Epic Mickey to be the next GTA-like open world fantasy game
Scant details about a huge Disney undertaking have been rumbling around the video game industry for quite some time. The game has been called Epic Mickey and is said to be massive in size. Some clues and speculation about the game have been circulating the Web indicating a steampunk fantasy open world.
Gameinformer teased Epic Mickey in the current issue by showing next issue’s front cover art. The graphics shows what looks like the silhouette of Mickey Mouse in an artistic style. The clue that gave it away that its Mickey Mouse is the copyright “Disney” in small print on the page.

The game is said to be developed by Warren Spector, the creative mind behind Deus Ex, which is a popular hybrid FPS/RPG game. Some concept images Epic Mickey were leaked onto the Web, depicting a distinctly dark steampunk-style. There is a great deal of speculation that Epic Mickey will be a massive open world sandbox game similar to that of Grand Theft Auto.
The idea sounds fantastic as I can already imagine being immersed in a Disney inspired Alice in Wonderland-like fantasy world. Imagine a world where you can roam and travel and interact with well known Disney characters. Also, given that the developer’s past work has been a little darker then what Disney is used to, chances are that the game will be targeting a more mature audience despite the subject matter.
Apparently, Gameinformer has an exclusive interview with the developers in the upcoming issue. Currently, there are some clues that this game will be coming out on the Wii but it is not clear if the title will hit the PS3 and Xbox 360. Disney Interactive Studios have released games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the past such as Pure. Stay tuned for more information about this top secret title.

If the game has some kind of ‘last stand’ scene where hordes of Disney characters go down fighting in slow motion – I’m in.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to see Donald Duck get impaled by some kind of piston with a spear on the end.

If this game is for wii only then the graphics will not look near as good or cool as the concept art. Too bad mickey could use another good game.
