Review: Halo 3: ODST worth the $60 for an expansion?
Halo 3: ODST takes a radical departure from the traditional Halo series by shifting the story completely away from the lime light. If you changed few things in the story, you might mistake ODST for another game outside the Halo franchise. With a short single player campaign mode and the famed Spartan missing, is Halo 3: ODST worth the hefty $60 price tag? Take the jump to find out.
Story
Halo 3: ODST is a side story that takes place between Halo 2 and Halo 3 in the Halo universe. You start out as a UNSC soldier in an Orbital Drop Ship Trooper squad that gets separated when a landing goes haywire. You will find yourself and the rest of the squad dropping somewhere in the open world of New Mombasa, Africa. You get separated from your squad and wake up to find help in the unlikeliest of allies in the beginning.
Since ODST takes place around the Halo 2 timeframe, the Covenant is still occupying Earth after the war broke out. The story is unraveled from the view points of each member of your squad. You start out controlling the lone rookie but you will then come across clues left by your squad mates that will take you into a flashback mission that took place several hours before.
The story is basic and really nothing to write home about as it’s fairly straight forward. However, where the game really shines is in its presentation.

Controls
The way you approach the gameplay in ODST is a bit different from any other Halo game. Instead of controlling a super-moon jumping Spartan, you are a regular Joe out there fighting every fight like his last. The ODST armor is weak and there is no regeneration so gamers will have to be extra careful not to jump into unnecessary firefights. There is also no dual-wielding so gamers will have to rely on conventional firing mechanics.
When hit by the enemy a few times the screen will start turning dark orange. It can impede your vision at times and cause some frustration as it will stay this color until you can get health. All of the mechanics are in place to make you think twice before taking on forces as there is the option to avoid them all together.

Firefight is a new mode in the game that really shines. The mode is basically like Horde mode from Gears of War 2 or Survival mode from Left 4 Dead, where you fight off wave after waves of enemies. The concept is simple and the implementation is well executed. The mode has Skulls which will change up an element of the gameplay, which could leave you handicapped.
You and three other players will be sharing the same life bar in Firefight. This will force everyone to give it their best as everyone is relying on each other to continue the fight. The only downside is the glaringly missing matchmaking, which means you will have to have a few friends handy at all times.

Visuals/Design
As I mentioned, gamers will have to approach ODST a bit differently from your average Halo game. There is some stealth elements in the game, and often times you will have to decide to avoid confrontation rather than run out guns blazing. The other twist to the game is the detective elements of ODST, where you will have to look for clues of your lost teammates.
As I indicated the story is average, but the way its told is what is great about ODST. The way the story is presented sets an atmosphere unlike any other Halo game. You really feel like you are alone in the open world of New Mombasa. Everything is dark and grimy with the mood is accented by the fantastic music that really conveys the feeling on loneliness.

There is a side graphics novel that can be found from the audio logs throughout the game. Piece these logs together to get Sadie’s tale, which will satisfy those wanting to learn more about the Halo lore.
The game looks different from Halo 3 despite the fact both games are running on the same engine. You can definitely tell that the Halo engine is starting to show its age. However, the brilliant guys at Bungie have managed to elevate the visuals by creating a unique dark atmosphere that makes the game look like something else entirely.
Wrap-up
Halo 3: ODST is an expansion or side-mission to the famed franchise; with the game clocking around six hours to complete. This is about half the gameplay time expected from your usual full retail offering. However, keep in mind the game wasn’t originally created to be a full retail experience. Bungie did package in another disc with just about every conceivable maps, modes, and DLC from Halo 3 to help justify the $60 price tag. The disc even comes with Forge so that you can customize your own maps, despite the tool’s limitations.

You can tell Bungie is gearing up to work on a different franchise than Halo, with their experimentation of mood, atmosphere and different gameplay styles within ODST. The game is different enough to the point where I can safely recommend Halo 3: ODST to non-Halo gamers and be confident that they won’t get lost in Halo lore.
For those owning all of the Halo 3 DLCs and maps, it may be a hard pill to swallow to throw down $60 for a game where you already own half the content. However, for newcomers to the franchise you will find a wealth of content to keep you occupied for a long time. For those who already own Halo 3 and all of the maps, you might want to hold off until the price drops to $30, but for those new to the series and looking for a solid FPS, look no further as Halo 3: ODST will meet your needs.

I really enjoyed this game, when I 1st put it on and seen the character animations it looked terrible, but after the intro, when you start to play the game it definitely gets better and better.
October 1st, 2009
The release of this game reminds me of that arrogant statement made by Sony before the PS3 came out. “People will get another job to afford the ps3″.
This is like Microsoft making half a game and saying….”It doesn’t matter.. out stupid fans will buy it since it’s Halo”

welcome back Phranc….

This may be the first time sitting in front of a PC since Friday. I can’t say I missed it. Damn Work..lol

were you on vacation?

Monday at the lawyers, Tuesday in the field, Wednesday I took a Vaca as I went to see the Yankees play KC on Tuesday night. Walk offs are great ways to win.

@Mike
On ODSt’s second disc (the one that contains all the Halo 3 maps) can you play the MP aspect of the game with ODST rules (little health, easier to kill) or are you limited to the Halo 3 spartan gametype where everyone is super human?
October 1st, 2009
I would wait for ODST to drop price. But that´s what I do for almost every game anyway.
What I don´t think is fair is what Capcom is doing with Street Fighter 4… I´m starting to have visions of SF2, SFA and SF3… There are DLC nowadays, how is that justified?
October 1st, 2009
@Akaro
because they (Capcom) been getting away with it since SF2
there are like 6 or 7 versions of SF2
3 versions of SF-EX
3 versions of SF3
4 versions of SF Alpha
see where they are going!
October 1st, 2009
Yes… I won´t argue with that. Sadly I always thought that tendency would stop thanks to DLC. But you are right: they keep getting away with it, why would they try anything else?
October 1st, 2009
Capcom stoped being original loooooong time ago.
resident evil 5 is a perfect example, same mechanics and gameplay as R.E. 4 but yet inferior…and updated graphics. (ohh co-op too…meh)
October 1st, 2009
I enjoyed RE5. Just not as much as RE4 or Dead Space.
October 1st, 2009
the game was good for a while, it didnt live up to the hype…..R.E. 4 was a way better resident evil game. R.E. 5 story was weak and it kind of ruin the franchise…(Wesker die, Sheva can suck a *i*K, Africa??? not scary, Chris on Steroid?, retarted bosses, zombies with guns?? really!!, the cool merchant was no where to be seen, AI was retarted, the Puzzles were boring and witn no creativity,etC)
October 1st, 2009
Yeah I played the game for a bit and I agree with Oldschool that the face of the characters looked terrible. but the game is great and yes I did swallow that pill because I did buy all the Halo 3 maps so the price was not that justifiable to me but I did it. I basically gave away my Halo 3 to another friend so we can play the multiplayer together. But the Firefight mode is great and a welcome addition but lack of Matchmaking does suck. Hopefully they can patch it in later.
October 1st, 2009
When I say the face of the characters looked terrible I’m talking about the cutsecenes in the beginning.
October 1st, 2009
@CAD
can you answer the question from me to Mike?
TY.
October 1st, 2009
fun game… skulls add a lot…. firefight is a time eater…. enjoyed the change in gameplay that comes from fighting as human instead of a Spartan….
$50 at the most…. $40 ideally….
the fun factor is high, but the story needs to be longer.
if they add d/l additional storylines, then MAYBE it may be worth $60, but the d/l had better be dirt-cheap…
October 1st, 2009
“$50 at the most…. $40 ideally…. ”
Amazon has it for $50 with a $10 gift card for your next game purchase.
So far two of the 360 fanboys that played it conclude it’s not worth the price.
All in all.. when ever I ripped this game that was the biggest point that I made. It’s nice to see that we can finally agree.
October 1st, 2009
phranc- it’s already dropping in price. toys r us have a $20 gift card with a purchase of halo odst at $60…
October 1st, 2009
$40 is easier to swallow. I think I’ll buy Assassins Creed 2 due to that $10 gift card at Amazon as well. I plan on picking up plenty of games this upcoming season and any help is appreciated.
October 1st, 2009
The Multiplayer is the same as Halo 3. It works fine the way it is. There is no need to change it. Everyone is equal anyway. That not so Master Cheif feeling of vulnerability is only needed in the campaign.
October 1st, 2009
all that sounds like a DLC to me…no need to sell it for $60
October 1st, 2009
60 bucks to own it in the first few weeks. Down to $40 already. $20 premium for immediate access, capitalism at work, imo. Especially considering that 2 mil+ sold in what, the first 24h? There is some extra cost in filling the sales channel so effectively, probably not $20 per copy, but I personally don’t see any big ethical issue here.
The cost of getting Halo 3 + DLC is less than $40 (correct me if I am wrong), but the difference can be attributed to the new single player gameplay. Meh. Non issue.
October 1st, 2009
@ CAD
Thats ashame. I was under the impression you would be able to fight each other as the ODST troopers. More realistic fighting (COD 4) with squads would have been a nice addition to the old Halo 3 maps. oh well.
How much do you think this would be worth to you as DLC CAD?
ODST campaign.
3 new Halo 3 maps
and Firfight mode.
October 1st, 2009
Jofa.
It’s only really an issue to the many many Halo fans that already have that stuff.
ODST is worth it if you are brand new to Halo. Although they should have included the whole Halo 3 campaign on the second disc as well. Dumping stuff that most people have onto an extra disc to bring the value up so you can charge $60 is a dickhole move.
October 1st, 2009
Halo 3 + a $20 DLC should get you all that stuff
October 1st, 2009
Thats ashame. I was under the impression you would be able to fight each other as the ODST troopers.
I don’t see what the problem is. You get to create your own character and symbol and choose your colour scheme and helmet so each can have an identy on it’s own. It’s still the same thing.
October 1st, 2009
That stuff is just superficial modifications. I mean core gameplay.
All in all, it probably wouldn’t work out to well with maps designed for superhuman Spartans as opposed to the more human like ODST’s.
October 1st, 2009
@Roca.
$20 would have been more than worth it. Hell I paid that much for Quest for Booty and that was only 5-6 hours long and only SP.
October 1st, 2009
Quest for Booty should have also been a $5-10 DLC. I skipped quest for booty, waiting for it to get a price cut still
October 1st, 2009
It would be nice if Quest for Booty was included on the Crack in Time disc. Hey it may and they might not have announced it yet..
October 1st, 2009
I hope soo!!
DAMN…That’s another game I need to get. Im going to have a busy holyday season! Ninja Gaiden this week, GT PSP today, Demon’s Souls next week, Uncharted 2 the week after, and R&C 2 weeks after U2
October 1st, 2009
I’m waiting on NGS2. Like NGS I think it will drop in price real fast and I’ll pick it up discounted. Hey…gotta save somehow. This Holiday will be nuts!!!!
October 1st, 2009
I know but I got the Collectors Edition for $69.99
I could hold on to that…I know you wont find those a couple weeks from now
-An official soundtrack with over 30 tracks
-a 80-page book including:
“The Vampire War”:
-A 30-page Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 prologue comic written and designed by Team NINJA

The only collectors addition I bought for any game (aside from the GOW one coming out soon) was Unreal Tournament 2004. I bough that as it had all the videos on map creation included. I made a decent CTF map.
October 1st, 2009
Collectors editions are just plain stupid. You get a bunch of things that you will never use. After Gear of War 2 came out with the Collectors Edition including a code for the gold lancer, at first I thought it was stupid but I started to realize that at least it is something that I can actually use that others that did not buy the collectors edition do not have. It may be digital but at least it does not become a dust collector. I wish more companies would do this as it just makes more sense.
October 1st, 2009
Ill have you know I plan to use the MW2 nightvision gear to ogle women wearing thing tops.
I’m just kidding….. Cold day in hell before I’d buy the collectors edition of anything…
October 1st, 2009
*thin tops
October 1st, 2009
Oh I forget that part of the value of odst is also being able to play halo reach beta when it comes out. If that counts for anything.
October 1st, 2009
Well actually I would have to say that most FPS only offer a 6 hour campaign, plus the standard cookie cutter online modes. ODST seems as complete as COD or any other FPS out there.
I’m not condoning 6 hour campaigns, in fact I’m boycotting FPS for the rest of this gen. Fuck death match. It was exciting for the first 100 games I plyed that offered it. But if every game has it, it’s just boring and repetitive.
For $65 I want a full, flushed out story and characters…. Bioshock, or FallOut 3 are good examples of FPS I like.
/end rant
October 2nd, 2009
I got the collectors edition of Fallout 3 because it came with a bobble head and it was $40 cheaper then the game alone.
I wish I could play the Halo 3 games.
Dam MS for making good games and crappy hardware!
October 2nd, 2009
Resistance: Fall of Man is the only FPS with a good amount of play time….that game took forever to end.
Bad Company also has a pretty good single player campaign
October 2nd, 2009
Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed every FPS I’ve played… and I like playing online, but don’t need to own 10 games that are all essentially the same thing.
I’ve been loving the Uncharted 2 beta though. I’ve taken a break from my Uncharted crushing game, and I’ve been playing the beta every night. We should get a gamerblorge party together.
October 2nd, 2009
the U2 horde mode is amazing
October 2nd, 2009
Barnabe,
I might be free to play some Uncharted tonight. Send me a PSN message.
-Arvis
October 2nd, 2009
@ Kev: ‘enjoyed the change in gameplay that comes from fighting as human instead of a Spartan’
-LMFAO! seriously? its exactly the same, which is a good thing anyway. But how is the gameplay much different? he looks the same as a Spartan. He just can’t jump as high and has health now lol. Typical Xbox Fanboy thing to say.
October 2nd, 2009
Kev cannot get any lower now
October 2nd, 2009
Arvis, Sounds like fun. I might have to entertain the girlfriend tonight, so i might not have the opportunity. I will send an invite when I do have some free time though.
October 2nd, 2009
Halo needs a classes based squad gameplay change.
I thought thats was what ODST was going to be originally.
October 3rd, 2009
Why do you sony fanboys even care?
October 3rd, 2009
because you were one of the first xbot saying that ODST was going to bring the Halo franchise to the next level…
October 3rd, 2009
No I said that it would crush killzones sales………..which it did………….in a day lol
October 3rd, 2009
sooo…..KZ2 still scored better.
I only need one copy of the game CON!
October 3rd, 2009
@CON
“Why do you sony fanboys even care?”
Hahaha, *holds sides* hahahahhaha, *wipes tears off face* hahahahaha.
Good one. That was a joke right? As if the 360 fanboys ever miss a chance to throw sales (don’t care) or attach rate (again, don’t care) as proof of 360 superiority.
Sleep in it, you made it.
October 3rd, 2009
@ JofaMang: LMFAO loving your comment!
He won’t sleep in it mate, he’ll do the Xbot thing and spit his dummy out and take a shit on the Uncharted 2 shelf in stores, the day of it’s release lol.
October 4th, 2009
now that sounds like a plan
October 4th, 2009
Really guys Killzone has nothing on Halo. Besides pretty graphics that is about it. They do nothing to expand on a FPS and it’s just your basic shooter with only one enemy to kill throughout the whole game and a weak control system. I showed you guy the Killzone vs Gears and Halo videos and the comparison just makes Killzone look bland in comparison. It can score whatever it want but really in the end the score means nothing. For example Gears scored better then Gears 2 but just 1 trip backwards and you realize Gears 2 is way better because the additions make the first one feel like it’s missing something.
October 4th, 2009
sure CAD, you have played killzone 2 enough to come up with that judgment
October 4th, 2009
I really enjoyed KZ2, the online was very well developed and fun as hell. That said, I liked R2 more overall. I am one of those people that got burned out on CoD4, and am really really selective of my FPS involvement.
MAG beta is winning me over atm, heh.
October 4th, 2009
@ CAD
Halo is a better FPS …BUT Killzone 2 is easily the most advanced and realistic shooter ever. Weak control system? Just realistic movements mate, is it because he don’t jump 50 meters in the air? lol. K2 is a really intense game and you say 1 type of bad guy in K2? you ain’t played it much and how many different bad guys in Halo are their? Brutes and Flood …no one even likes the Flood!!!
Now i admit Halo is the better game but your just coming out with typical Fanboyism talk.
October 5th, 2009
I like Killzone realistic feeling better than halo.
I really enjoyed Resistance 1 though…the gray touch the dev gave the game fit perfectly. R2 was a bit too colorful if you ask me. COD wins with its easy control and fast pace action. KZ2 more strategy and better online modes than any other FPS
October 5th, 2009
oldschool I know I’m a fanboy but realize that my response is to Roca and that crap that usually comes out his mouth. You wanna call me a Fanboy but you fail to recognize that Roca is one to but it’s OK for him to bash all over Microsoft games but if I say something it’s a problem. Oldschool pay attention to the convo before you start talking crap.
Yes I said weak control system. Why havr triggers if your not going to use them? Sony implemented the triggers on their controllers and most developers don’t even use them because they are shit. Not useing Triggers makes it awkward when your use to having a control scheme that is set up right. The cover system sucks. Play one game of Gears and you will realize how stupid Killzones cover system is. It was a nice try but the controls ruin it. now on to realism. Of course Killzone is more real it uses real guns where Halo is more sci-fi. Halo is still the better game and so is Gears. When your use to excellent games, Killzone just comes off as small fry in the FPS genre. The sales definately say so.
October 5th, 2009
@ CAD: I’ve played Gears you idiot, I’ve got them both and they are great, your going on like i’m a Sony fanboy when i’m not, I love both consoles. But I only play the 360 for Halo and Gears really, they ain’t got that many exclusives that catch my attention. Mass Effect was ok and Fable 2 was good for a few days but theirs nothing else I can think of TBH.
And the cover system in K2 is a bit wank i agree and stop comparing Gears to them both! It’s a 3rd person not a 1st, different game mate.
October 5th, 2009
@CAD
Triggers? on a dual shock?
I haven’t seen those? they are kind of like a pedal. great for racing games
the cover system a first to the FPS genre and it wasnt that bad. Uncharted cover system is 10 times better than Gears if you didnt know. and they are both 3rd person games. and you are the only fanboy who is mad a Sony because you never got a PS2 and you missed all the great games from last gen. I though you said you to back catalog games?/
October 5th, 2009
Hey Roca I agree the triggers are awesome for a racing game
But i weren’t keen on the cover to K2, it involved holding too many buttons down at the same time, that don’t mean that K2 is too me one of the best games out there
But nothing on this planet can or ever will top MGS4, to me that games was as good as it will ever get, fucking amazing! it needs Trophies! lol
October 5th, 2009
I prefer the LI and R1 to triggers.. Even the triggers on the 360 controller. I’d also point out that the less resistance in the ps3 controller for their L1 and R1 “trigger” make for more accurate shots especially when sniping.
I talked to a guy at work about ODST, and he was very upset about the length of the game. He’s off the return it while he can still get something from gamestop. Well.. can’t say I didn’t call it. Even the most adamant fanboys admit that’s its just not worth the price.
I don’t know what this says for the mind set of 360 users when they’ll buy into this shit. You have CON here bragging about sales for a partial game. Well. Congratulations.. All this proves is the term Xbot was a well thought out term for the legions of stupid fans out there waiting to lap up anything Halo from the MS cock.
October 5th, 2009
ohh yeah, MGS4 one of the best game (and cinematic experience) you will ever play. I hope that if they add trophies wont be as hard as the emblem the have in the game. (ex. beat the game on the hardest dificulty, no alerts, no kill, within 5 hrs)
what kind of BS is that…thats almost impossible.
but yeah the R2/L2 are perfect for racing games…I prefer R1 for shooters
October 5th, 2009
@ Phranctoast
hahaha…..awesome! some of them will admit it was a rip-off….and some of them wont (CADCON)
October 5th, 2009
MGS 4 was not a game it was a movie. LOL
October 5th, 2009
Halo ODST was not a game…it was a $60 Demo/expansion. RFLMAOOOOOOOOOO
October 5th, 2009
I believe even CAD knows it was a rip-off.
I’m back to replaying Uncharted to get myself all ready for next week!
My prediction…. Uncharted 2.. Game Of The Year.
still at 97% Metacritic..
@CAD.
do you know anyone with a PS3 so you’re not left in the cold when this awesomeness comes out next week?
October 5th, 2009
No one should miss this game.
h**p://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-uncharted-2/57258
October 5th, 2009
MGS4 was a movie? and would you say that if it was an 360 Exclusive? No I don’t think so somehow… Pure Xbot, Play and complete it then say that, if you don’t like the movies then skip em, you have that option or don’t you know how to figure that out? lol
October 5th, 2009
Roca talking more shit I see. Go read what I wrote in the begining before you go on saying people won’t admit it was a waste. Really it is not that long but I’m still enjoying the game and it’s not about the campaign it more about the multiplayer which is why Halo 3 is the #1 game on Live. The new firefight mode is awesome and when Halo Reach beta comes it is instant access for those who own the game so while the campaing is 6 hours ther is many hours of multiplayer to enjoy. I don’t expect you to undestand because yous system is not a true online console where everything is wraped around Live but your consoles online features are just an after thought.
October 5th, 2009
Game of the Year 2008 = MGS4.
*Game* of the year CAD, not Movie of the Year. (lol desperate fanboy)
October 5th, 2009
oldschool did I not admit that the price tag on ODST is a bit of a rip off and that is exclusive is it not. dude I call games the way I see them. I’m a fanboy but I’m a fair Fanboy. If I don’t like the game I will say it no matter what system. I said that unchartered look good but I guess that does not count by your standards. Oldschool go sell your 360 because your obviously a real PS3 fanboy at heart.
October 5th, 2009
oh please CAD…you know you can get all the maps for way less than $60. I was into the whole online shooter at the begining of this gen, when there wasnt that many great single player games. but now I got Batman AA, U2 (and its multiplayer is top notch), Demon’s Souls, and more.
Warhawk was a online only game, but Sony didnt charge (or even waste time on making a forgettable campaign) $60…Warhawk was $40. admit it, it was a rip-off
October 5th, 2009
MGS was not game of the year you wish. Orange Box was game of the year back then and it’s still a movie staring solid snake walking around like he has got a cock up his ass. Sorry that Movie was slow and it sucked. Ok truth is I have no patience for stealth games. But I think Hitman is a better stealth game.
October 5th, 2009
I found MGS4’s biggest problem was that they veered away from the stealth game a bit to cater to the ADD fps crowd. Of course you could tackle a level with stealth still, but the option to run and gun was in there and the temptation to use it when you really didn’t feel like being quiet was strong.
MgS4 was a lot of video, but you know that before hand, and if you don’t care for story you skip it.
I think CAD admitted enough that ODST was not worth it for him. Maybe someone new to Halo could benefit from the added maps, but not CAD. You should have waited a week bro. The price dropped quicker than a dress at an after prom party.
October 5th, 2009
CAD: “Orange Box was game of the year back then”
you can’t be serious???? MGS4 and LBP got the most GOTY from many website in 2008. Fallout 3, GTA4 and Gears came close but Orange Box…really? that is just fanboysm at its best.
October 5th, 2009
the only rip off for Halo ODST is if you owned Halo 3 and bought all the Maps other from that the price is fine. So It is up to each individual as to what the value is to you but I Dont care because I love the halo series and I Still like this game so stop hating because your looking like a desperate fanboy who wish he could play halo. Just admit it that is why your all over this thread.
October 5th, 2009
I call Orange Box which was game of the year and Im called a fanboy for a multiplatform game. LOL Roca your classic. How about you answer the question about what you do at ststestreet.
October 5th, 2009
I don’t know how The OB could be considered a Game of the Year.
Sure.. HL2 and all it’s two parts are very good. Portal was good for a bit. Team Fortress sucked. I think the OB falls into the ODST category a bit.
It has a lot of value on stuff a majority own or already played..
When you think about it. Team Fortress, Portal, and Episode 2 were the only thing new in there. That should hardly even get a nod for consideration in the GOTY category.
oh.. Orange box came out in 07′. It shouldn’t be considered a candidate in GOTY for 08′
October 5th, 2009
Orange Box was not near being GOTY ok.
how about you going to http://www.statestreet.com and see what the company is about, mayb that why you will stop being noisy and caring about where I work. if you care that much and want some proof just give you email address and will you send you a confirmation through my personal corporate email (which will be name@statestreet.com) and Can also paste a pic of our company “Intranet” website (I hope you know what that is). untill then why dont you tell me why do you even care? I dont be asking you what you do at Burger King

Orange Box was not near being GOTY ok.
how about you going to h**p://www.statestreet.com and see what the company is about, mayb that why you will stop being noisy and caring about where I work. if you care that much and want some proof just give you email address and will you send you a confirmation through my personal corporate email (which will be “name @ statestreet com”) and Can also paste a pic of our company “Intranet” website (I hope you know what that is). untill then why dont you tell me why do you even care? I dont be asking you what you do at Burger King
October 5th, 2009
and GOTY 2007 was/were Bioshock (360) and CoD 4. depending on what website you are looking at
October 5th, 2009
Hey – Don’t insult burger king.
Someone has to make my Bacon Double Cheeseburgers & Poutine. Fucker.
October 5th, 2009
LMAOOO…I guess that would be CAD
October 5th, 2009
I thought CAD was a fluffer.
October 5th, 2009
ok maybe it was 2007 that orange box got it but 2008 was fallout 3
Roca I know what state street is I don’t need you to tell me what they do but it was you who said that you work there and when I askes what you do you ignored me and Happy and still you cannot tell me. I don’t need an email address to prove anything all I asked for was a job description because I know your full of so much shit I called you on it.
October 5th, 2009
MGS4 was a stealth game depending on how you played it, I went through guns blazing and stealth. Yes CAD you did admit that Uncharted looks good but then you went ahead and said MGS4 is slow and shit. I’m not a Fanboy of any console I just like to see if people bite and your not as bad as most CAD you are fairer than most, just once in a while you’ll say something to change my mine, like: ‘MGS 4 was not a game it was a movie’ lol
And The Orange Box is soooo fucking good! lol
October 5th, 2009
How can any of you guys knock the OB??? It is easily one of the must have games of the decade. HL2, Episodes and portal for a pretty cheap price, that was a must for any true gamer.
October 5th, 2009
Sure it was CON.
the only problem was I already played half life 2 and episode 1.
October 5th, 2009
Any idea when Episode 3 is due? I’m dying to play it!
October 6th, 2009
Bleh, half life 2 is overrated.
The first was amazing, the second (and the subsequent episodes – not so much). Its a shame it got delayed otherwise I may think more of it, but when it finally hit it seemed a little dated with the exception of the physics gun.
Portal was neat tho.
October 6th, 2009
CAD,
I dont come to gamer.blorge website to talk about work. it is not my problem that you and happy care that much about state street. I just happen to work for the company! what are you going to gain when I tell you my job description? you know if I was lying about my job I could just google that stuff or go to monster..com. but like I said if you are so desperately concern my corporate email address will always be there (you cant make that up, as somebody will just google a jop description a pretend they work for a company)
October 6th, 2009
Fallout was not Game of the Year 2008.
LBP got the most GOTY awards, follow by MGS4, the GTA4
October 6th, 2009
MGS4 best game ever not movie. oh that makes me very angry and kittens. Especially kittens with spikes.
October 6th, 2009
Oldschool Trust me I don’t intentially try to bash but it’s people like Roca that provoke me to say something ignorant. I do prefer the 360 but I’m not that hatefull towards the PS3 in reality but it’s the stupid comments that just get to me that make me say the worst. It’s basically retaliation.
October 6th, 2009
What ever Roca, I’m just calling you out because most times you lie about things and that one was classic. Just like the Microsoft insider emoployee with a pic form walmat. LOL Well I guess it’s a difficult answer because there is no way Statestreet would hire idiots and the way you come across it’s a no brainer that your a highschooler. if you actually came across as an adult maybe I would believe you.
October 6th, 2009
Oldschool – actually, the fact you can’t throw grenades 100 feet, fall damage occurs, slower walking, faster vehicles, better AI from squadmates, diffferent armor, lack of powershields, better graphics, new game modes, better audio and interesting story are just a few things that are NOT “exactly the same” from previous halo games. Typical sony fanboy thing to say. Jealousy sucks. lmao.
Btw; there’s Brutes, Covenant (Grunts, Elites, Hunters, Snipers, Buggers) and Flood in halo games. Not just “brutes and flood”, like you claim.
If you truly think that Guerrilla can produce a better shooter than Bungie or Cliffy B, you’re a bigger fanboy than I thought. They’ve been trying for almost 8 years to create a “halo killer”…still hasn’t happened…. Not even close.
Killzone 2 even failed to spur any significant ps3 sales as was hyped by sony and you fanboys for a year before the ps3 even launched. Pathetic. Then again, what fun is a shooter without a controller that rumbles? Early ps3 had no rumble feature. …bleh….
Meanwhile, Halo games continue to sell to record levels, the 360 continues to outsell the ps3, and HALO:ODST (while not really worth $60 in most opinions) is proving to be a fun game and welcomed addition to the Halo universe.
It’s funny when you consider you sony fanboys actually think you know more than the umpteen millions of gamers playing hundred of millions of hours of online games in Halo. Yep..”overrated”…millions are wrong…only you and your 3 bitter little fanboy friends are right. Lmao….
How silly would we look if we claimed “World of Warcraft is overrated and sucks. Oblivion is the much better RPG”. It would sound pretty hollow. Kinda like when you sony fanboys claim the same things about Halo. It’s an awesome franchise. Deal with it or buy a 360.
October 6th, 2009
Kev you just proved to me how stupid you are, you obviously only read one single line of my comment and not the rest, i said Halo is the better shooter, I’ve got ALL the Halo games, so how can i be jealous? It don’t make sense, you just made yourself look stupid… again, shock.
And CAD I actually like you because you call yourself a Fanboy but your not blind like a fanboy, you call it like you see it and don’t chat shit like some people (Kev, Andrew_DoubleShit) Kev just gives 360 fanboys a bad name lol.
Also I really enjoyed ODST, it seemed as long as Halo 4, even tho that weren’t exactly long it was still good, but not ‘The greatest thing ever since sliced bread’
Kev stop calling everyone a fanboy but yourself, Troll Troll Troll
All in agreement say: aye
October 6th, 2009
Aye! Kevs a Troll
October 6th, 2009
And I meant Halo 3
October 6th, 2009
It’s great we have kev here to let us all know what our opinion should be.
October 6th, 2009
CAD
your just hating because you cant afford a PS3, could not afford a PS3 and right now you can even afford games with your “just over the minimun wage” salary. I just told you, jod description doesnt mean anything..but to put it in simple words for your slow ass…I basically sit in front of a Computer from 8am-4pm. and This is why I come to this website becuase it is the only gaming website that isnt blocked. if you want more prove than that come to State Street Boston, or if you know somebody who works in the company tell them to look me up in the outlook data base. you are just pathetic, since you have nothing agaisnt the PS3 right (with its low price and awesome library) you start digging at ppl’s personal life.
October 6th, 2009
Kev: “It’s funny when you consider you sony fanboys actually think you know more than the umpteen millions of gamers playing hundred of millions of hours of online games in Halo. Yep..”overrated”…millions are wrong…only you and your 3 bitter little fanboy friends are right. Lmao….”
when there is nothing to play, ppl will pay $60 for a $30-$40 dollar expansion
October 6th, 2009
Leave Oblivion alone Kev!
October 6th, 2009
Roca is it that hard for you to say I do this at statestreet. You know why it’s so hard because your lying. I told you I work in the industry so it won’t be hard for me to tell if your lying or not. I guess you rather me think of you as a liar.
Oh and now I can’t afford a PS3 and I’m on minimum wage. Right!!!! Your childness makes you look even stupider which is why I know you can’t answer my question. It’s more like I don’t want to own a PS3. Try to comprehend that Roca.
October 6th, 2009
“when there is nothing to play, ppl will pay $60 for a $30-$40 dollar expansion”
Yet the 360 Library is bigger. The one year that the PS3 has games since it was released and you make it seem like the 360 never had games. The way I see it, go ahead and bring all your games out now in a recession because they definately don’t/won’t sell well.
October 6th, 2009
ROCA – so far the 360 has a higher attach ratio of games sold to consoles sold. Much more so than the ps3. “nothing to play” on the 360? Apparently, lady, you are a liar.
Oldschool – “Also I really enjoyed ODST, it seemed as long as Halo 4”
Really?…Halo 4?… Lmao…. Classic…!!! Begone sonyboy..
Phranc – way to add another witty, on-topic, quote…oh wait….nevermind..lmao…
SW – I’m a big fan of Bethesda’s.
October 6th, 2009
ROCA it seems suspicious you can’t answer a simple question by CAD.
October 6th, 2009
Kev, Three words: Typo-you-retard.
Your the little jealous fanboy who’s bitter that your mummy won’t buy you another console and your daddy touched you as a child.
I have both, I’m happy with both. Your a sad little lonely fanboy with daddy issues.
October 7th, 2009
I will tell you what I do in simple words as I CANNOT get into details because what I do is confidential (CAD , if you work in the Industry like you say you definately know this)
I process incoming AutoSys Jobs request, i also build AutoSys jobs. I mostly use “putty” running on a Unix server.
It doesnt say much but that’s what I do CAD.
soo you work in the industry? where do you work again?
CON mind your business and hop off CAD’s nuts. Havent you realized most of us dont even pay attention to you retarted claims/comments.
October 7th, 2009
@kev
“the 360 continues to outsell the ps3, ”
Do you still believe this? So far we’ve been getting numbers from all over the world that show otherwise. The NPD numbers for September should be out by the end of the week.
October 7th, 2009
So basically your in IT. Hard to believe but OK.
I work for TD Waterhouse.
October 7th, 2009
I was going to move to the investment department but I like what I do here and the work environment is way more flexible. Basically I am my own boss
I’m planning to go back to college and do something different though, but I’m still undecided.
October 7th, 2009
CAD he could be telling the truth. IT folk are notoriously sad and immature
October 7th, 2009
IT involves many things CON, and SAD and Immature are not one of them.
October 7th, 2009
So if your in IT why can’t you bypass all the blocked sites at your company?
October 7th, 2009
haha you must be kidding right?
you really dont know how tight the network security of the company is. they monitor everything that comes in and out of the network. one time I downloaded the fireFox browser. and the next day I got an email saying that FireFox was not an StateStreet approved application, and they told me to uninstall it. I cant access my gmail, my hotmail or any other Web-based E-mail because it can be used to divulge confidential information.
I even have to ask for access to saved files on a specific drive.
I do AutoSys work (server-related), network security is a whole different thing.
and Remember IT is not just one thing. it spreads into many different branches/areas.
what do you do for work CAD, IT?
October 7th, 2009
set your home PC up as a proxy and go through that..
lol… who am I kiding..I’m still not doing that.
October 7th, 2009
No I’m in the back office. I basically look after all the Deposits and Withdrawal of Physical certificates for all of Canada.
October 7th, 2009
why did they not just uninstall firefox themselves?
October 20th, 2009
It’ll be a COLD day in hell before I buy Halo 3 STD.
