Mass Effect 2 shocking ending revealed – new exploration
Mass Effect 2 is the epic science fiction RPG set to come out in 2010 that continues the story of Shepard. The game looks like its shaping up quite nicely with tweaks to the combat and exploration. The developers at Bioware recently revealed a shocking twist to one of the potential endings in a new dev diary from Bioware.
The good PR folks from Bioware, sent over the latest details for Mass Effect 2 in the latest dev diary. The developers reveal some new details about the game. One of the major improvements in the game is around the exploration. In the first game pretty much every planet you can travel to would be dull looking with very little to explore. You could highlight the planet you want to travel to and the same cut scene of the Normandy flying through space would be shown over and over again.
Previously the developers revealed that this time around they would aim for quality rather than quantity. This means that there will most likely be less planets to explore but each planet will be a fully flushed out world instead of a barren shell like in the first game. Also, the developers have changed things a bit on the galaxy map, as you won’t be able to just select any planet on the map and fast travel there.
There are factors such as fuel consumption to micro manage. Also, after arriving at a planet you won’t be able to just land on it. You will have to do some investigation to look for clues before landing on the planet.
Apparently, in Mass Effect 2 there will be several distinct alternative endings to the game. The developers reveal a shocking revelation, apparently in one of the endings Shepard could end up dead as part of the story.
I am not sure how the story would carry over for Mass Effect 3 if Shepard ends up dead in your saved game for Mass Effect 2. It will be interesting to see how the developers plan on carrying over multiple story threads across games.

This game is incredible. The atmosphere alone. It really feels like you’re in a sci fi movie at times except that you’re in full control. And it’s just made to be played over and over again, each time with a different outcome.

I don’t enjoy games with frustrating difficulty.

@Harry, neither do I, it just shits me and I end up putting the controller down and never playing again.

@ spidey, definitely. Very recent example is Last Remnant. I am up to the final boss battle, The Conqueror, and he has this magic attack that kills 4 of my 5 unions at once, and my surviving union has something like 100HP left (which is basically nothing) and have a spell cast on them that doesn’t let them do anything but a basic attack. In order to beat him i’m going to have to level up about 10 more times, which is ridiculous, so I have given up and have concentrated on Prototype. Throwing people at buildings and watching them bounce off the walls is a lot more fun than running around a field slaying the same monster again and again.

Harry, ever played EDF 2017? Simple fun at its best! I picked it up for about $10 new from Amazon as part of a 2 pack with Samurai Warriors 2. Also, just picked up Blue Dragon (hopefully it comes this time) and Viva Pinata for $10 (with tax) apiece new from New Egg. That place is great, so far I’ve gotten Rainbow 6 Vegas, Stuntman Ignition, Stranglehold, Crackdown, Dark Sector, PGR4, Project Sylpheed and the above mentioned titles all new for $10 apiece.

CharlieB,
No, never played it, but I noticed that you played it last time you were online. I think it’s in the discount bins over here, I might take a look.
Let me know how Blue Dragon is, after i’m done with Prototype I will be out of unfinished games.

Its kind of cool that if your character dies they’ll have an alternate story line.
Heavy Rain is taking the same approach.

phranctoast, they’re very different games, it’s hard to group them outside of being sandbox games. both are great games though…buy both!!! Or at least hire them.
@ chris, maybe if i get desperate i’ll finish last remnant. It had better be a good finish to the storyline or I’m going to be pissed.

was my response adequate, Ivan?
