Xbox 360 Tales of Vesperia knocks PS3 Slim off No. 1 – or has it?
The PS3 Slim has been on a roll on Amazon ever since it was announced nearly two weeks ago. However, it seems like there is a new top dog in town and it’s the Xbox 360 version of Tales of Vesperia, knocking the PS3 Slim off the number one spot. Is the momentum for the PS3 Slim finally starting to fall?
After the announcement of the PS3 Slim and price drop to $299, the Slim has been holding a solid number one spot on Amazon for about two weeks. However, all of a sudden the number one spot was taken by none other than the Xbox 360 version of Tales of Vesperia just over a period of a day. Currently at the time of this writing the PS3 Slim is sitting at number two.

As one of our readers tipped us (thanks Carlb), sales for Tales of Vesperia leapfrogged by an incredible 1,800 percent from where it was before on Amazon. I thoroughly enjoyed Tales of Vesperia mid last year but its hard to fathom why there would be a sudden resurgence in interest. After doing a little bit of digging it turns out that Amazon had a one day sale for the game for $15 on Saturday. Unfortunately for late comers the price of the game has now gone back up to $32.21 as of today.
It really is a solemn reminder of how fickle Amazon sales ranking can be, no matter how much stock we would like to put in it. For those who wished that they could have picked it up on the cheap side should still consider picking up this great RPG title. For those who recently picked up a PS3 Slim might want to hold off and think about getting the PS3 version (JP: Sept 17, 09, US: TBA 2010) with more extra content including two new playable characters, new boss battles, and is (finally) entirely voiced with new cut scenes.

Big deal.
Toshiba’s HD DVD players were not only the number selling DVD player but also the number 1 selling electrical device on Amazon USA, UK and France & Germany.
….and we all know how that ended up.
It didn’t make a blind bit of difference in the end.

“sales for Tales of Vesperia leapfrogged by an incredible 1800 percent from where it was before on Amazon.”
I knew Happy would do anything to get the PS3 off the top spot!
August 30th, 2009
I’m assuming that you are saying the PS3 is going to go down the same way the your infamous toshiba HD dvd player?
August 30th, 2009
No, I interpretted HH as saying that just because an Item is #1 on Amazon for any amount of time, doesn’t mean it is immune to being a complete failure, as per his example given.
August 30th, 2009
Correst JofaMang.
Success or failure is far from guaranteed when you are Amazon’s No. 1.
Even when you are the number 1 ‘electrical item’, no less, in the entire inventory and even with a retailer as enormous as Amazon.
August 30th, 2009
LiteBrite would have been a killer item on Amazon in 1983, and where is it now, hunh, WHERE IS IT NOW!~??~!!

Correst!?
Bl**dy hell, it’s catching.
Shut up Ivan.

Slim’s back on top and Vesperia is #2 now.

The GoldBox deals always skyrocket up to the top, then fade away. There have been some embarrassing Wii shovelware titles that make it to the number 1 spot due to being $5 or so.
This, over my Batman review? *sigh*
August 30th, 2009
Thanks for the credit on the tip and the explanation Mike… I didn’t think to check the past game deals.
Still pretty weird though, as I’ve seen some pretty popular games go on Amazon for less and not even make it in the top ten in the past. I guess it was just the right timing (and resellers who knew they could sell it for more, probably even to Gamestop).

Barnabe,
Batman AA is a great game and everybody knows it. The end.

Epic VP Mark Rein has said that getting paid for Gears of War 2 was his favourite Xbox 360 moment, in an interview in issue 50 of OXM.
“Getting the first royalty cheque for Gears of War,” he answered when OXM asked for his favourite memory of Microsoft’s console. “I bet no one gave you an honest answer like that! Wait, no, my favourite moment was the first cheque from Gears 2. Because it was bigger.”
Microsoft nothing to buy this year i guess the bank is outer business. Chapter 11 for developers little bank. Most developer lured Microsoft to pay them too i bet since they were given checks from every corner. Microsoft was getting played because it doesn’t develop video games.
August 30th, 2009
“he answered when OXM asked for his favourite memory of Microsoft’s console.”
Lol, it sounds like an obituary.
Seriously though, Epic need to get Gears 3 on PS3. And make a PSP version as well.
August 31st, 2009
lock_down:
Gears of War will come to PS3 since Epic Games owns the IP. They just waiting for the Microsoft exclusivity deal ends. They should do what Tecmo did with Ninja Gaiden for PLAYSTATION 3. Also i rather Epic Games make a PS2 version over a PSP version. Because PS2 has better controls it will be bad on PSP in some many ways.
Electronic Arts will also bring Mass Effect the trilogy to the PS3 as an enhanced version is just a matter of time.

#9 Tales of Vesperia
arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/08/exploring-online-play-film-making-with-uncharted-2.ars
Naughty Dog’s Community Manager Arne Meyer submitted the following 10 facts, and they detail just how much work has gone into the game.
1. Over 130,000 people participated in our Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta, covering players from 135 countries all over the world.
2. The total of all multiplayer and co-op games played during the three weeks of our Beta was over 40,300 hours.
3. In Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune we had 104 individual environment files on the disc; in Uncharted 2 we have over 400.
4. We spent over 30 days on our soundstage recording motion capture performances which resulted in over 90 minutes of cinematics — along with a ton of in-game animations.
5. Our daily back-up of data has been averaging over one terabyte lately… and that covers only Uncharted 2 assets and data.
6. We drank a s*** ton of soda — over 30,000 cans — and one bottle of bourbon during the two years of production on Uncharted 2.
7. Between the 100+ Dogs working at the studio, we have over 16 nationalities and over 10 languages represented.
8. We’ve moved twice in our history: From the Universal Studios lot next to Insomniac games to an office spot above a Santa Monica outdoor mall, and to our current space — formerly Sony BMG’s offices.
9. We still have several of the “Original Naughty Dogs” with us, who started the first Crash Bandicoot game almost 14 years ago!
10. We’ve always had at least one dog “mascot” at Naughty Dog since the beginning. Currently our resident dogs are Pogo, a French Bulldog, and Trumpet, a Bichon Frise.

Get UNCHARTED 2 so we can play Co-Op or online competitive i was awesome in the beta.
phranctoast:
You too get UNCHARTED 2 so we can play the same i told Roca. I will be skipping Call Of Duty maybe even thought it looks so cool pure terrorist clothes aka mercenaries. As much as i hate Activision they have a really great IP.
Today i saw the last new trailer for Heavy Rain the game so interested. This game will make history as new gaming ideas go is so original. Quantic Dream i gotta give them credit for even trying such game is not an easy task to try.
Also i can’t wait to see what Guerilla Games and LightBox Interactive are making.

Ivan, I have a question…
How do we know that Super_Secret is legit? Everyone believes everything this guy says, but I haven’t seen any proof.
Ars Technica mole has at least proven himself over time. Has Super_Secret ever been right before?
I’m not sure I really believe this story. EA supports chat on the 360, why would they block it on the PS3? Also I find it hard to believe that this is all due to Harry Potter not looking as good as the 360 version.
Any ideas?
August 31st, 2009
Speaking of ‘legit’…..
Hey Roca, how come that ‘insider’ Microsoft pal of your you claimed to know was able to tell you about a missing HDMI cable (which was on the box art and any saturday job schoolboy could have spotted)……..
…….. and yet he completely failed to mention the new 250gb Flite SKU?
What sort of job does this ‘insider’ have at Microsoft?
Teaboy?
Postboy?
Lavatory attendant?
August 31st, 2009
is the 250GB 360 legit or still only a rumor? What do you guys think it will cost in the US. I think it should be $399.
Sony was getting away with charging $100 more for the 160GB over the 80GB but they also had a game included. I guess we’ll wait and see.
August 31st, 2009
It’s legit.
Amazon Geermany did the same thing with the PS3 slim.
It’s been posted up as 250gb @ €279.99 = £246 (less than the UK price of the PS3 slim = £249).
August 31st, 2009
if its just a bigger HDD it should be around $350
it it has agame included then it’ll be $400.
@ happy,
I said he is a friend of mine, I never said I was married with him. I dont speak or see him everyday. and He works for M$ tech center in Massachusetts not for the M$’s 360 division. Idk where he got the info from (maybe he knows a guy who works directly with the 360 division) but he was 100% right I guess. uhmmm and if you dont want to believe me that’s your problem not mine.
Happy: “What sort of job does this ‘insider’ have at Microsoft?”
why dont you ask me for his name and phone number while you are at it?? seriously just drop it because your aint getting nothing out of it.
August 31st, 2009
Off topic for 360 ppl.
How was the section 8 demo? This guy a work was talking it up before the demo, but I haven’t seen him in a while.
Is the game worth picking up on the PC?
August 31st, 2009
“if its just a bigger HDD it should be around $350

yet MS charges over $100 for a 120GB HDD. $350 doesn’t seem like it follows the usual MS price structure. Maybe they’re going to stop f’in the fans with the HDD prices now.
August 31st, 2009
@ phranctoast
“The X Server software will come packaged with the PC version of Section 8, free of charge. That’s sort of a first for something Microsoft-oriented. Anyway, when using dedicated servers PC users will be able to host games for up to 64 players on the PC version of the game and up to 32 players on the Xbox 360 version of the game. That’s not bad, not bad at all. “

August 31st, 2009
“Both of the classic PS2 games will sport remastered, anti-aliased graphics. It’s said they’ll run at 60 frame per second with 1280 x 720 resolution. Sony’s adding Trophies to each game as well.”
Trophies……even better, this game just went up to the top of my holiday list
August 31st, 2009
GOW2 was supposed to have a 720p mode. I could never get it working right.
August 31st, 2009
I agree Roca. They should most definitely do that with ICO and SOTC before the last guardian!!!

phranctoast:
“yet MS charges over $100 for a 120GB HDD. $350 doesn’t seem like it follows the usual MS price structure. Maybe they’re going to stop f’in the fans with the HDD prices now.”
They’ll do what they did to the 20gb when the 60gb & 120gb came out.
Prices will fall.
It’s obvious from the price given in Germany what they meant by ‘quantities limited’ which was on the present Elite price-cut flyers
(and which I remarked on at the time and wondered what the significance of that would be, now we know).
There’s a €30 price difference (€249 v €279) so it looks like they’re upping the price on the 120gb by €30/£26/$43 US/$51 AUS.
But then you do get the new Forza, 2 wireless controllers & that 250gb hard drive.
Compared to PS3 slim I reckon that’s a very attractive deal.
GOW1&2 for $40!?
Where are all the complaints about no b/c now?
If it was Microsoft had done this some of you guys would be bashing away like billyo.
August 31st, 2009
@ phranctoast

those games look fucking horrible on a HDTV.

That is a good deal.
“GOW1&2 for $40!?

I have a BC ps3 and I’m still getting it for the bump in resolution.
If MS came out with Halo 1 and 2 bumped up in HD and coming out for $40 you would here no complaint from me… but wait.. they did. it’s Halo 3.
August 31st, 2009
@Roca.
I found SOTC good looking on my HD tv. My TV is also a rear projection and not LCD.. that could be the reason. Sometimes the jagged edges displayed on LCD look better on my type of TV.
August 31st, 2009
@ Happy
“But then you do get the new Forza, 2 wireless controllers & that 250gb hard drive. Compared to PS3 slim I reckon that’s a very attractive deal.

There has been rumor of a 250GB Slim with GT5, and the rumor first started a day after the PS3 Slim annoucement when some discovered and 250 GB Slim sku Under SCEA address.
I will be more than happy to pay $40 to have a blu-ray version (remasterd and with trophies) of GoW 1&2 sitting right next to my GoW3 disc when it comes out.
Now if Sony just do this with the whole PS2 libraby put them up in the PS Store…thats a real Winner
August 31st, 2009
“Now if Sony just do this with the whole PS2 libraby put them up in the PS Store…thats a real Winner”

August 31st, 2009
Roca
The difference will be that they will not be replacing the 120gb PS3 slim.
Microsoft will be replacing the 120gb Elite with the 250gb version (as we now know from those ‘limited qualtities’ notes on the bottom of the price-cut flyers).
August 31st, 2009
PS2 library on PS3?
Well that would be some job.
The biggest problem would be ’stretch-o-vision’ seeing as so many of the PS2 games are in 4:3 a/r and not 16:9.
August 31st, 2009
$15 or comparable to its hard copy in the used game market.
@Happy.
so MS is going to have a 250GB $299 Elite. Thats a better deal than currently.
Id still rather have a BD player than an extra 150GB HDD space.
Believe it or not, theres a lot of 16:9 ps2 games out there.
August 31st, 2009
If they get it done right with the God of War collection the it shouldnt be a problem. plus I will be more than happy to play an hd version of a PS2 game on any dimension (4:3 a/r)
August 31st, 2009
so the Elite will be $400 in the states and the Slim will be $300.
PS3 is a better deal, because I bought a 500GB HDD for under $90 I bet u can find them alot cheaper now
August 31st, 2009
phranctoast
Agree it’s an excellent deal.
I might buy it & sell my existing Elite in Oct.
It depends what the UK bundle & pricing is going to be.
Personally I prefer a dedicated blu-ray player every time.
That and an Xbox.
Roca
If I were you I’d wait until you find out the pricing in $.
We know what it is in € and I can buy in € with no extra taxes thanks to the EU.
You can’t.
The Elite & PS3 slim’s price @ $299 US is not the same as it is in the USA.
Perhaps you don’t know but the pricing here is not equal.
The Elite is currently £199 in the UK, the PS3 slim is £249.
The Elite is €249 in Europe and the PS3 slim is €299.
August 31st, 2009
Roca
I also have a 500gb external drive for my Elite.
So what?
You can’t save full games to yoiur and neither can I.
I can make use of it for HD movies & music & pics – I can even get around the FAT32 4gb limit easily with it.
(which IIRC you can’t with an internal HDD on PS3)
August 31st, 2009
wait a second.
Rocas 500GB HDD is external?
I though 500GB internals had issues with fat32…
August 31st, 2009
I took him to mean internal.
You can format an external drive however you like
(although I’m not sure PS3 is ok with that)
but if it is an internal 500gb drive then afaik you are stuck with FAT32 and limited to 4gb video file sizes.
August 31st, 2009
Is that not also true of PS3 external drives?
August 31st, 2009
my HDD is a seagate 500GB internal HDD and the the PS3 reformated the HDD for me so IDK all the details. and the Last movies I bought over the PSN was “21″ and it was well over 8GB.
August 31st, 2009
Externals must also be FAT32.
August 31st, 2009
Internal PS3 drives use Sony’s own file system so it’s unlimited to a file size.
External has be FAT32.
August 31st, 2009
Thanks.
Fat32 for both, thought so.
4gb file size limits, must be a bummer.
Especially with all those excellent quality HD films out there @ well over 4gb.
August 31st, 2009
Roca
Interesting, so they’ll sell you a file over 4gb but won’t allow you to d/l one yourself?
August 31st, 2009
Microsoft will do that too – but at least we can format an external drive with HFS+ & sidestep all the Fat32 limitations.
August 31st, 2009
Happy: “”Interesting, so they’ll sell you a file over 4gb but won’t allow you to d/l one yourself?”
I was able to download and watch it the whole 8gb of the movie….I believe that Lock_down answered your question (see below)
lock_down: “Internal PS3 drives use Sony’s own file system so it’s unlimited to a file size.”
so there is no limitations on the file size. MSG4 install is also 5GB and I didnt have any problem with installing it. so i guess there is no limit
August 31st, 2009
Proprietary files can exceed the 4gb file limit, as they are actually split within their own video container, bypassing the FAT32 limitation.
August 31st, 2009
Ah my bad.
So, you can fill the internal drive with files over 4gb but not an external drive?
That must mean internal drives of 250gb or less are a real PITA.
Even with bigger drives it must make for a busy & annoying internal drive which gets full quickly (assuming you d/l a lot of top quality HD movies……12gb+ encodes are starting to become more common now).
I’d also say it gives a pretty pointless ability to use an external drive.
Knowing this I think I honestly prefer the Xbox system.
It too has its limits but at least I can keep the internal solely for gaming and do what I like with whatever HDD I like.
August 31st, 2009
“So, you can fill the internal drive with files over 4gb but not an external drive?”
Why would I need an External HDD when I can get an internal HDD as big as 750GB. and the 12GB+ encodes is not a problem for us PS3 owner because I rather buy a Bluray movie instead of the digital version.
August 31st, 2009
What the HDD reports as a single file size can actually be many different files. Reported information is controlled through registry and encryption methods.
Also, 4gb 1080p mp4 files are stunning quality. I have learned to rip them myself, and to be quite honest, the compression is so good, that I shelve my BDs after they are ripped, and just play the rips when I want to watch them.
The only limitation to streaming video is if the bitrate exceeds the bandwidth of your network (highly unlikely with even a 10/100MB network adapter). So if you stream from your NTFS formatted computer over your network, the sky is virtually the limit for video size.
August 31st, 2009
Limited timed people.
This moron (Happyhockum) loves trying to make a bad propaganda. There’s going to be a PS3 bundle this holiday with a 250GB HDD.
thesixthaxis.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Slim250GB.png
I rather buy my own hard drive.
August 31st, 2009
I don’t think they’ll be a 250GB PS3.
I reckon Sony snuck that under the radar to make it look like they were going to launch a 250GB PS3, in order to goad/convince MS into also launching a 250GB 360…because we’ve only heard about this 250GB 360 after we heard about the 250GB PS3 didn’t we?
All Sony then do is bundle GT5 with a standard $299 slim and they’re good to go with the better price over a $399 360 with FM3.
You could argue having GT5 over Forza 3 is already the better deal, but that’s another discussion
August 31st, 2009
lock_down:
The PS3 Slim 250gb rumor started way before Microsoft had a price cut or a 250gb rumor.
August 31st, 2009
Roca
As I understand it the choices of hard drive you can fit are limited due to the height restriction of the caddy (something which may or may not return to haunt the slim).
“I rather buy a Bluray movie instead of the digital version.”
I prefer try before buy.
JofaMang
I’m not going to disagree that some encodes can be outstanding at surprisingly low file sizes but I wouldn’t go as far as saying a 4gb 1080p encode was “stunning quality”.
Some are not bad but personally I prefer DVD5 (4.3gb) for 720p encodes and at least DVD9 8.5gb for 1080p – some 720p movies @ 8.5gb are very very good.
Ivan
“This moron (Happyhockum)”
F*ck you very Ivan, like anyone respects your laughably predicted opinions.

New that there is a 250gb slim coming was released (or leaked) almost as the slim official announcement was made.
The 250gb Xbox news was within days of that so it’s just not credible to imagine that all that (Amazon pages created and set up etc etc) happened to react to Sony.
Where did you get the idea that a 250gb Elite will be $399?
The fact is that the entire bundle in Germany is going to be priced at €30 more than the 120gb Elite.
That’s just £26/$43 US/$51 AUS.
You might also care to notice that it is also less than the current price in the UK and Germany of the 120gb PS3 slim.
That being the case there is no reason to imagine that the 250gb Elite will be $399.
I expect it to be $299 given that in the USA the PS3 slim and the Xbox Elite are priced at the same level.

A 120GB and 250GB 360 with two controllers and FM3 both at the same price? I’ll be a-mazed if that happens.
August 31st, 2009
@HH
I should have been clearer. 4gb 1080p files can be stunning quality considering the fact that they are only 4gb.
I have also seen appreciable quality headroom in 1.4-2gb BD rips over DVD quality. From an absolute standpoint, BD off the disc will always be best, but in comparison, BD rips perform very well against the other available sources.

I don’t know what the deal will be in the USA, I do know (you can see it too, it’s all over the net) that the 120gb Elite is €249 right now and the 250gb Elite is going on sale in Oct with Forza & another wireless controller for €279 (just £26/$43 US/$51 AUS).
Nice deal huh?
JofaMang
I agree.
It’s not hard to find them either.
There are several of the encoding groups doing extremely high quality stuff.
Considering these are all ‘just’ talented amateurs imagine what professionals with professional quality encoding tools could do?
August 31st, 2009
It is actually easier than I thought it would be, as there are already click tools for cracking the encryption, and nice GUIs for the ripping programs. It is a LOT of trial and error, and that is where the big encoding names have made headway with the resources that make me look like I am running a Tandy from 1984.
The big difference is time to accomplish. It takes my computer about 12h per 2h movie to encode from the raw data into 1080p, and I don’t have a terrible computer (Phenom II x3 OC from 2.6 to 3.35ghz, 4gb 1066 premium ram, 120gb SSD Boot drive, 2×1tb Caviar Blacks in raid config). If it is a poor rip, I have wasted 20h of 100% cpu usage, which is hard on longevity (especially OC’d) and my wife hates me for 2 hours of every single hour the comp is tied up encoding.
With this scenario, trial and error is devastatingly slow. I would need a new dual socket, 24gb ram i7 rig to really make a big improvement, but I ain’t made of money, and I don’t need to be awesome at ripping THAT bad, hah.

LOL
Hobbies eh?
Nice rig btw.
Normally I look out for ESiR, their encodes are almost without fail as good as it gets.
Do you u/l yours anywhere, I’d love a peek?
August 31st, 2009
Nah, just share with a few friends with PS3s. My internet has awesome D/L speeds (3.5MB) but a horrible upload cap (100KB) so it would take me a week to upload it once superseeding.
I learned a lot from Bricktop, a demonoid user who makes 4gb files BD rips specifically for PS3. His rips are astounding, the 4gb ones I was going on about before.
August 31st, 2009
LOL
I know him, on demonoid.
I agree, he does some nice stuff.

Demonoid-4-life
450gb up, 490gb down. I love it, damn near broke my heart when they shut down for 6months a few years back (after the Canada move and before the Brazil move).
August 31st, 2009
Oh and thanks for the compliment on the rig. The OC communities I belong to are totally jaded with extreme equipment… so much so that I am generally one of the lowest on the totem poles. I am in the top 20 on HWbot for OCing my CPU, though, so I guess that is something.
hehehehehehe, i said poles.
August 31st, 2009
Yeah, remember that well, so glad it returned.
A few have gone down recently, always a pity, but as long as demonoid is there I know there’s some quality to be had.
The community always is almost always wise to the fake & the unclean & dangerous.
It’s what was missing from the pirate bay, little or no community (despite the best efforts of some).
That’s the only place I ever had a ‘cease & desist’ letter come from.
August 31st, 2009
I have been using PG2 since I started using torrents, and have never received a letter. Highly recommended. Canada also has a lot of loopholes and laws centered around privacy and who has a right to demand what with or without a court order. Basically, since they passed anti-piracy laws in canada about 18 months ago, I have yet to hear about a single person being charged with them.
September 1st, 2009
True, it’s like that in the UK (for now) but our gov seems intent on making life easier for the ‘entertainment industry’.
It was pretty funny, my ISP contacted me, told me about the letter and said they weren’t interested in that sort of thing.
Like you say, no Court order, nothing doing.
I wouldn’t have minded but it turned out I d/l’d a really bad copy of Saw 5.
Which I replaced with a much better copy – that I still haven’t gotten around to watching!
I find myself collecting movies and never having enough time to see them all!
About 1000 now (200 in high def).
(oh, this may interest you, here’s a little gem I found on demonoid last week, ‘Dead Snow’ a recent Norwegian film – never seen any of their cinema before.
Cracking little film, very funny in places, very bloody.
Bit like they heard about COD5 & decided Nazi zombies would make a good movie. Recommended, if you can find it I’d also recommend it in high def – beautiful scenery)

RE POSTING THIS READ GET THE FACTS FROM THE KING OF GAMING ME.
Sony’s out for blood this holiday season Microsoft better be prepared for WAR.
And why that HELL are some people here still crying about the PS3 Blu-ray drive wow is pathetic give it up for god sakes no one gives a shit.
Let me see what to buy a Xbox for $300 extra features not included below but included at no extra cost on PlayStation 3.
without WiFi for Xbox $100
without Blu-ray no support but needed for games and movies Microsoft hates Sony.
without enormous hard drive upgrade for less then $90 60gb for Xbox $100 or 120gb for xbox $150 can you say rip off or what.
without exclusives other then like 4 Halo: OSDT i don’t count since is just a expansion pack so Microsoft can try steal more more idiots. They are no match for Sony when it comes to exclusives. Sony can eat Microsoft alive with all the PS3 exclusives which most are own by SCE which is awesome. Microsoft doesn’t even bother making games anymore.
without the ability to save your media without owning them or having to burn them or needing to have the USB flash drive connected. This is one of the stupidest thing Microsoft has ever done forcing you to use Windows Media Player 11 or Media Center to add your media on you hard drive on PS3 can add media from anywhere and anything no restriction whatsoever.
Still the Xbox 360 has problem and still takes way more electricity when using then the new PS3. Also most exclusives have to PS3. Sony lost way less good games.
Twitter Facebook WTF would Microsoft bother adding that junk is just making the Xbox NXE more bloated and confusing plus you need to have a gold membership to use how stupid is that. On PS3 you can use free via web browser. On PS3 you can even print you facebook or myspace pictures.
Microsoft has way too many restriction to use and the main menu is like a damn puzzle to use.
And since there’s no HD-DVD or Blu-ray Disc support most games are now coming on multiple DVD9 disc.
Who ever chooses Xbox 360 over PS3 now is a pure idiot.
PS3 SCREAMS value when you look at it is truly that amazing. All Xbox 360 got left is just multiplaform games to survive a little longer.
PlayStation 3 is gaming that’s why it was made future proof unlike Xbox 360 which extremely dated and less powerful then PlayStation 3.
Some of the new PS3 Upcoming exclusives coming out in 2009 and 2010 enjoy facts.
UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves
Quantum
ModNation Racers
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Final Fantasy XIV
MAG
Afrika
Agent
White Knight Chronicles
Gran Turismo 5
The Agency
God of War III
Demon’s Souls
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Heavy Rain
The Last Guardian
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Why that hell would any gamer use this junk Facebook, Twitter and Netflix to use any of that you gotta be a Xbox Live Gold member which goes for $50. Anyways you can use that on PS3 via web browser or using Linux. And Netflix you also gotta subscribe to Netflix to use it. Also Blu-ray Disc included on all PS3 and WiFi plus the ability to upgrade your hard drive up to 500GB for less then $90 No one in their right mind would bother buying a Wii for $50 dollars less when they can buy a real future proof next gen console the PS3 is just $299.99 now. Xbox WiFi $100 Live $50 120gb $150 Xbox is over priced with no

One game everyone seems to be forgetting that has some potential to sell tons with the new price point of the ps3, and if advertised well (doesn’t hold breath) is eye pet, which is out in November 17th for $40.

News Flash…
A drop in price causes more sales…
September 2nd, 2009
@ phranctoast,
I will be getting Eye Pet also on day one, Like I have said before I’m all about new IP’s, specially if they are innovative ones. I had a blast playing Eye of Judgment online (sadly enough, the game is great but it’s only good for online multiplayer).
I believe you like those unique games too, because I noticed you have Buzz! Quiz and not alot of ppl have it. New IP’s was what made the PS1 and PS2 so great. I’m also excited about Heavy Rain and Alan Wake , Last Gardian and Demon’s Souls because they are all new games offering unique gameplay and a fresh experience.
but there are always those old Franchise that will never going to get old like GT, GoW, Gears of War, GTA (even though I think its getting old IMO), etc.
September 2nd, 2009
I can’t see myself getting eye pet. I was just saying that it one shouldn’t underestimate its potential.
If I had kids it would be a great purchase.
September 2nd, 2009
well my girlfriend wants it so thats the primary reason im getting on day one, but over all a virtual pet looks kind of cool to me too
