Gran Turismo 5 – on PS3 by Christmas, damage included

Gran Turismo 5 - on PS3 by Christmas, damage includedEvery PS3 owner has been waiting for Gran Turismo 5 for what seems like ages. This is the title that is a 100 percent guaranteed big-hitting system seller, and it’s arrival cannot come soon enough for the Playstation 3. Luckily, it looks as though GT5 is finally about to be unleashed on an expectant public, and the oft-requested damage model is definitely included.

Gran Turismo is a name synonymous with Playstation. The first and second games appeared on the original console, while GT3 and GT4 appeared on the PS2. Gran Turismo 5 has been in production for the PS3 even before the PS3 was released but, as is usually the case with series designer Kazunori Yamauchi, perfection means everything with this game.

So four years after Gran Turismo 4 was released, we’re all still waiting for GT5. The release date always seems to get closer before moving further into the future again, but there were some juicy details on the game cryptically revealed recently.

A preview version of the game, the full game rather than Prologue, was shown at Gamescom last week. There was unfortunately only one track and one car to play with, but those lucky enough to play the demo generally gave it the thumbs up. The only bone of contention was the damage model on display, which sees cars only sustain minor damage no matter how harsh the vehicle is smashed into a barrier.

However, according to Gamezine, Yamauchi-san explained this disappointment in an interview with GameBlog. He stated that the code on display at Gamescom “marks only the first step of what we want to achieve for damage.” So the final product should see us all smashing our cars up in glorious and unexpected ways in order to see exactly what a BMW or Mercedes looks like embedded in a tire wall.

Even better than that it looks as though the release date has now been nailed down as being the fourth quarter of 2009, which for those who flunked math at school is between October and December of this year.

In an interview on Dailymotion, Yamauchi-san promised that Gran Turismo 5 will be out on the PS3 shortly after GT PSP arrives, and that is due out on Oct.1. While GTPlanet reports that the official brochure for the game handed out at Gamescom confirmed a release date of Q4, 2009.

Gran Turismo 5 is finally about to arrive, and not before time. If all is well and it does find its way into shops in time for the holiday season then Sony could have a very successful Christmas, especially with the PS3 Slim also on the market.

won’t the slim lose money also on every console sold?

  2. Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:

    this is good news

  3. Bourne:

Ahh i’ve been craving GT5 ever since getting into the whole series through GT4. If GT5 doesn’t sell consoles (at least in Europe) nothing will

  4. Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:

    u in europe

  5. Bourne:

    yeah the UK

  6. Knighthawk:

“won’t the slim lose money also on every console sold? this is good news”

    @Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:

Actually if I am not mistaken it is estimated that each PS3 now cost about $250 to make. Not sure if that includes shipping and what not, but I believe they are now making a profit on PS3. Sony themselves said a price cut would not come until they are making a profit on PS3. So yes this is good news for Sony and for gamers! Hope that answers your question! :)

  7. Ivan_PSP:

I would buy it later on (Gran Turismo 5) not really wasting my $60 on a car game even if is the greatest racing simulator ever made.

I just want UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, MAG, God of War III, The Agency, Agent, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MAYBE), plus MotorStorm: Artic Edge.

My most wanted wishers Resistance 3 and Killzone 3.

  8. Happyhockum:

Haven’t they got another demo to *sell* to the gullible 1st before this actually happens?

  9. Happyhockum:

    Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:
“won’t the slim lose money also on every console sold?”

    Yeah, they will.
It’s almost even comparing raw production costs to that bald sale price
(and presumably in the USA you also have some extra local taxes to load onto that number?)

But that unit production cost v price number does not take account of stuff like the additional overheads like shipping, packing and the various extras like booklets and cables included.
It may not amount to a fortune on top but it’s still pushing that number away from what they get for each one.

  10. Roca.:

Happy: “Haven’t they got another demo to *sell* to the gullible 1st before this actually happens?”

just like Halo: ODST, or L4D2.

Gran Turismo 5: Prologe was not a demo in any way…ok it has only 70 cars (comparate the the real GT it might look like a demo) but compare it to NFS: undercover, Midnight Club and I believe they are pretty similar in the amount of car category

  11. Roca.:

    **compare** edited above post

  12. phranctoast:

“Haven’t they got another demo to *sell* to the gullible 1st before this actually happens?”

Seeing stupid shit like this makes me have to ask.

What’s your feelings about Halo ODST?

  13. phranctoast:

damn you Roca. Beat me to it.

  14. Happyhockum:

    Ivan/Roca

    Er, no.

The new Halo is a complete game in its own right and so is L4D2.

Xbox has never had anything even close to that disgrace that was the GT5 demo they actuallt sold you guys.

Yes it was and yes they did.

    Epic fail.

  15. Roca.:

“Xbox has never had anything even close to that disgrace that was the GT5 demo they actuallt sold you guys.”

and it still manage to sell more than Forza 2. go figure!……I wonder why every single post from you come in the likes of a “5 paragraph easy”,
a introduction, Body (3-5 lines) and a conclusion

cant you just say it all in one (uno) paragraph?

  16. CAD:

“What’s your feelings about Halo ODST?”

It will be the top game on LIVE until the next Halo game comes out.

I believe racing is supported more by Europeans then North Americans though. But personally I will be checking out Forza but really games like GT and Forza don’t grab me like Midnight Club or Need for Speed.

  17. CAD:

Barnabee I need you to do another facepalm. I wanna copy it.

  18. CAD:

“What’s your feelings about Halo ODST?”

Oh I forgot to add it will sell more then any exclusive coming to the PS3.

  19. CAD:

Sony’s Kaz Hirai has said that the company will make a loss on every slim PlayStation 3 console it sells.

“If you’re just talking about the hardware alone, the quick answer is yes,” Hirai told The Times Online, when asked if Sony will lose money on the slim as it has on the original PlayStation 3.

“That makes good headlines, but I don’t actually know that that’s the true nature of the business that we’re all in, whether it’s PlayStation, Xbox or the Wii. I think the better indicator is to look at the business as a whole platform, to ask: are you profitable in terms of the hardware, software and peripherals. And the answer to that question is yes on a gross profit level since the last fiscal year,” he said.

  20. phranctoast:

“It will be the top game on LIVE until the next Halo game comes out.”

What does this say for the average intelligence of 360 users?

It’s just one of the more hypocritical things I’ve seen here.

ODST should be a $15 download and be included in the next iteration of “game of the year” release.

If COD4 did this you would all be up in arms.

As for L4D2. It sounds to me like the first one should be taking the shots and not the second. They released an unfinished game and are now tidying it up for the next release.

  21. lock_down:

Hypocritical 360 users? No, surely not!

  22. Roca.:

Lock_down…I believe it was you who pointed out that Sony is releasing a game “every month” until GoW3 after the Slim annoucement. but there was a “gap” in December….Think it’s GT5 taking that spot?

  23. CAD:

No it actually shows that gameplay in a Halo game goes way beyond the campaign and it shows what a great game it really is. But the truth is that COD5 and ODST will fight for the #1 spot.

  24. phranctoast:

and they wonder why we call them Xbots.

  25. Barnabe Jones:

I actually have one problem with this… a lot of people have already started to pre-order and have made there holiday buying decisions. I hope that waiting to announce the game so late, doesn’t end up hurting it. Sony should have probably announced it earlier to build up some more hype.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll get it day 1, but I’m not sure this is such a wise move on there part.

  26. Happyhockum:

    Phranctoast

Yeah, if it’s an Xbox Halo game it must be terrible and a sequel milking the idiots.

Of course Sony/Playstation can churn of sequels right, left and centre and naturally they’re all amazing fresh games pushing the boundaries and breaking new territory.

    FFS, get a grip.

  27. Roca.:

“Of course Sony/Playstation can churn of sequels right, left and centre and naturally they’re all amazing fresh games pushing the boundaries and breaking new territory.”

    I couldn’t agree more!

  28. phranctoast:

calm down Happy. Any person that uses logic could see it for what it is. I’m actually surprised any one that knows could truly support it.

    -It’s a 3-5 hour campaign. (kind of short for a $60 game)

-All the Halo 3 maps (11) and the add on maps (14) are included on it. (so if you bought Halo 3 and the map packs you already have this)

-3 New Maps (which will probably be DLC for Halo 3 anyway)

If GT5P needs be in the conversation, I could say, at least they’re new tracks and it didn’t cost $60.

  29. Happyhockum:

    Ivan/Roca

    Wow, you do surprise me.

    phranctoast

Despite your hopes I am perfectly calm.
    Thanks for your concern.

    $60 game?
Where do you buy your games?
£29.95 on Amazon at launch ($49.06 US/$58.50 AUS) and pre-order prices.
It’ll be a 1/3rd off of that within a fortnight once it’s out.

So, there’ll have been no PS3 games (always priced at the very top end of the price range) that were 3 – 5hrs then?

    Sure there never have been.

    Halo 3 map-packs?
    So what?
    I bought 1 that I wanted a while back.
The rest is bonus for me (if I get his one).

    GT5P?
You’re right it didn’t cost $60 just not far off of it ($50 US wasn’t it?).

  30. phranctoast:

    Halo ODST for $60
    ttp://www.amazon.com/Halo-3-ODST-Xbox-360/dp/B001HWB68K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1251214034&sr=8-1

“So, there’ll have been no PS3 games (always priced at the very top end of the price range) that were 3 – 5hrs then?”

Well.. Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty. It was priced well though.

I mention the map packs because the people who will buy this game are the real die hard everything Halo freaks that more than likely already own the map packs.

    GT5P.
    released at $40.
    probably too expensive.

  31. Happyhockum:

    Halo OSDT for £29.95/$49 US/ $58 AUS

    h**p://www.amazon.co.uk/Halo-3-ODST-Xbox-360/dp/B001KBYU0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1251214603&sr=8-1

    GT5P
    $40 – $50, like it’s a vast difference.

  32. Roca.:

Halo with STD is $60 here in the US.

  33. phranctoast:

    Halo ODST
    $50 -$60. like it’s a vast difference.

lol… sorry, you did make that really really easy.

  34. Happyhockum:

Just like you made it too easy for me.
    I knew someone couldn’t resist.

    GT5P price history, started at $50 –

    h*p://www.nextag.co.uk/Gran-Turismo-5-537153608/uk/prices-html

  35. Happyhockum:

    In fact that in £’s

    £50 = $81.85 US/$97.61 AUS.

    My God what a rip-off.

  36. phranctoast:

Was the exchange rate like that when it released?

  37. Roca.:

    “£50 = $81.85 US/$97.61 AUS.”

and it still sold more than Forza 2

  38. Rimmer:

Sony are most certainly still loosing money on each console. Even if they managed to bring production costs down to $250, you still have to add import duties, shipping costs and most importantly a profit margin for the retailer. But at least the losses are nowhere near as bad as they were in the beginning.

  39. Happyhockum:

The exchange rate has moved quite a bit in the last couple of years, that’s true.

Since 2007 (GT5P release) the £ has moved between being worth over $2 peaking at $2.10 in Nov 2007 (making this game then well over $100 US) to decling since then to todays $1.63.

(I always use the rate current at the time of my posting)

But thanks for pointing that out phranctoast, you just helped show what a stunning rip-off that demo was for buyers in the UK.

  40. phranctoast:

yet it magically cost $40 in the US when it was released..

    SO this is your stance?

ODST is not ripping off the fanbase?
Three new maps and one new gametype, all for the price of a new game.
In this price structure, Shivering Isles should have cost $150.

  41. lock_down:

I like how someone who hasn’t played GT5P is in a position to judge and refer to it as a demo.

70 cars, 12 layouts, 60 events, Gran Turismo TV, Arcade Event, Drifting Event, Online Mode.

    Yeah, what a demo.

This game will end up creating ps3 shortages near Chirstmas time.

  43. Roca.:

“most importantly a profit margin for the retailer. But at least the losses are nowhere near as bad as they were in the beginning.”

You know retailers only makes a couple of bucks on “new” hardware & “new” software….most of their profit comes from pheripheral, add-ons and used games and system. just a FYI

  44. Happyhockum:

Like it or not guys I showed you what that game cost in the UK.

I didn’t make it up and yet not one of you can give the honest response
(which surely has to be “F*ck me, what an outrageous rip-off).

You guys love to rip on Halo and yet every time a new one comes out, despite the vast numbers of Xbox games and highly scored Xbox games (which the Halo games usualy are btw) they sell by the truck-load.
In numbers greater than any PS3 game has managed to date if I’m not mistaken.

    Sour grapes much?

  45. Happyhockum:

    Hey Dave/Mike…..seen this? -

“Sony Computer Entertainment is asking consumers to fork out $315 for a PS3 Blu ray problem much to the angst of Australian users of the $699 gaming console.
Writing in response to a News Ltd story on the new slim PS3, Trish of Melbourne said that when she recently reported a Blu ray problem to SCE Australia she was told that it would cost $315 to fix her PS3 console that was less than 2 years old.

She wrote “When the Xbox 360 developed a common fault outside the warranty period, Microsoft fixed it for free. Having to spend $315 to fix a PS3 console after not even 2 years is equivalent to spending about $10,000 on repairs on an average car – totally ridiculous”.

A subsequent search of gaming web sites has revealed that the PS3 Blu ray problem appears to be widespread.”

    h**p://www.smarthouse.com.au/Gaming/Console/F9T7R3U6

    Oh my.

    Imagine how I laughed.

This one is going to grow and grow, mark my words.

  46. Roca.:

    Happy,

That’s old, I heard that a long time ago. and the PS3 in Australia are now $400 not $700 as you mentioned…

  47. Roca.:

is funny how time u spend reading/looking at/researching about Sony stuff. Yesterday you found something about the Bravia TV (which was off topic), the other day you posted something and HD bitstream for PS3, you always looking up bluray numbers and bluray stuff. You memorized every single word Stringer (Sony CEO) has said for the past 2 months. you even know the GT5P launch price. you know all about PS3 warranty and so on…..where all this Sony Love came from?

  48. phranctoast:

    @Happy.
You have family writing into papers now?

    As for ODST….
You’re right. You guys are the ones taking it in the ass and asking for more. It really shouldn’t bother me at all.
Enjoy your extra game mode and three more maps. lol.

  49. JofaMang:

He’s a troll, what more can you expect?

  50. phranctoast:

You do realize that it’s all variable….. correct?

At the exchange rate at that time, normal games would have seemed like $120 US even though they were still $60 in the US.

I feel your really stretching to make a point by even needing to show US to Euro Exchange rates.

Al in all, It does not negate the fact that ODST has you buying what most Halo fans have already bought.

  51. phranctoast:

    hey Dave.

Is it real fourth quarter of fiscal fourth quarter?

  52. Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:

i think the wii is the only system to make profit on every console sold, so with a 360/ps3 price cut it will put pressure on the wii to lower its cost…cause we know the wii isnt doin good in software except wii fit, sports, and mario kart

  53. Happyhockum:

    Ivan/Roca

I didn’t post any of that, it was a quote from another site.

So what’s your problem with my mentioning when things aren’t going too well for Sony?
You never hesitate to mention when you think something they do is amazing.

    phranctoast

    Hardly.
I, like many others I’m sure, did not buy all the Halo maps etc so if I do buy this game (when it is discounted) I’ll be actually better off buying it.
Those who did buy everything and don’t think this 1 is worth it will either not bother or will get it when it is discounted heavily.
Either way nobody is ‘forced’ to do a thing.
But thanks for your concern, I’m really really sure it’s incredibly genuine & ever so heart-felt.

I mentioned the currency rate because you asked – and that 1 back-fired, didn’t it?

You expected the exchange rate to make that £50 price look better and instead it went the other way.
    Total rip-off.
Then you start gurning that I ‘even’ bring exchange rates into this.

    JofaMang
    Wrong
Just pointing out the hypocrisy of you guys.
You won’t say a word about the obvious PS3/Sony resident village idiot trolling day-in day out but anyone who moves to counter that BS gets attacked all over the shop.
Rather pathetic stuff if you don’t mind my saying.

  54. Happyhockum:

JofaMang is just another Ivan/Roca log-in.

He busted himself replying to a comment I made to Ivan/Roca as JofaMang.

  55. Happyhockum:

For the few genuine individuals that might be interested & who are not another of the ill nutter’s log-ins it happened here –

    h**p://gamer.blorge.com/2009/08/22/consumers-buying-ps3-slim-over-ps3-fat/

  56. CAD:

Are you serious. Roca/Ivan/JofaMang you are pathetic if this is true.

  57. Arvis:

It’s kind of odd seeing HappyHockum get so uncomfortable. His posts aren’t just bordering on desperate, they’re diving headlong into it.

You feeling ok, Happy? You don’t seem to be living up to your name these days.

    -Arvis

  58. phranctoast:

I made my point. When the only thing going for you is exchange rates, at a time according to your logic, ALL 360 games and PS3 games were “$120″, then you don’t have very much at all. It cost $40 in the US. Is that worth it to the fans….apparently.
and btw. I never used the word “forced”

“He busted himself replying to a comment I made to Ivan/Roca as JofaMang.”

OMG….. I’ve answered questions directed at Roca.

I must be an alter ego.

You guys are retarded. You know damn well that they are all different people.

One could just lump CAD, CON, kev and Happy together too.

  59. CON:

    Happyhockum:
    “Ivan/Roca

Of course it does – to you.

You’re not interested in the facts, you’re just cheering ‘your side’ on.”

    Jafamang:
“I wasn’t cheering any side on, I was correcting your ignorance”

  60. lock_down:

Oh God, don’t lump them together…they might start multiplying :P

  61. CON:

Oh my god!!!!! How many ppl are actually on this site????

Is it just IVAN slash whatever???

    What a loser you are!

  62. CON:

    @phranctoast:

“OMG….. I’ve answered questions directed at Roca.”

I’m sure that’s true but it’s pretty clear from that comment above that he was speaking as Ivan/Roca.

He busted himself before with that fallen angel one

  63. Ghost:

Well you would be pretty close phranc: just add the name “navyste” and that would sum HH split personality’s up? We all know that the UK get’s screwed money wise these day’s. There prices are higher and stuff just cost more. I he wants to hand out that much cash for the “Halo STD” then go ahead but it is a rip off just like “MW2″ is going to be. But at least you are getting a full game on that one.

  64. phranctoast:

Lets get Mike or Dave in on this one.

Maybe once we know for sure we can stop seeing Ivan/Roca references posts. He has an IP.

  65. Roca.:

    @ CON

it also was clear the phranctoast was talking to Happy and some how you came out the cut replay to his post (again directed to Happy)

A week ago Mike Deleted a post from you then HAppy and CAD also came out to join you in ur “strike” against Mike, When mike invited all you to discuss this issue at the Blorge.net forum none of you went in because you would have to create accounts for CAD, HAPPY, Kev and your self at Blorge.net

  66. CON:

    @CAD

Don’t know about you but I’m not gonna be posting in Mike’s articles anymore. Next time he want to start a flame war he can the let the ps3 guys fight it out amongst themselves……I’m out.

Mike claimed he was not biased and when I posted his sliced quotes from previous articles against “actual” quotes from developers he had no answer except to delete the comment.

    Fucking coward!!!

  67. Ghost:

Yeah he can tell who from who if he wanted to? Or at least IP addresses.

  68. Ghost:

That’s a Hell of a acusation calling Mike a coward, especially if you don’t know him.

  69. phranctoast:

and he wonders why his posts get deleted.

  70. Ghost:

For one thing you guys were talking shit about him and his work. I would have deleted your comments too. And if I were him I would block your ass for calling him a coward, that shit just isn’t cool.

  71. CON:

    Ivan/Roca/Jofa

Bit of a pathetic attempt to draw the attention away there? I was addressing a general quote in one phrancs comments….hell of a dif lol.

We didn’t enter mikes forum because he wanted to brush us under the carpet. Mike is constantly entering his own blogs commenting on unrelated topics so why not answer of fucking questions???

  72. CON:

They were legitimate questions ghost but instead he choose to delete every single post of the few xbox fans there are on this site.

If this had have happened to several of the ps3 guys here simply questioning the accuracy of his articles when some were clearly inaccurate and all got they’re questions deleted I would have stood by you.

I don’t see why this had to turn into a us vs them issue between everyone. I would gladly have stood along side a ps3 user if this had have been the case.

The fact is nobody even knew what the argument was about because the comments they were being deleted that quickly. Most of the ps3 guys assumed it was about the actual article about the ps3 when it simply wasn’t

  73. Ivan_PSP:

    Ghost:
I agree too, too many Xbots here bash Mike and Dave because they don’t like agreeing with their facts.

    CON is a trip.

They should ban all this ignorant people here without respect for journalist.

And i decided i’m gonna buy 2 copies of GT5 after seen some new videos i couldn’t resist.

  74. Roca.:

CON or CAD werent even talking today, but as soon as Happy said that I was another person, all of you came at the same time out of nowhere. Talk about Coincidence !! =/

you guys remind me of the Apple vs PC comercial. where the PC guys always find something to change the subject and supposeldy get the customer attention

  75. CON:

“CON or CAD werent even talking today”

Yeah it’s called going to work. From what I gather you’re some spoilt 15 yr old who posts all day when not masterbating? So work might not apply

  76. Ivan_PSP:

Gran Turismo 5 will feature over 1000 cars and an unconfirmed number of at least 80 tracks. One such course will be the Top Gear Test Track from Dunsfold Park in UK, popularized by the British automotive show Top Gear. Cosmetic and mechanical damage will be a first in the series, but it has been confirmed that not all cars will implement these new features, only a select set. According to series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, these features are yet to be finalized. Also, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Bugatti will make their first appearance in the game.

Bugatti wow this the fastest and the most expensive car in the world.

Lamborghini this is my favorite car the REVENTON to exact.

Ferrari Enzo another awesome car can’t wait to win some races online with these cars.

Forza MotorSport 3 can’t compete not even with the PSP game GT PSP.

  77. Ghost:

I don’t know I think I got to read one post before it got deleted I think it was from CAD and it was pretty bad man. I didn’t get to see any others before they got deleted so I don’t know? I thought he deleted them because you guys was just bashing him? But he did make a section for everybody on blorge-net. I am not sticking up for Mike because of PS3vsX-box but because what comment I got to read was slamming him pretty bad thats all.

  78. Roca.:

““CON or CAD werent even talking today”

Yeah it’s called going to work. From what I gather you’re some spoilt 15 yr old who posts all day when not masterbating? So work might not apply”

FYI I only visit this site from work because this is the only gaming website that I have access from work……buy you wouldnt know what is like to work in a corporate office with a computer in front of you! and buy ur comment above i can tell tha where you work at is a shoes store with no internet access what so ever to keep you entertain

  79. Ghost:

You would think with all the time they are taking on GT5 they would have done all of this mech/damage already and have all the cars respond like that. It just makes the game cooler when you have to work on and fix your car. I think they should have listen to there fans a little earlier on because this seems to me like a rush add on at the last minute??? IMO

  80. Ivan_PSP:

Is funny how every where you go and see any bad Xbox 360 comments. Xbox users start a war against the journalist for no reason. That’s why every where i go i see journalist post comments about the users base manners they always say PS3 owners are way more mature then Xbox 360 owners. Which has been proven to be legit. I would never disrespect anyone here especially not the journalist they own all consoles so they don’t need a favor one.

  81. Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:

anybody else getting this(80023017 error) if they try to activate the ps store??

  82. CAD:

    CON

If you have not noticied I have been doing the same. I completley ignore Mike now.

  83. CAD:

Are IP address per computer? Because if that is the case, at work I can be as many people as I want to be but I’m not a moron and I don’t need an alter ego so I can talk to myself.

Hey ROCA, I’m still waiting for the StateStreet reply. LOL Feel free to answer as Ivan, ROCA, or JofaMang.

    Happy & CON
You guys have to show me this proof so I can be certain. I never really pay attention to all of them to figure it out.

On a side note I do know of 1 360 Owner who does or did have a alter ego until they changed to a login in access But I will never tell. LOL

  84. Happyhockum:

You are correct about IP addys CAD.
Each PC on a network will have it’s own IP addy within the range used by that network.
Dynamic addys also muddy the waters somewhat but they will always be within a range allocated to the ISP in question.
Static addys would make it easier but even they can be gotten around.

Nutters using proxies etc makes that unworkable as a method of tracing.

What it comes down to is we have 1 or 2 mentally unhinged laughably sad b@stards ruining this site with their multiple accounts.

You probably won’t be able to prove a thing but when you get a specific answer to comments solely directed at another ‘name’ as if that ‘name’ was answering (the classic ‘forgot to log out’ case) it’s pretty easy to spot.

The proof is in the style of talk, or ironically even in the attempt not to talk a certain way.
It’s also a bit obvious with the way certain ‘names’ can be guaranteed to come rushing in to back up certain comments.

Note too how when one ‘name’ posts for an extended period the other(s) rarely appear except to occasionally back up or distract and/or keep a topic going.

    It’s the ‘work’ of a total nut-job.
    Pitiable stuff really.

I suspect like most, I use different names on different web-sites – but I never use anything other than the 1 name in each board.

    WTF for?
What sort of unstable sad f*ck-up does that?

  85. JofaMang:

I use JofaMang on every site I go to.

I won’t dignify this accusation with any further responses. You guys have hit a new level of Lame.

  86. Ivan_PSP:

    CAD:
That’s good for you i guess. Plus a IP Address can be change for $15 dollars by calling your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

Also CAD i wanna to tell you I’m not Roca or anyone here like some people claim. Not like i care just wanted to let you know.

I’m currently playing Halo 3 not bad but I’m stuck LoL, also Forza Motorsport 2 awesome game but hard to play and Saints Row which is pretty awesome game hate the graphic a little bit. I’m playing offline since i don’t have a WiFi adapter buying one soon from eBay. Wow my Xbox 360 won’t play NBA Street 2 WTF not compatible weird.

And PS3 buds I’ll be on later on tonight after i finish this fucking level.

  87. JofaMang:

Now I am pissed off. If you can’t debate me you slander me across multiple threads? You are not going to chase me off by accusing me of bullshit like this. You are the fucking mental case if you honestly believe that i have gone through such crazy lengths to achieve what… status on a message board?

I have been using JofaMang as my login on many sites for many years. I am not so insecure and mentally damaged as to make multiple accounts for whatever reason you dreamed up. You can go fuck yourself and your deranged circle jerk Xbot crew.

I come here to share and debate. Gaming has been my favourite hobby since I was 4 years old, this is one of the forums I have most enjoyed being a part of. I will not let your extra chromosomes get in the way of my completely legitimate participation in this community.

Man up leave the slander behind you.

  88. CON:

    Sure thing Ivan

  89. CAD:

in all due respect I think Jofamange has been here for a while.

  90. JofaMang:

Good thing only the most ignorant of Xbots actually acknowledge your posts, CON, as no one else gives a shit what you say.

  91. JofaMang:

Thank you CAD, you just took a few demerits off my opinion of you. Is that close enough to a non-insult to show gratitude? :D

  92. Ivan_PSP:

    LoL :-)

  93. CON:

Ivan has also been here a while too……a very long while lol. The suspicion is always going to be there now jofa. You answered a direct question to Ivan. Don’t think anyone here disputes that Ivan has more than one log in.

Except of course the other ppl he logs in as…..

  94. JofaMang:

I am willing to prove it, if there was a way (a trustworthy 3rd party perhaps?) but I don’t think I should have to. If can objectively read the whole thread, and account for me skimming through and missing a single line of text, you should be able to understand how I thought it was aimed at me. Jesus christ, this is silly, and insulting.

  95. Ivan_PSP:

    jofaMang:
LMFAO You still trying to talk to this idiot wow don’t bother with this moron he obviously wants attention only.

  96. Dave Parrack:

In terms of IP addresses, no one on this thread is running multiple accounts. Each person has their own and it’s stayed the same throughout the thread.

  97. SW:

My question would be, if he were answering a question as Ivan, then why was the post NOTHING like a typical post from Ivan.

I for one think Jofa is Jofa.

  98. Barnabe Jones:

BatMan is f-ing awesome!!! l played for over 4 hours and I am only 8% complete. There is tons and tons of content. Anyone who is worried about the fighting… you can unlock more moves, combos, and gadgets as you go.

    PS3 exclusive content includes:

*Joker Challenge rooms (consisting of multiple maps)

    *F-ing BatCave in PS Home!

*”blue-ray quality” Behind the scenes video and trailer (accessed through the video icon on XMB)

BatMan Arkham Asylum is to BatMan games, as Batman Begins and the Dark Night were to the movies. BatMan would be proud.

  99. Ivan_PSP:

Thanks Dave for clarifying that for all of us. I guess now happyhockum and some others will stop bringing this up again.

    SW:
    You are correct.

  100. Barnabe Jones:

I haven’t read the Amazon exclusive comic that game with the game yet, but the artwork is fantastic. I think the story serves as a prequel to the game.

  101. JofaMang:

    Thanks Dave.

    @Barnabe
F*cking batcave? why didnt you tell me that earlier. Damn, it just moved up the got-to list a good distance, lol.

  102. Barnabe Jones:

I’ve said this before but.. I’ve seen both Roca and Ivan on PSN at the same time.

Also anyone with half a brain could tell that they have different styles of writing…. or maybe it’s obvious to me because I’m the world’s great detective ;)

  103. Barnabe Jones:

Jofa – I haven’t logged into Home yet to check it out. Actually I still need to download the Joker maps too.

There is tons of content like character bios, hidden interview tapes, The Riddler’s challenges, hidden trophies, plus the challenge rooms. I’m not sure how long the game is supposed to be, but I’ll bet it’s going to be pretty long.

  104. Happyhockum:

    Relax JofaMang.

  105. JofaMang:

    Apology accepted, fuckhead.

  106. JofaMang:

    Fuck you too.

  107. Roca.:

The “multiple account” subject is stupid and I will never argue about a stupid thing like….I just here to kill some time I don’t need to prove anything to nobody specially to retarded ppl like these xbots who cant see the difference between 3 ppl….(but then they think they know all about the 3 console)

harry sachz said if the PS3 ever comes down to $300 he would buy one lets hope is true.

Oh and Gran Turismo 5/PSP is gonna be the best racing game this and next year.

  111. Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:

  112. Ivan_PSP:

I just checked that FFXIII is coming out this year in Japan and next year here well duh. I might just get the Japanese version early from a friend and go tease people about how awesome the game is i won’t understand what they say but that might not matter much i hope.

Gran Turismo 5 rumors worth checking out if you planning on buy a new PS3 this year.

you must have some mental issues, I just asked that question because I didnt if you directing it to some explicit members,

Your first reaction was to troll.
    Duly noted.

    Ghost

You went too far. Simple as old son.

    Quit soft-soaping yourself.
You weren’t ‘mean’ at all, you threatened me with a physical assault.
    Fool.

    I don’t need any back-up, thanks.

I was merely making sure the stink of what you said was put under everyone’s nose so when you get what you deserve everyone will know why.

It’s also been extremely useful to see just how hypocritical some here are.
They’ll say nothing when Ivan actually comes out and calls for someone to be banned and yet wriggle and quibble away so as not to see a fellow PS3 gang member booted.

  124. Happyhockum:

*when Ivan comeout and calls for someone to be banned doe merely taking the pi$$ or (as he sees it) dissing his beloeved game console.

Nobody until now ever threatened anyone.

  125. Happyhockum:

Dammit, Ivan/Roca’s spelling curse is catching. :)

  126. Roca.:

Let Kev handle his own issues

  127. SW:

So, are we going to get back to talking about the games soon? ;)

  128. Happyhockum:

    Ivan/Roca

WTF has Kev got to do with any of this?

    SW

Interesting how everything dried up today, eh?

  129. phranctoast:

    We need a better story.

Halo ODST and the bilking of Halo’s hardcore audience by releasing DLC as a full game.

  130. Arvis:

    “Bilking?”

U MUST BE IVAN/ROCA/JOFA/GHOST/DAVE PARRACK!! OMGWTHROFLMAOBBQ!

    -Arvis

  131. Barnabe Jones:

Does anyone remember the time when someone posted something similar to CAD once? I don’t remember the name because they only posted once or twice.

They posted something like: “I’m going to find you and bash your face in”… does anyone remember that? lmfao

  132. phranctoast:

    @Arvis.
    BBQ brought a tear.

It would be quite humorous if Happy turned out to be Ivan.

I’d be the first to say, I was caught off guard.

  133. CAD:

    Barnabe don’t even start!!

  134. JofaMang:

“Interesting how everything dried up today, eh?”

No one wanted to step in the bullshit you dropped on every thread.

  135. CON:

    @jofa

As far as the IP stuff is concerned I know that Ivan is sad enough to foresee this as it’s been brought up before.

However I’m pretty sure that you are not one of Ivan’s creations. I do remem that you were one of the first ppl to slate Ivan a while back with that fallen angel login.

    So my apologies

  136. JofaMang:

Thanks CON, coming from you, that actually means a lot. Seriously, before now I thought you were incapable of coherent non-xbottery. Accept my apologies as well!~

  137. SW:

    ‘OMGWTHROFLMAOBBQ!’

That ‘h’ better have been ‘heck’….

    *shifty eyes*

  138. kev:

I think this is great. Damage in a racing sim game? Welcome to 2003!!! Or was it 2004 that Forza launched? Oh well…

I guess “minor damage” is a start, but they’ll have to bring a much more to the table to re-take the simulator crown from Forza Motorsports. Does Kaz have what it takes to make this happen? Time will tell, but it’s looking doubtful as this is his first attempt at damage and with less than 4 months until launch there is no video or pics of the uber-realistic damage being boasting about. “minor damage” was the best they had…

Damage aside, Kaz really needs to do something about the brain dead artificial intelligence in all of his GT games. Hopefully he can get more natural-thinking and reactive AI into GT5.

I realize that with the bumper-car physics of GT games, he doesn’t really need to as it’s far more forgiving than Forza’s level of realistic physics. Still, it would be nice if he gave at least a few IQ points to the AI drivers this time around.

Bumping through corners to win races gets old very fast, although a tried and true formula for Gran Turismo games. Thankfully the physics in Gran Turismo games are only “realistic” in writing.

I can see sony bundling this with the ps3 for the holidays. Hopefully they’ll do it while leaving the ps3’s $299 price point, although I doubt they will.

I’m sure this will sell a couple of ps3 to the old-schoolers who still think GT is “the real driving simulator”, but unfortunately it’s looking to be an uphill battle against MS’ one-two punch of Forza 3 and HALO:ODST releasing around the same time.

I won’t even address the fact the new COD is launching in which many, many gamers (ps3 and 360 alike) are waiting to drop the money for it, leaving less money for other games. If COD on PSN is anywhere near as popular as on the 360 and xbox live, GT5 is in for a lonely time this holiday.

Hopefully, Kaz will implement a Collisions-Off mode when racing online. Bumpercar racing is forgiveable when you’re alone, but it will be mayhem with a bunch of kids careening off each other on PSN.

Then again, with only a very few gamers having voice communicators on PSN, you can’t really hear anyone complain.

I’m just concerned that it took him 4 years to make one game. What takes 4 years to create? It must be a wonderful, never-before-seen experience.

It’s just a shame this is the only well known franchise exclusive Sony has to lead off with for the holidays. Going against the powerhouse known as Halo is going to be very painful. The GT franchise was popular in its day, but the Halo franchise, alone, has set sale records that no game, GT or otherwise, has come close to matching.

If given a choice between a shooter and a console sim, the masses have spoken; Shooters FTW!!!

Well, good luck with GT5. Hopefully Kaz can keep his word this generation and actually keep a launch date. *fingers crossed*

  139. Arvis:

If someone bothers to type “WTH,” one would imagine they probably mean “heck.” ;)

    -Arvis

  140. JofaMang:

    @Kev
“re-take the simulator crown from Forza Motorsports”

At this point I stopped reading your essay due to the obviously inherent flaws in your argument. Nice effort though.

  141. SW:

Jofa, who are you replying too? I see no Kev post here… ;)

  142. JofaMang:

Sorry, a fly buzzed by my hand, I accidentally wrote and submitted that post when I swatted it on the keyboard. My Bad.

  143. lock_down:

“At this point I stopped reading your essay due to the obviously inherent flaws in your argument.”

    hehehe :D

  144. Barnabe Jones:

CAD – serously who was that?

  145. phranctoast:

when he writes a lot it simply gives him more opportunities to be wrong.

I’d keep my sentences relatively short if I were you.

  146. kev:

Jofa – tell it to the millions of gamers and gaming sites who give the “physics crown to Forza” over GT games. Gamespot, EGM, 1up.com, etc, etc, etc. As we all know, physics are paramount in a simulator. Closing your eyes on a train track won’t prevent the train from running over you. Ignoring the truth about GT5 won’t help it either.

Phranc – it’s funny you never quite say WHAT is wrong with my posts. Maybe it’s because there is nothing wrong and you don’t have the courage to admit it. Hey, GT was good for its day, mainly because it was the ONLY console sim on the market which is why it became so popular. Unfortunately, it failed to evolve in the last decade. They simply added more cars (needless repeats of the same car) and shinier graphics. Oooo….the innovation.

I can’t help wonder why the hype tho. According to ps3 fanboys “sequels” are overrated and not wanted by the masses. Or is this logic only applicable to 360 games? Hee, hee…

Since quantity matters to the GT5 zealots, it’s got to hurt that GT5 only has 80 tracks while Forza 3 is to have over 100. ouch.

“Enjoy your extra game mode and three more maps”, said Phranc…. Nice one… and you complain about other’s cred.

I thought ODST was reported to have a full single player campaign mode and over a dozen mp maps. How that is considered a “bilking” is beyond hilarious, but not surprising coming from you ps3 fanboys. And really, after paying for a $600 video game toy, you have zero room to whine about “bilking”. Noone has been bilked harder than the ps3 fans.

If you’re this far off the mark about something as popular as Halo ODST, I can begin to understand how you’ve become so far off the mark about GT5 and Forza 3. My advice; stop hitting the submit button until you’ve done some research into the games you’re hyping.

  147. phranctoast:

You make it so simple when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

ODST is reported to have a very short sp camapign (3-5 hours) and over 24 maps. Three of those maps are NEW!

So is it worth it to a person who’s jumping into Halo for the first time? absolutely.

Is it worth it to a Halo fan. Hell No.

    Lets create this scenario.
    You buy everything Halo related.

This game comes out and the only difference between this and Halo3 is a different gametype and three new maps. Wow.
Why isn’t it a DLC? The two GTA4 DLC didn’t try to sell itslelf as a brand new game.

As for Forza and GT. I’m sure GT will sell buttloads but I never liked driving simulators.

  148. phranctoast:

and for the record. If Halo ODST had say 15 new maps, you would not be hearing a peep from me.

  149. Happyhockum:

    phranctoast

If your problem with ODST is that it’s not worth it to the real Halo devotees then surely those self-same Halo devotees will be well aware of this by now?

In fact the real hardcore fans will possibly be so much more aware of all the new games qualities (or otherwise) than maybe even you?

If short-changing the true fan is what you are really concerned about (I bet they’re so relieved to have you battling away on their behalf!) then I’d relax, they wil be able to work out whether it’s a good buy or not.

For someone like me with barely a toe in the Halo waters it sounds like excellent value.

    Maybe you’re confusing matters?
Perhaps the people you are reallt abothered about are the loopy collectors?
Those who never grew out of those Pokemon ‘got to collect em all’ ideas?

  150. JofaMang:

As a formerly avid autocross racer (scares the wife too much, sold the stripped integra and trailer when we got married) and having played Forza 1 & 2, I can say from a perspective of reality versus gaming, that neither Forza nor GT captures the REAL essence of racing: G-forces, Heat, burning rubber, ticking aluminum blocks as they cool from a hard run, suspension adjustments, tire pressure testing, facepalm after ripping a sideskirt off from sliding sideways over 8 pylons… I could go on for quite some time.

There are better PC MMO type racers than what GT or Forza can possibly offer, but those are almost as expensive as running in an autocross circuit. Well, not really, but compared to the cost of a console game, they are many many times more expensive.

But for pure driving physics, I feel far more in tune with what is going in the game when I am playing a GT game, than any of the times I was playing forza 2. Forget graphics, forget damage modelling, forget all that other fluff that is there to visually accentuate the driving physics: in essential DRIVING realism of contact scrub, oversteer/understeer, surface change effects (like inertial refraction or texture feedback) drafting, weight transfer etc etc GT has thus far been far more realistic than Forza.

But I will concede, if I had never raised an inside tire fighting to stay on the apex of a reducing radius sweeper, I would probably say that Forza would be more fun, as it is more gamer, not racer, friendly.

And that, does not a simulator make.

  151. phranctoast:

One thing I’d like to know is, will the second disc (the one with all the Halo 3 content), be ODST mp rules or is it back to playing as MC for those levels?

  152. CON:

Id put my money on mc

  153. kev:

Jofa – “But for pure driving physics, I feel far more in tune with what is going in the game when I am playing a GT game, than any of the times I was playing forza 2”

I, too, have a bit of high speed driving experience. I can’t say I disagree strongly enough.
So what force, exactly, is it that GT games use that propels a car BACKWARDS after striking an object or other car? I can’t think of one force of nature that reproduces this affect in reality. I won’t even address the lack of accurate uplift in GT games. “glued to the track” is what most have said about GT games and it’s really true.

The fact GT5 can’t even reproduce actual flips or vaults, while Forza 3 can, really underscores how weak and unrealistic the GT5 physics engine is compared to Forza’s.

No one in their right mind says GT has better driving physics than Forza games, anymore, and with good reason. Forza games use physics calculations implemented from actual automotive engineers and real automotive data, while GT games do not. You can feel it in every nuance of every car in Forza games. It’s just way more exacting than any GT game.

I’m still waiting for someone to explain how the 300 physics parameters created by a game maker in GT games somehow reproduces more accurate physics than a Forza game using over 9,000 physics parameters, created from automotive engineers. Since there is no logical explanation, I guess I’ll keep waiting.

It really sticks out when you consider Forza has a separate physics and wear engine just for their tires. This was created by the engineers at Toyo Tires. Very smart guys. GT5 doesn’t have this level of realism. Then again, with GT5 being so far behind the competition in high end cars, number of tracks, damage, tunings, customizations, painting, engine swaps, and online, I can see how they fell behind on their tire physics as well. Most people don’t know or understand the tactile importance of tires. Maybe it escaped Kaz, too…..

But look on the bright side; if you’re ever losing in a GT game, simply bump off the cars in the corners and pass. It’s the easiest way to win in GT games. It actually propels you. If Forza had this, it might be a little easier to win. But alas. How you can claim this is realism is beyond me.

If you truly think GT games provide more realism, it’s not GT5 I doubt. It’s your own driving experience that I doubt.

So far, I’ve showed you why Forza has better physics, how it has better physics, and the math to prove it. I won’t even address my own experience. The GT fans respond with, “in my opinion”…. Doesn’t that seem a little sad? It does to me when I consider how great the GT franchise used to be and what it could’ve become if they had innovated instead of just milking the Gran Turismo name and their fans.

  154. SW:

Awww fuck, here we go again.

You’re not my friend anymore Jofa!!! ;)

  155. Roca.:

this dude must be retarded! cut the crap with your long worthless Forza post

first of all, you GT5 is in a CLASS of its own. you can compare Forza to Need for Speed: shift or whatever. but To compare something to GT5 you have to bring up a combination of gamess. I would say:

    Gran Turismo 5 vs [ Forza 3, Dirt 2, Nascar 08-09]

**note: EA is NOT publishing the NASCAR IP anymore, (it must be for a reason right!!)**

  156. Ivan_PSP:

We all know GT5 is the racing game to own. So ignored kev and his fantasy.

  157. lock_down:

I’m certain that kev and Dan The Dipstick are related :)

  158. Ivan_PSP:

    lock_down:
    Who’s dan?

  159. phranctoast:

I’m sorry……but does kev have some long list of features thats not included in GT5?

    or

Is he simply still basing his expectations from GT4?

  160. kev:

Wow….. “class of its own”… that’s the best response you could come up with? More marketing platitudes? Yep, GT5 is looking very weak indeed.

Even weaker when you consider kaz has turned his back on simulators to fluff up his games including Rally and Formula 1 modes. I knew Forza would crush the GT series but actually thought Kaz would at least try to add features to keep up with Forza instead of adding silly game modes that detract from the simulation-experience.

Phranc – GT4 and GT5:Prologue…. I just find it hilarious that Kaz and his fanboys went from “GT5 will have the most realistic damage ever”….to “GT5 will have some damage to cars”… to “GT5 will have only some damage to some cars”… to “GT5 won’t have damage in the vast majority of cars”…to, “GT5 only has minor damage in very few of their cars”.

I guess we can chalk this up to one more lying sony developer. I don’t think Kaz has delivered on any promise since GT2.

  161. phranctoast:

    Ok….

so you are admittedly talking out your ass.

I suspected but I just had to make sure.

  162. kev:

phranc – wow… i thought i didn’t type too in-depth. apparently waaaay over your head. i’ll try to dumb it down for you next time.

  163. phranctoast:

    typical kev.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. (like most people since theres hardly any news on GT5)

but at least you got a good pot shot in. I’m stupid……hahahahahahhahaahah… heres a medal.

  164. Ivan_PSP:

    phranctoast:
Wow this dude is a pure idiotic moron. He’s writing screams fanboy on denial with some huge bitterness. kev

  165. JofaMang:

    @Kev
The physics claim is suspect. I don’t doubt that there might be 9000 physics calculations, but we don’t know how they are implemented. For example, a blade of grass being effected by the wind of passing cars can itself require hundreds of physics calculations. Also, the definition of physics calculation differs from programmer to programmer. Devs will create their own tools for shortcutting the tedium of known physics equations. What one considers a single physics calculation could include hundreds of known parameters that have been compiled over time and are known to be true(especially if you are looking at a franchise title producer that has been at it for over 12 years). Every developer will have its own methodology and language within their own space. I am not saying you are wrong, I am saying that you are too ignorant to be confidently right.

Stop using a source as proof, when you don’t have the wherewithal to know what it might actually mean. All it proves is that you are a tool for marketing. Just like how you provide Toyo’s involvement as a plus, as it is merely a marketting right purchased by them to be the sole tire namebrand associated with the development of the game. I repeat, you are a tool. But we all knew that already.

Sorry Kev, I don’t have experience flipping or vaulting during racing. The only time racecars flip and vault, is when something goes horrifically wrong, which is actually excedingly rare in the sub-F1/Nascar/Indy race series that the GT series grew up emulating. I do flips and vaults on Motorstorm, you know, another Arcade racer like Forza. You should try it sometime, it seems right up your alley. Also, I have never experience bouncing backwards from hitting a stationary object (or another car) in GT5p. Perhaps you were thinking of PGR, another fine arcade racer in Forza’s league.

Your preponderance to place so much stock in style over substance also discredits your opinion of the series. GT is a known franchise that has always progressed rapidly in its advancing titles. That you are willing to write it off, not knowing anything about it is further proof of your blinded fanboy opinion having no weight for real gamers. None of us know what GT will provide in its full version, GT5p was just a taste, and everything from Graphics, to physics, to AI will be improved upon in the final version. To what degree, we cannot know, except for you of course.

Isn’t it ironic that the most talented people are often severly deficient in other skill sets. It must be so frustrating (or blissful) to be able to see the future and not understand any of it. You are my new favourite savant.

I dropped a box of toothpicks, how many are left in the box?

  166. phranctoast:

jofa gets the post of the week award.

  167. lock_down:

Yeah, it’s kind of funny of how judging by the Forza 3 videos you hit a wall and instantly flip over, almost as a matter of course.

Although I guess they’ve got to show off and milk their big “selling point”.

Although Gran Turismo games have sold quite nicely (52.73 million units) without rollover, so I guess Kaz isn’t too worried.

  168. kev:

jofa – Actually, I’m well aware of how physics parameters are used and programmed. It’s you ps3 fanboys that can’t understand it. The blade of grass analogy is stupid as the physics affecting the cars are only affecting the cars.

I already told you that the physics calcs were implemented by automotive engineers from Ferrari and Toyo Tires. Do you think you know more about accurate physics on an auto than an automotive engineer who does this for a living? Do you think Kaz does? Of course not. Kaz would be the first to tell you he doesn’t. This is prolly also why his team was crowding the Forza 3 demo at E3.

The fact you couldn’t even comprehend toyo tires involvement in creation of the tire physics engine only proves you know nothing of physics, racing, or Forza. You, like all GT fanboys, have no basis of reality, so you think GT is somehow “real”….it clearly isn’t…

Next time just save a lot of time and write, “I don’t know what this means, so I’ll just say I don’t agree”….

“GT is a known franchise that has always progressed rapidly in its advancing title” – now, that’s a marketing tool.

In the 10 years on the market, GT5 is only NOW coming up with damage….oooo…the innovation. In the meantime, they’ve let the competition outpace them in tunings, customizations, painting, uploadable soundtracks, damage, online racing, physics engines and AI. Kaz rested on his name too long and got hammered, as he should be.

While you may think GT is more realistic than Forza, the gaming sites, review sites and testimonials see different. So you consider “bumper car physics” realistic in GT5? Priceless…lmao…

Look next time, just ignore the post.

You call me ignorant? I’ve got a NHTSA Traffic Accident Reconstructionist Qualification under my belt from my years in law enforcement as a Traffic Accident Investigator. Meaning I’ve forgotten more about physics, formulas and calculations of a vehicle-in-motion than you will ever learn.

With this experience and knowledge, I’m confident that Forza does it better and far more realistic than any GT game ever has, and I’ve explained how and why.

So, what is your qualification to state why GT is better? They don’t use automotive engineers. They don’t use accurate physics. They use less parameters. See, now, why ps3 fanboys are silly? The math doesn’t add up. Even when confronted with the facts, they still lie…..

  169. kev:

lockdown – a “selling point”? sure… a more accurate reproduction of real world physics is what any good sim lover would want….

    certainly over 50+, identical, Nissan Skylines… :)

  170. kev:

jofa – but on the bright side, you’ve got phranc’s endorsements…. you know what they say about the blind leading the blind… hee, hee…

i’m still laughing at your blade of grass analogy… funny stuff when talking about vehicles in motion…lmao..

  171. phranctoast:

pretty interesting job kev. I didn’t realize they had that position in law enforcement. I would have thought that an insurance company would though..

  172. kev:

as first responders, LE are most times tasked with investigating motor vehicle accidents. This also prevents the issue of subjectivity that can arise from insurance investigations.

    you learn something new everyday.

  173. phranctoast:

Cool deal. Sound interesting. I may not have the stomach for something like that. Seeing the end results of people getting smacked my trains is usually horrific enough, but in that case they usually don’t look like people anymore so its not as bad.

  174. JofaMang:

I called your utilization of a marketting number as proof ignorant, not your knowledge of physics. Come back and brag about your knowledge of game code when that is what you are experienced with. What a marketing division will do, is take any piece of information, and do their best to use it to their advantage, truthy or not. If a dev tells a marketting guy “hey, we use 9000 physics calculations to create what you see on the screen” the marketting guy will use that number in a press release, regardless of the nature.

You assumption that you have forgotten more about physics than I have learned, is yet another example of you talking out your ass. Your ego supersedes your knowledge. Not surprising for someone in law enforcement, though. Chalk another accident up to excessive speed, should all else fail, right?

I was attacking your fanboy stance, and ignorant projection of the future, combined with the high-protein propaganda you willing take in the mouth and spit back into your posts. I have openly admitted that if Forza 3 is anywhere near as awesome as has been claimed, that it would probably force me to buy a 360.

Are you seeing the difference here? I, on one hand, am open to a future we know truly nothing about (other than what a marketing department has claimed), where as you have already started your laundry list of hate and bias, without experience with either side of the fence.

Grow up, your obfuscation is not fooling me, you are preaching to the xbot choir. That you claim to have such an important, and educated job comes as a major surprise to me (and surely others here) as your presentation is that of an angst ridden, hormone fueled, teen Xbot. I personally still believe the latter, no matter what you claim.

Hey, what the fuck, I am an Aston Martin LM pit crew engineer and top level coder for Polyphony Digital, so what you claim has to be totally and completely wrong. You see how easy it is lie to back up your own Bullshit on the internet?

So how about we keep claims, that cannot be proven, out of the realm of proof in debate, and in the role of anecdotal mentions. Debate on the merits of your information, not on what has been squirted down the back of your throat.

  175. kev:

i have given you information and you give me insults. i’m done.

you’ve ignored the facts, the math, the experience, and knowledge of the developers of Forza in lieu of personal attacks.

    pathetic.

btw; the 9,000 parameters are what was used in other forza games. expect the new one to use more. But thanks for trying to keep up. it was the number produced from Team Ferrari and Toyo Tire engineers, not from marketting people.

you really know nothing of Forza and even less about GT5 apparently.

go ahead and ignore the facts and keep humping sony’s leg. then explain why all the sites have Forza as the reigning king of physics.
enjoy your bumpercar physics, and weak damage, of GT5.

coming from a lifelong GT fan, i can say it’s a shame what Kaz has let happen to his franchise. truly sad.

You lost all cred after this:
“Hey, what the fuck, I am an Aston Martin LM pit crew engineer and top level coder for Polyphony Digital, so what you claim has to be totally and completely wrong. You see how easy it is lie to back up your own Bullshit on the internet?”

if i was going to lie, i’m sure i could come up with a better one than a TA reconstructionist. the difference between you and i, is that i use facts…. you don’t…. enjoy, fanboy..

  176. kev:

ps..the ONLY parameter number stated by Kaz is “300″ in GT4… no mention of an increase in GT5. we all know what a bumercar fest gt4 is… :)

  177. JofaMang:

Again, you bring up the same stale marketing talking points, when I was deconstructing your methodology, and proving how much of a worthless fanboy you are.

It goes both ways. The Invisible Ass Pounder rides into the sunset of irrelevent fanboyistism.

  178. JofaMang:

One last piece of your ignorant “proof”:

“ps..the ONLY parameter number stated by Kaz is “300″ in GT4… no mention of an increase in GT5. we all know what a bumercar fest gt4 is…”

Quoting stats from a 5 year old game… sad. Maybe Kaz doesn’t need to inflate GT’s e-peen with meaningless numbers, that are really really big.

    Buh bye, Xbot.

  179. kev:

face it jofa, physics parameters are beyond your comprehension. otherwise you’d have conceded long ago.

    it’s hilarioius you think they’re “meaningless”…..

seriously, don’t buy either game. Sims are waaaaay beyond your understanding….

in conclusion: I’ve shown the numbers, i’ve shown you how they’re calculated, i’ve shown you how they reproduce accurate physics, i’ve shown you the automotive engineers who brought the calcs to the engine, i’ve shown you their professional expertise, i’ve shown you how Forza has better physics than any GT game to date, and i’ve shown you how….

    you show me personal insults.

congrats ps3 fanboy…. you’ve just past Ivan as the most ignorant ps3 fanboy on this site.

  180. phranctoast:

I’m really looking forward to GT5 coming out so kev can eat some crow.

  181. Roca.:

Forza 3 looks like a Pixilated cartoons compare to GT5……

once again kev let remind the Forza is not competition to GT5…..it needs help of other

Gran Turismo 5 vs [ Froza 3, Dirt 2 and Nascar games]

and even then GT5 still Triumph

  182. Roca.:

and the Gran Turismo series is a racing sim. not a “destruction derby” type of game or an arcade racing game like burnout where there are more cars flying around than anything else.

  183. Roca.:

by the way, you also got cought lying about MGS4 for 360. probably doing the same about forza3. you are just pathetic!

  184. kev:

phranc – what crow? Forza does everything that GT5 does and waaaaay more.

if i want F1 or Rally racing, there are far better games on the market than GT5 for those.

Kaz just put those in there as he knows he’s been beat on the “simulator” side of things.

hey, if you can’t beat them, dazzle them with b.s… right?

Roca – sorry, that was my mistake…. i can’t wait for the new MGS game on the 360. it’ll make MGS4 look old and antiquated…. :)

  185. phranctoast:

“phranc – what crow? Forza does everything that GT5 does and waaaaay more.”

I thought we already established that you are basing your perceptions of GT5 on GT4 and GT5P.
Where can I buy the model times machine you apparently have.

I also hear God of War 3 will have the same polygon count as the previous two games./sarcasm

  186. lock_down:

Oh, so that’s how you spin more content; call it b.s

    kev truly is desperate.

  187. JofaMang:

Rofl kev, you haven’t shown me anything except for your Xbot colours.

    Gratz?

  188. Roca.:

its funny that most of the gaming website compare Forza 3 to Gran Turismo 5.

but then they compare Gran Turismo 5 to REAL LIVE

  189. lock_down:

kev still hasn’t shown me his 300 parameters clai…oh wait, he did, from the highly respected “futuregamez” website.

    haha…hahaha…

  190. Roca.:

    lmaoo

  191. kev:

phranc – uh..hey fanboys…why don’t you post up any quote from kaz saying he’s incorporating more physics parameters than 9,0000

    D’OH!!! 9,000 (from the very first Forza) > 300….

like the man said: i can’t wait for gt5 to be released so you clowns can start eating crow.

enjoy your bumpercar physics, damageless cars, brain dead AI, and subpar online…

lockdown – several sites have compared Forza to real life…. ouch…

so, in conclusion: i’ve shown you facts, i’ve shown you data, i’ve shown you quotes from Kaz, and the fact he’s using the same engine as previous GT games..

you guys? ignore the facts and attack the poster…

wow..it must be killing you to know Forza outclassed the entire GT franchise in their first outting… (for the ps3 fanboys, it was egm, 1up, and Gamespot that gave the original Forza better physics and realism than gt4…as well as most other sites and anyone who’s played both)

so what does GT5 bring new? no new physics, no new AI, no damage in all the cars, less car detail than Forza 3, no ability to paint, etc, etc, etc….

all you have to hype is a name. wow…maybe 10 years ago hyping the name GT would be enough, but time moves on, and GT lost their crown…. sad…but funny…

and what you guys brought to back up GT5? insults. Kaz would be sooo proud…lmao…

it’s hilarious you claim i have a time machine when you bozos continously hype games on the ps3 as “blockbuster exclusives” that haven’t released yet….

    friggin’ hilarious…..

  192. kev:

    it’s okay, guys…

i understand why you hype GT so hard….

with only 2 of the 360′s exclusives outselling all of the ps3′s exclusives put together, GT needs every sale it can get…lol….

i just can’t figure out; why don’t more ps3 gamers buy these exclusives if they’re really as great as you fanboys say…. prolly b/c their really NOT that great… :)

  193. kev:

    oops..hit the button too soon…

have a great day, fanboys…. time is ticking for GT5..

altho i do predict good reviews as the ps3 is sorely lacking in quality racers to compare against….

    out for the day… c-ya..

  194. lock_down:

Wow, 3 desperation posts in a row. Doesn’t it just reek of insecurity.

Although I guess it’s understandable. When Prologue matches a fully fledged release in FM2 for sales, I guess you can’t help but be insecure :)

  195. Roca.:

based it sells number forza 2 wan’t even near prologue.

figure that out kev. physics parameter? do you even know that that mean… I think forza needs more than that to compete with GT (uhmm like more cars, or maybe match GT5s graphics, or be able to take all the cars you owned to a portable device……………ohh real time weather changes comes into mind too)

  196. kev:

this is sooo sad. i can remember a time when GT fanboys could actually post up a good debate based on the merits of the game. Now? all you have left if personal insults.

truly sad. GT used to be the pinnacle of console sim racing…. but alas….

Roca – i’d love to see where you get your sales numbers from….
so…based on your logic, sales = quality?

great…that means Halo 3 and Geow on the 360 have faaaar better quality than ALL of the ps3′s exclusives combined… i’m starting to see why people are ignoring the ps3….

more cars in GT5? it’s actually the same car, painted different colors…. with that math, since you can create virtually millions of different paint combos per car in Forza, this must mean that Forza has millions of cars vs. 900 in GT5…..

those are interesting features but play no part in a sim.

yes, roca…i’ve explained what physics parameters are, how their incorporated, and why more = more realistic….. you ps3 fanboys simply ignore the facts and attack the poster….

then again, that’s all you’re left with once the facts are presented….

    truly sad….

  197. Roca.:

“Roca – i’d love to see where you get your sales numbers from….
so…based on your logic, sales = quality?”

    @ Kev

what an idiot you are, THAT WAS YOU FUCKING logic (sales = quality), I was just responding to your stupid logic.

Kev: “i understand why you hype GT so hard….

with only 2 of the 360’s exclusives outselling all of the ps3’s exclusives put together, GT needs every sale it can get…lol….”

^^ did you even forget that it was you who started the “sales = quality” post. what an Idiot! im done with you

  198. lock_down:

“more cars in GT5? it’s actually the same car, painted different colors…. with that math, since you can create virtually millions of different paint combos per car in Forza, this must mean that Forza has millions of cars vs. 900 in GT5…..”

This makes me laugh so much. The level of pure, unashamed spin is just a wonder to behold.

You know the final car list in GT5 do you kev? You know that GT5 won’t have a customisation feature do you kev?

    what.a.moron.

  199. phranctoast:

    Nice.

Roca actually made kev look like an ass.

Usually that privilege is given solely to kev.

  200. kev:

ROCA – “This makes me laugh so much. The level of pure, unashamed spin is just a wonder to behold. You know the final car list in GT5 do you kev? You know that GT5 won’t have a customisation feature do you kev? what.a.moron.”

yes, i know that GT5 does not have over 1,000 layers per car to be painted and decaled like Forza does. heck, GT5 can’t even get damage in all cars like Forza…

Don’t believe me? wait for GT5….then come back and apologize… bah, we both know you don’t have the cajones for that…

really, what “spin” is; is touting 900 cars when there are sooooo many repeats of the same car. For instance; GT4 had over 40 nissan skylines…most of which were identical, only with different paint…. is that REALLY 40 “different cars”? of course not, but that’s what you ps3 fanboys claim….

so, if you can consider a different paint job as a different car, why doesn’t this hold true for Forza? oh yeah, that’s right…b/c you’re a ps3 fanboy who doesn’t use rationale or reason …or even reality…

congrats tho: you got phranc to agree with you… lmao….

it’s just soooo sad you and phranc have to resort to personal insults once again, instead of using facts.

then again, facts say forza is the superior sim, so i can see why you wouldn’t want to use them… :)

i’m still waitinig for your link to the sales of Forza 2 vs. GT5P…. i’m starting to doubt you…. hmm….

i never said sales = quality… if so, where? … i simply said that IF the ps3 games were as great as you and Mike Ferro claim, more ps3 gamers would be buying them. But their not…. heck, even the reviews for most ps3 exclusives are “meh” at best….

For instance; halo is great. geow is great. COD is great. And LOTs of gamers bought them. I was just pointing out that you’re full of it.

poor fanboys… it must be really killing you two to know that GT5 is just more of the same…oh…this time with “F1″ and “Rally”….. lmao…

    oooo….teh sim…..

  201. lock_down:

    haha…hahaha…

  202. kev:

lock down – agreed. GT5 is a complete joke. :)

  203. Roca.:

havent you noticed your the only xbot excited about Forza 3…..the game is just Forza 2 with a couple more cars.

If you think there are going to be repeats of the same car you are out of your mind. you must say that after you experience with Forza 2.

If you think a Subaru Impressa and a Subaru Impressa STI are the same care (repeat) then you dont know what ur talking about.

Forza 3 vs NFS: Pro Street is a fair match if you ask me. (NFS might even have more layers)

  204. lock_down:

“lock down – agreed. GT5 is a complete joke.”

And you know this how, exactly?

But don’t worry, you surpassed yourself by claiming more content is “b.s”. That was one of your lowest posts.

Not as low as linking to futuregamez (with no quote from Kaz, either), but pretty close :)

  205. kev:

roca – actually, i’m not the only 360 fan excited about forza 3. you’ll find out once it’s released.

only forza 2 with more cars? right…oh, except the new graphics engine, new lighting engine, new physics engine, new damage modeling, new car models, new abilities, and waaaaay more tracks than previous versions…

    yep…”identical”..lmao..

funny comparison on the Subaru Impressa. now, look at the other 900 cars and count the repeats with different paint jobs. same car, same engine, same chasis….different paint….oooo…the “more cars”…

lockdown – because GT5p is a joke, so was gt4… with no mention of any significant upgrades from Kaz, GT5 looks to be more of the same… he promised “damage” in gt5 over a year ago. what did he deliver? partial damage in only some cars. he failed.

“more content” in GT5? more cars you mean…. same lame physics, same lame AI, same lame glued-to-the-track physics, same bumping through corners, etc, etc…

i don’t know…as a racing fan, i’m more prone to race 100 tracks in Forza than try to race 900 cars (empty fluff) in GT5…..

heck, i still don’t race most of the 400 cars in previous gt games on my ps…… and why? because they’re all about the same…. bumpercars….

what’s the point of various cars when they all behave the same? bleh…. (overstatement, but not by much)

    out the day…

  206. kev:

    “out FOR the day”…sorry…

  207. Roca.:

    100 tracks???

I bet the are all duplicates with a tree here and there to make them look a lil different.

GT5 has 80 confirmed unique tracks from all over the world. more tracks to be announced soon

  208. lock_down:

kev, while GT4 wasn’t a joke, I’ll give you that it wasn’t as much fun as GT3…but GT5P a joke, I mean seriously? Have you played it?

Spec I, II and III all got upgraded physics, and each car handles very differenty, so I don’t know why you continue to believe that they all handle the same.

If you’re basing your opinions on damage from the GamesCom demo, then that’s almost certainly old code, as the E3 trailer showed more sophisticated damage, and tbh, I have a hard time believing that having spent two years (at least) preparing damage, that a bumper and door falling off is the best they’ve come up with.

In terms of customisation, Kaz has already said that in terms of car customisation that Forza is already ahead, and PD have said for 5 years now that each car is constructed from individual parts for part replacement, etc, so I wouldn’t rule out a customisation option as it’s clearly on Kaz’s radar.

But the reality is that you’re simply just in no position to judge to GT5 when no-one knows anything about it, short of wildly varying translations.

  209. kev:

lockdown – yes, i’ve played GT5p… 70 cars isn’t a full game, so why is sony charging so much? why do cars go backwards when striking another car or object?

kaz already stated he did not incorporate damage in all cars. please go read more about it.

    “kaz’s radar”? that’s your argument? c’mon…show me some proof…

actually there are many articles on GT5, so yes, i do know quite a bit about it…..

    not hard to find….google helps…

    ROCA – i’ll bet you’re wrong… and i’ll also bet you won’t admit it when proven so….

  210. Roca.:

“kaz already stated he did not incorporate damage in all cars. please go read more about it.”

Kaz amited that not ALL cars will have “interior” damage. “All” cars will have exterior damage.

some car companies didnt want GT to show implement interior damage to their cars….but at least GT have some kind of interior damage where areas Forza 3 has none

  211. kev:

Roca – actually, you’re making stuff up again. Kaz did not state he incorporated damage in all cars. but hey, don’t believe me, wait for the game, then man-up and apologize…

how does one damage the interior of a car w/o damaging the outside in a race? that’s the dumbest thing i’ve heard in a long time….

    seriously…how? i want a laugh….

  212. lock_down:

    thegamergene.com/ps3/gran-turismo-creator-says-forza-is-ahead-in-features/

No kev, there are no articles on GT5… there are just speculation articles on GT5.

  213. kev:

    look harder…..

then again, you may not need to if that link is real… i can’t get to it from work… but the title pretty much says it all….

so why would i want a racer with less features again? :)

  214. kev:

lock – do a search for Kazunori Yamauchi instead of GT5… may help… good luck.

  215. lock_down:

“so why would i want a racer with less features again?”

And how do you know you’re getting less features in GT5? That’s right genius, you don’t.

Alright then, show me a link where it lays out all of GT5′s features….and don’t use the “at work” excuse.

Although that’s irrelevant, and you know why…because you can’t show me any proof that it does or doesn’t.

All we know about GT5 is it has NASCAR, WRC, 1000 cars, 80 tracks, head tracking and a damage model that has about 20 different translations depending on which website you read, and that goes for the cars and tracks.

That’s it. Anything else is speculation. No one knows what the other features will consist of.

    Least of all you.

  216. kev:

lock – look, at least try to read some of Kaz’s interviews before pulling this crap….

the fact kaz has made NO mention of new, more comprehensive, physics, underscore the fact he’s using old tech.

Forza’s cars have undercarriage modeling. GT5 doesn’t. Forza’s cars can flip (as race cars do sometimes), GT5 cars can’t. Forza has damage in ALL cars… GT5 does not. (otherwise, show me quote where he claims it does). Forza uses actual automotive engineers in the creation of their physics engine…GT5 does not. GT5 has 80 tracks… Forza has over 100….

so now it’s “1000 cars”…? it’s funny b/c kaz has only claimed 900… you ps3 fanboys just keep going and going and going… geez….

like i said, wait for the game, then come back and own up to your mistakes….

    i just think it’s sad that, as a 360 gamer, i’ve read more Kaz interviews about GT5 than you, a ps3 fanboy….

  217. lock_down:

Get a clue moron, Kaz confirmed what appeared on the PD website is true, so it is 1000 cars.

You mustn’t be able to read to very well; other than what has been confirmed (which isn’t much) I’m not the one saying what GT5 will or won’t have…you’re the one saying it won’t have anything without having anything to back it up.

Kaz made no mention of NASCAR or WRC until they showed up at E3. Nor did he make any hint about 1000 cars (everyone assumed circa 600) until it showed up on PD’s site and he later confirmed.

When you get real facts about what GT5 won’t have, get back to me.

  218. Roca.:

Like I said…you the only moron who thinks FM3 is at the same level of GT5.

even after FM3 creator said like 100 times that Forza was the “Definitive Racing Game” at E3, that was a true statement for just about a Day, until GT5 blew them out of the water with their E3 trailer, showing W2R and Nascar for the first time and a graphical improvement from GT5:P. and it also show that it is a more realistic Racing sim than Forza3 who were just showing car rolling around, flying all over the place and doing donuts. Forza 3 is years behind GT5.

oh wait I forgot !!! GT5 didnt blow them out of the water………..it was GT PSP!! sorry for the misunderstanding.

Forza 3 = Definitive Racing Game (for one day)

  219. Roca.:

Remember “NASCAR 08 and 09″ ??? well guess what…. dont expect t see a NASCAR 2010 because EA just drop the series and they have no plans on making another Nascar game.

see what GT5 can do! that is what I call POWER in the racing genre

    oh wait there is more:
“Sony have confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 and Motorstorm Pacific are playable in 3D at this IFA press event. ”

another feature Forza 3 is lacking of

  220. kev:

ROCA – “you the only moron who thinks FM3 is at the same level of GT5. ”

you’re right… Forza 3 is a definately in a class above GT5…. i’ve already listed the reasons why… meanwhile you hype NASCAR, F1 and Rally as somehow proof of what, exactly…

    who has 3d tv genius? wow….what a feature…

you are soooooo easily sold… lmao…

look, you ps3 fanboys simply ignore the math, the facts and the data which clearly has Forza head-and-shoulders above any GT game…

go ahead and believe what you want. When they both launch, we’ll see which is more realistic. After all, realism is what simulators are all about…

  221. kev:

roca – it’s funny you ignored my question about the interior damage… i wonder why…oh wait…i already know why… lol…

  222. Roca.:

I have proven you wrong twice already dont need to do it again. you a complete joke.

  223. kev:

no Roca, you’ve proven nothing. You made a bunch of claims that the developer hasn’t even made..

    now, answer the question:

How does the cockpit of car get damaged without the exterior getting damaged in race?

the only joke here, is the fanboys who think 300 physics parameters can provide better mathematical reproductions than 9,000 parameters.. ie; you and lock down…

  224. Roca.:

idk how many physics parameters GT5 has….but if it is 300, I wonder what does 9,000 parameters do to Froza 3 because GT5 at 300 looks and plays better (and has more content) than forza 3

  225. Roca.:

maybe the 9,000 parameters are for the flying/rolling cars….. or maybe 9,000 parameters is the total parameters combined per cars which is equal to = 22.5 parameters per cars (based on 400 cars). then you can divide 22.5 by 2 (since Forza is a 2 disc game) then you have 11.25 per cars…..pretty impressive huh….

the 300 parameters per car on GT5 is pretty amazing though

  226. kev:

roca – “because GT5 at 300 looks and plays better (and has more content) than forza 3″

actually, it’s only the sony fanboys who think this. …

  227. kev:

roca – actually, kaz agrees with me… Forza 3 has more to offer than GT5..

    games.kikizo.com/features/gt5_kazyamauchi_iv_oct07_p1.asp

    ….ouch…
