Naughty Dog promises Uncharted 2 DLC
Uncharted 2 is currently selling like hotcakes after receiving generally very favorable reviews. So it’s no real surprise to learn that Naughty Dog is already working on DLC, both free and paid-for. And it’ll start to appear on PSN for download before the year is out.
It seemed clear that Uncharted 2 would succeed from the moment the first reviews started trickling in. And the release of the PS3 Slim and consequent drop on price for the hardware also played into the hands of the game’s developer Naughty Dog. But in an interview with IndustryGamers yesterday, creative director Amy Hennig claimed sales were “exceeding expectations.”
She also revealed plans for Uncharted 2 DLC, some of which will be available in the next two months:
We’re working on that now, and what we’re prepared to say is that there will be DLC available before the end of the year. Without going into specifics, it’ll involve new maps, new characters, things like that. Some of it will be free of charge and some of it will be purchasable. We’ve got a lot of people on the team working on this stuff, some really cool stuff that people will be excited about. So we’re definitely taking it very seriously.
It was bound to happen but it’s still good to hear confirmation from the horse’s mouth. So to speak. The free DLC is likely to be an instant download for all owners who have finished the game and want to expand it in some way. And I’m guessing the paid DLC will also fly off the (virtual) shelves when it makes an appearance. What type of DLC would you like to see most?

DLC free and paid awesome. This one of the best PS3 exclusives no doubt until God of War and the others come LoL. Sony got MAG my most wanted. This game is selling really good.

Good to hear that they are making DLC, can’t wait, I just don’t want it to end. I’m pretty positive that it isn’t just stuff on the disk locked out, like some gaming companies are trying on us.
Just got the platinum, have to say that it is the best PS3 exclusive to date (much more accessible than MGS4, unless you are a fan of the series). Hell, the best game this generation. Never even dug into the online.
I’ll just let the PS3 fanboys gloat and gloat about how good their system is doing. The Xbox fanboys did it when the PS3 sucked. Favoritism doesn’t get you anywhere. The Xbox had its years, PS3 is having its, maybe they will even out and the Xbox will take 2011 once Natal is out. Who knows. I just know that only multi-console owners get to experience the good years on both consoles.
I only have one complaint: the game was terribly easy for me. Beat the final boss on the 2-3 try on Crushing. Easier than Drakes Fortune, probably because there are less stretched-out gunfights, focusing on cinema and pacing, making the game fuller. Every shooter is a walk in the park after I beat Killzone 2 on Elite. Now that is what I call brutal.

13 plats?! Man, I’ve only got 2, both from Uncharted games. Then again, I only got my PS3 in April I believe, got 10 or so games. All of them are AAA PS3 exclusives. I will get MW2, but PS3 exclusives really appeal to me. I could get the inFAMOUS platinum if I really wanted, but I won’t even bother running around for blast shards. Someday, maybe.
The last level on KZ2 elite was a real pain. Took several sessions of increasing anger, followed by a little bit of a break, then more pain. I was pretty proud once it was over with. I’m getting increasingly better at online games, I’m developing that third sense of knowing where the enemies are. Got that from Uncharted 2.

Uh oh. Third sense? SIXTH SENSE DAMNIT… I just made that mistake yesterday too. SIXTH SENSE… I DON’T NEED TO DEVELOP SMELL FOR ONLINE GAMING… (although my sense of smell is rather keen. My eyesight is horrible, I use -4.25 and -3.50 strength contacts. That is what I get for sitting 6 inches from the T.V. as a child).

No one wants the game to end is too awesome i like how Naughty Dog toked the same approach as Insomniac Games with Co-Op. LoL you PlayStation guys are awesome at gaming i can beat all my games but i take a long time as for the last difficulty i can’t ever beat game on that LoL i beat Killzone 2 on all ranks almost i got everything online. And on resistance 2 one of longest game in the world in co-op i almost got platinum too bad beating this mofafucka on SuperHuman is insane hard for me.

The only games that I suck at are strategy type games. I’ve never dusted off the old Civilization 2 for years, but I’m just plain bad. Although I do have fond memories of cheating constantly at Age of Empires 2. Good times.

I have a gamer score of 3000+ don’t know if that’s good or shit but I spend most my gaming hours on the PS3.
Will never get the Killzone 2 Plat because I hate online trophies, can’t be arsed with them lol.
Only done COD 5 on Veteran just because there’s a platinum at the end of it, I see no reward in doing the older ones.
Only started going for the Platinum’s when Resi5 came out, that was my 1st one.
I would have more but army life takes up most my free time lol.

Lol.. Well platinum system is just like achievements u know, i understand its concept.. When u get full trophies in a game, u get platinum rite, so in that i think i have 27 games completed to retail 1000gs minus some dlc ach’s.. M currently lacked somewhere arnd 44000+ in world rank and 23rd on country rank.. Completion rate is 75%, all these stats courtesy mygamercard.net

3000+ score is fine, actually all that maaters is ur completetion rate, ie how many games took u to get 3000.. For me its usualy takes 4 and at times only 3 games (without dlc) to get 3000gs..

The trophy system is deep you also get to level up and u also get percentage for each trophy you get. Is not just gamerscore that would be lame.

You could be level 99, and i could be level 15 and i could still own you on online multiplayer, so ur level doesnt actually represents ur skills.. which is sad, making ur levels rather pointless

CAD, that’s a fair point, well made. I am indeed against DLC for the sake of it when it could have been included in the game. I’ll wait to see what it is before I criticize too badly though.
With Uncharted 2 there is already a stunning single-player game there and multiplayer options galore. Other titles have launched with the promise of DLC and only half a game on the disc.

DLC hell yes the game is already beyond and beyond worth buy it got back to 97 on Metacritic since it was score higher. This DLC is free and pay i wanna get both.

To people questioning the DLC: Doesn’t Uncharted 2 take up every last bit of that 25GB blu-ray disk? And it isn’t like the game needs an install (or even loading after you get started). Anyways, I want maybe some new modes, and multi-player maps. For such a solid online, we need more than the 7 or 8. It would also be awesome to see a bonus level.
What I want is a single-player Survival and Plunder mode. Maybe single-player objectives against AI. It would be nice to be able to polish up your skills alone when you don’t have friends to play it (a good break from an awkward stranger trying to steal your kills).

2. Demon’s Souls
3. Uncharted
4. The price came down below $300
5. They finally incorporated trophies standard
6. The redesign

All good points. The last one was not really something i like LoL but not everyone cares about how their console looks i guess. Yeah trophies got to us in fw 2.40. long time. And the God of War and UNCHARTED and price reason are still working for many other people. I’m glad to hear i was wrong in some way i guess.
My reason for buying all my PLAYSTATION 3 simple is PlayStation. Again i hope you keep enjoying your precious PS3 for as long as you can next year you would like even more no doubt.

Sorry to hear you’ve never played a Nintendo product, as they’ve had some truly unique and enjoyable gaming experiences offered to the public for the 24 years that I can remember, in the arcade, on home consoles, and handhelds. well i m getting it, whether its gets great reviews or not.. Reviews are nothing but just, opinion of the person who’s playing the game, and not the general consensus.. Unless there are plenty of game-breaking glitches, it ll do just fine IMO..
