Fat Princess: Another blockbuster downloadable game coming this week
Fat Princess is probably one of the most anticipated downloadable games this year. The game has also been teased since last year to much acclaim from critics. Titan Studio, the developers of Fat Princess held a beta for the game, which was well received. Yesterday, the developers announced that the game will be coming out this week.
Over at the Playstation Blog, Jeff Rubenstein spoke to the developers of Fat Princess, Chris Millar and Craig Leigh. The developers of Titan Studio revealed that Fat Princess will be released exclusively on the Playstation Network this Thursday. The developers talked about voice chat improvements and new mode additions to the game.
I thoroughly enjoyed my hands on time with the beta and have been looking forward to experiencing the complete version. According to the developers, Fat Princess will have a full on story mode about how the delicious cake was first discovered, which in turn became the catalyst for the war between the two kingdoms.
There is another mode called Gladiator mode which looks like a survival mode where you fight off waves of enemies in an arena. The developers also teased that there will be future unlockables and DLC for the game. The game will have a fair amount of jokes in the game with trophies like Chubby Chaser, which will surely be an instant classic must-have for some of you.
Millar and Leigh also revealed that there will be an advanced party system and server support for the game. Gamers will be able to jump into games in-progress friends are playing, or create a private clan vs clan type match. Users will be able to vote annoying gamers out as well. It seems like Titan Studios have implemented an incredible amount of features into Fat Princess all for the low price of $15. Make sure to check out my preview of the game here.

$15 seems reasonable, taking in account how much MultiPlayer hours you’ll get out of this game. It’s a pretty safe assumption that people will put more time into this game than games worth $60 and are only SP experiences.

I agree with Phranctoast. Infamous cost me $60 I got the Platinum Trophie a month after I bought the game. now there is no use for me to back to that game, the same goes for Bioshock. but MP games are always a great investmen, i still play Resistance Fall of Man once in a while.

I think I will be getting more play time from Fat Princess then Battlefield 1943, just by the sheer amount of support and replayability. As I mention in the article, there is a full blown story mode, Gladiator mode (Survival/Horde mode) and the massive multiplayer mode(s).
I like the fact Titan dedicated a good amount of time offering things like party/clan support, player vote-off, mute option and seamless host migration, which are annoyingly glaringly missing features even Battlefield 1943 doesn’t have and they both cost $15.

As far as the price… the Namco collection was $10. This is definitely worth more then that.
I picked up SF IV new for $20 yesterday. I had found memories of being pretty decent at that game, until my memories were pummeled by Zangief spamming pile drivers on my constantly… and the AI was on easy…

I’ve played Fat Princess and I can tell you its a blockbuster game.
It is just as good if not better than Battlefield 1943 from a quality perspective, which is another downloadable game I consider to be a blockbuster title.
Its not about if its a PS3 title or 360 title, its about how good the game is. I sure as hell don’t think all PS3 games are blockbusters and that goes for 360 games.
If you want to talk about a 360 downloadable game that I think will be a blockbuster its Shadow Complex. I will talk more about it when it nears release.

the easy way is this:
set ur MATCH SETTINGS like this:
-one round match
-30 seconds rounds
-used sagat “tiger shot” to keep them away from you untill the clock expired. Just watch out for Seth, That technique wont work against him.
-Never get too close to Seth…stay far from him with sagat but countering his sonic boom with ur tiger shot. try getting the first couple of hits against him as soon as the match starts. and then keep him away from you until the clock expired.

I do wish we had voice chat from the dash that could be used when in a game instead of having to use ‘in game voice’ – especially in game voice that sounds like you’re in a fishtank (I’m looking at you BF1943!!!)… I don’t really miss game invites, because I’m used to firing up a game on PC and then joining my friends instead of being pulled into a game with them.
Still, I’ve been in a clan for about 5 years and we have vent, email, various messengers(msn, steam etc.), and we always just use the forums/shoutbox on our website to co-ordinate whether its PC, PS3 or 360. Just seems easier tbh.

I am stuck working through the challenge trials right now. Some of the combos are so sadistically difficult that I actually through my controller the other night, something I haven’t done since my SOCOM clan ladder days, hah.
Also, I got to G2-E on the championship, and it is ridiculous that it is the same points for winning as there is for for G3, even though it is a factor of 10x the points needed to progress. Fuck that, hah.

the PS3 just have a different architecture, that makes it harder for some devs to get what they are trying to achieve. specially Devs with a strong PC background like Id’s.
Naughty Dog is not having any issues. Polyphony Digital’s GT5 is not having any issues.
while the game is not running at 60FPS on the PS3 right now, they promise it will. but the real loss is that the game was suppose to be huge (one FULL bluray disc and 3 360 DvD dics). but they have to cut it down to 2 dics on the 360 because it a “open world game” and having 3 dics for the game “WOULD SIMPLY NOT WORK”

Actually, he’s right, I missed that he said “in many respects.”
So, for example, F3s “new engine” that “surpasses” GT5 actually surpasses it in overall crappiness. That’s one respect. Other respects where F3s graphics surpass GT5s are cartooniness, fuzziness, pixelation & jaggies. F3 has way WAY more of all of those things than GT5.
So yes, in those respects, F3 easily surpasses GT5.

While I’m sure it was a rhetorical question, either the 360 has more horse power, the game developers were able to squeeze more juice from the 360, or finally (and maybe the answer you’re looking for?) TEH PS3 SUCKZORZ!..

Wow, Rage is 20fps at some points in the PS3 version? It would be like watching a slide show. I hope they fix this up before release day. Even if they made it a steady 30fps and drop the resolution it would at least make the game acceptable.

The answer I was looking for is that both consoles are much the same and whilst one instance might look like it shows one console up as lacking compared to the other another instance can be provided to show the direct opposite.

Which leaves you with answer number two then.
In the case of ghostbusters the dev’s were able to squeeze more juice out of the 360. And unless we have an actual PS3/360 dev. visiting the site then I doubt we’ll ever know the technical details

arvis – what exactly is in GT5 that surpasses Forza 3 graphics?

Arvis- good point…i should have said “all respects”…
there’s nothing in Gt5 that’s not already in Forza 3…and with Forza 3 offering more damage, better AI, and better physics…..
