There has been a bit of controversy surrounding a comment the senior VP of EA made. The VP indicated that the Xbox 360 is maxed out while the PS3 still has room to grow. This comment has started many flame wars spanning NeoGaf to Gametrailers. However, one has to wonder if comparing the two consoles is akin to comparing apples to oranges.

Natal was Microsoft’s big announcement during the E3 2009 press conference. The concept of Natal was that the gamer would use their body as the controller instead of the gamepad. However, hints given by Microsoft execs and rumors around the Web point towards the possibility of the company releasing a new next gen console.

inFAMOUS is the latest creation by Sucker Punch Productions, responsible for the famed Sly Cooper series back on the PS2. The studio has taken a radical departure from its traditional fare to create a brand new IP with inFAMOUS, which unfolds like a comic book story.

One of the biggest surprises to come out of Microsoft’s press conference this year at E3 was the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2. This announcement caused a huge uproar with the hardcore Left 4 Dead fanbase as the first game was only released six months ago. Many feel that Valve is taking advantage of the loyal fanbase by cashing in on a sequel so quickly.

And there we all were thinking the games industry was out of reach of the recession. Not a chance. The NPD sales data for May shows that this industry is just as much at risk from the economic downturn as any. Having said that, Nintendo is still doing OK. Sales are down across the board but the DS continues to shine.

Mass Effect made a huge splash when it came out in late 2007. The story and atmosphere was engrossing with a dialog tree that was praised for its inventiveness. Bioware ups the ante with Mass Effect 2 by making the game even more like a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ book.

Microsoft unveiled Project Natal at E3 2009 last week, and it was the talking point of the show. Final Fantasy XIV may have been a bigger surprise but Natal has provoked debates and mixed opinions by the bucket loads. Now, there are reports that Natal could be incompatible with people with darker skin tones. That’s right folks, Project Natal is racist!

An interesting study reveals the popularity of the announcements at Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2009. The study was conducted via one of the biggest hardcore gaming forums around. It really is interesting to see the discrepancy between the hype created by the media versus the reaction of a sample pool of actual consumers.
