Bethesda: ‘No plans’ for sequel to Oblivion (PS3/Xbox 360/PC)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was praised for bringing together the RPG with hack-n-slash genre in a massively open world environment. The game definitely made waves when it first hit the store shelves back in 2006 and 2007. However, according to Bethesda Software there may not be another iteration in the Elder Scrolls series.
According to 1UP, Bethesda game director Todd Howard spoke a little about plans for the company recently at QuakeCon. He teased that the company is working on a new game but unfortunately it will not be an Elder Scrolls game. He also indicated that there are no plans to work on one even in the near future. It could be that the developers at Bethesda Software have become sick of the Elder Scrolls series after working on it for nearly 13 years nonstop.
Howard also indicated that the company is done working on any Fallout 3 related content. Mothership Zeta is the final DLC that will be released for Fallout 3. The company is in full swing working on another game that is currently under wraps.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a futuristic science fiction game that could give Mass Effect some competition. The company has done the fantasy and post apocalyptic genres already, a future space traveling theme might be an interesting next step. Could the latest DLC for Fallout 3, Mothership Zeta be a hint as to what the next game could be?
However, my question to Bethesda Software is – where is Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion for the PSP? The game was announced a couple years ago and we have not heard anything about the game since. The company should at least reveal if the game has been scrapped or is still being worked on. The game currently has a tentative release date of November 2009 on some sites.

Bethesda must be out of there minds. They are planning on releasing the FallOut expansions for the PS3 a few months before the GOTY edition. Not buying either. I might get the GOTY edition used when it’s cheap.
I remember last E3 when they announced how the expansions were “exclusive to the 360″. Makes me wonder what “exclusives” from this E3 will be coming to PS3 soon.

Q4 09 seems to be the PSP renaissance period, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the PSP version re-appears soon enough.

…although it’s bizarre that PSP sales are still way down with all the content coming to it, as I said in the other thread.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
*hugs oblivion* We still have each other…

Barnabe
I personally believe that if Microsoft has an exclusive deal and it comes out on the PS3 after it’s had significant time on the 360, I really believe that Microsoft is allowing it so it can make even more money on the deal. Besides the whole purpose of exclusive DLC is just to get the crowd to purchase yours over the compitition. After the initial purchae period is over then why not make $ on the remaining buyers of this game who purchased it for the other console. Besides it’s so obvious that PS3 owners want the Fallout 3 DLC.

Shame, Elder Scrolls games kick arse!
August 16th, 2009
It would be great to see another Elder Scrolls to come out

CAD – Agree, but I’m also not going to pay full price for it. What are they $10 – $20 a piece or so? The GOTY edition has the game plus all of the expansions.
But again M$ got up on stage and touted it as “exclusive to the 360″. I’m guessing the same thing will probably happen with Splinter Cell.

Barnabe Jones.
If its a 3rd Party games it will eventually see its way to the PS3…
M$ announced MGS Rising as a 360 exclusive. that only lasted one day.

What MS did is the equivalent of html tags
Alan Wake!, Left 4 Dead 2!, Conviction!, Halo Reach!, Forza 3! Metal Gear Solid!

Bollocks…arghh, I should have known they’d get ripped out.
Take two…
[exclusives] Alan Wake!, Left 4 Dead 2!, Conviction!, Halo Reach!, Forza 3! [/exclusives] Metal Gear Solid!
August 16th, 2009
That’s better.
August 16th, 2009
That’s a point actually, we should be allowed to do some html tagging here.

I would be able to post gold like this easier… if you read the comments here and laugh, this will appeal to you. It’s called fanboy Fridays, it’s a running weekly series of fanboy rants from youtube. Hilarious.

Nice pics. That game has “Game of the Year”, written all over it.
August 16th, 2009
Nah. MW2 will get that, obvo.
August 17th, 2009
I’m sure you’re right. Most sites/magazines will probably give it to MW2.

Reviews are in for BatMan: Arkham Asylum!:
Game Informer: 9.5
GamesMaster UK: 96
Official PlayStation Magazine (UK): 9
Perhaps we have another GOTY contender on our hands.

@CON,

Your starting to get pretty insulting to the writers on here. Behave yourself, this is a warning.
August 17th, 2009
What’s with Batman: Arkham Asylum?
Getting comparisons to BioShock of all games. Looks like I’m gonna have to try the demo out.
August 17th, 2009
writers?
August 17th, 2009
Sick him Mike
August 17th, 2009
What the hell could CON have possibily said that I haven’t done already?
August 17th, 2009
“I’m guessing the same thing will probably happen with Splinter Cell.”
Hell I’m guessing that same thing will happen with the GTA 4 DLC
August 17th, 2009
Splinter Cell probably not because it’s a full blown game but DLC seems to be where the tide can change.
August 17th, 2009
heart the same about Bioshock
August 17th, 2009
heard**
August 17th, 2009
I’m guessing that it is getting compared to BioShock because of the atmosphere. You’re trapped in a large dark creepy place, with lots of crazies running around.
Also the Unreal engine, makes the two games look pretty similar.
August 17th, 2009
I dont trust Gameinformer
they are owned by Gamestop.
August 17th, 2009
I get the magazine (haven’t got the new one yet). They’re ok. Sometimes there reviews are good, and other times they suck. I take there reviews like a grain of salt. If they hate a game that everyone else loves, then I disregard it.
August 17th, 2009
Yeah, what did CON say that was so bad? I must have missed it.
August 17th, 2009
Always pathetic to see creepy little sneaks calling for people to be banned.
August 18th, 2009
Yep. I can’t see how CON can be given a warning when he actually contributes to some topics, whereas Ivan and his multiple personalities are left alone even though he tries his best to disrupt everything with his stupidity.
August 18th, 2009
“Always pathetic to see creepy little sneaks calling for people to be banned.”
ummmmm…where?

Exactly. He is making shite up again.
August 18th, 2009
seriously.. winky eye more or less shows you’re joking.
In fact if you want to find something thats really dick to draw your attention, how about this.
CON said.
“writers?”
August 18th, 2009
My favourite CON line for the last month was
‘IVAN how the fuck have you not been deported you immigrant FUCK’
I know Ivan felt the love and I could feel it too. Classy.
