CD/DVD type lasers, you also have to remember that most PS3 games install and therefore are not using the drive constantly.
I also have an issue with this : ‘Microsoft is a software company’
You almost make it sound like because MS makes most of thier $$$ from software that somehow that excuses them a little from the RRoD fiasco.
When you design/release a piece of hardware, you make damn well sure its failure rate stays within industry standards.
To thier credit they extended the warranty and obviously have redesigned the 360 multiple times since then and it seems to be working out for them.

Well since the first Xbox Microsoft is now in the console and thus hardware business, so that does not excuse their rushing out of Xbox 360 and thus high faliure rates. As for what you say about the PS3, BS if you ask me. I have had my 60GB PS3 from day one and have watched alot of Blu Ray movies and played alot of games on it. So far so good. Yes I’m sure people have had problems with the PS3, but nowhere near as much as the 360. Yes I know the PS3 was delayed some because of Blu Ray, but bottom line their hardware is light years ahead of Microsoft in terms of reliability!
