White Knight Chronicles – most advanced online system on consoles ever
White Knight Chronicles is considered by many to be the Holy Grail to bridging MMOs and standard games on the home consoles. White Knight Chronicles has a single player story campaign and an online portion that offers gameplay similar to an MMO, all on a standard online service.
According to the Sony blog, Level-5 talked in detail about the online portion of White Knight Chronicles (WKC) at the Tokyo Game Show. WKC has been out in Japan for some time now and Level-5 recently apologized for taking so long to bring the highly anticipated title overseas to Europe and North America.
Level-5 developers indicated that the reason why its taking so long to bring the game overseas is due to its uniquely complex online component. For those that may not be familiar with the title, WKC is a full blown single-player RPG experience with a robust online mode as well. The online mode has attracted a bit of attention from gamers due to its unique offering.

RPGs rarely have an online mode unlike FPS and other action genres. However, Level-5 created three distinctive online components in addition the to single player and co-op modes – GeoNet, Georama, and Subquests. All three of these components come together to deliver an online community never seen before on consoles.
Georama allows you to create your own virtual “HomeTown” within the world of WKC. You can drop in buildings, land, trees, grass, fountains, windmills and even unique pixel art in your town. There is a selection of different land types such as plains, desert and wilderness. You can also populate your town with NPCs from the story mode campaign. The way you get NPCs to move into your town is by recruiting them to live in your town. The NPCs will have jobs that will also dynamically evolve and change the town. You can also drop in shops where you or other visitors can purchase weapons and equipments.

Up to 12 live players can populate a Georama and each player will be able to create as many as 20 Georamas. You could theoretically populate the town you create with up to 240 players allowing them to use it as a lobby before starting their quest.
GeoNet is a social networking service available to everyone who owns WKC. You can launch GeoNet in-game like a hub and create a customized homepage and link to other online users. You can also create a blog and messageboard to interact with other live players. Imagine visiting another user’s town and hitting their GeoNet site like a town bulletin board.

The Subquests offer a unique set of quests for you and your party to take on in the world of WKC besides playing through the story campaign. The game will come with 50 subquests and additional quests will be added via online after launch.
In addition to full voice chat capability, the game will also feature Rogue Galaxy’s Live Talk feature. This technology allows all NPCs to make comments that are contextual to what is happening in the game.

I have to admit I am getting extremely excited about White Knight Chronicles, which is set to launch overseas in spring 2010. The fact that Level-5 can keep cranking out Subquests ensures that gamers will be able to play WKC for a very long time even after beating the story mode with friends or alone. Who knows, may be we will build a Blorge town in Georama for weary travelers to visit and shop before heading out on a new quest.

White Knight Chronicles is a day one for me.

Yeah, the innovative next gen of RPG is upon us. I never liked the outdoors much, anyway.
I like the new interface. Not strongly, but it doesn’t bug me.

I like it. It looks clean, bright, and modern.
Ok so funny story about my 360. Just to recap.. my gf gave me hers, because she moved in with a roommate who already had a 360… her roommate’s 360 suffered a RROD so she took her’s back.

@BJ
my brothers friend just moved into their house and he picked up a ps3 slim after his 360 RROD for the second time. The first one was covered under the 3 year warranty but this last one wasn’t so it was the straw that broke the camels back. He was a die hard MS fanboy who I got to witness the shit talk go from a Sony brand to a MS brand product. Kind of funny.

looks like it is that time of the year (when a massive amount of 360 start dying). my friend just got his repaired last monday, it took MS 3 weeks to send it back

The new look is buggy.
For instance the footer I squished to the left of the screen. And links in the tabs at the top are not there.(blorge tech windows ect..)
This game looks good but..

This was the second time it died. I think it’s still covered under the warranty. She said she would give it back to me after they get the other one fixed.
In all honesty, I wasn’t really playing it. I’ve been playing the demo for Uncharted 2, which is finally being released next week. So no worries.

Didn’t this game do “aight” in Japan? Why are we wetting our pants so much over this title?
Plus gameplay looks like ass. Plus there isn’t even a US release date announced. More reason to say “who the shit cares?”
