Xbox 360 owners playing Halo 3 over ODST: XBL activity
Halo 3 is the biggest title to hit the Xbox 360. The game is so popular it has literately cemented itself within the number one spot on the top 10 Xbox 360 Live active titles. Surprisingly, Halo fans seem to be sticking to Halo 3 over ODST, which is sitting at number four. Will Halo 3 remain on top with great games coming out this holiday?
Major Nelson recently put up the top ten active games being played on XBL. Interestingly, Halo 3 is at number one and Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War are at number two and three. Also, Halo 3: ODST comes in at number four on the list. It seems like Halo fans are unwillingly to move away from Halo 3 even with the latest iteration in the series out.
It may be due to the fact that half the content within ODST is maps most hardcore Halo 3 fans probably already own.

Considering the presence COD4 has on XBL, I can only imagine the activity once COD: MW2 drops next month. I can almost guarantee that Modern Warfare 2 will unseat Halo 3 from its number one position. It’s good to see Borderlands making it into the top 10 beating Left 4 Dead. I suspect activity for L4D will die down a bit in anticipation of L4D2. The online co-op mode in Borderlands definitely makes it an enticing game to play on XBL. Make sure to stay tuned for our review of Borderlands coming soon.

Where’s the surprise?
Established (massive) game is ahead of brand new release.
The same thing’s going on with COD.
I expect ODST to climb the chart in the coming weeks – especially as the more casual gamer – like myself – discover that ODST saves us having to splash out on Halo 3 maps.
Having said that I have (but have yet to open) a brand new Halo 3 game and when the price falls some more I’ll get ODST.
Meanwhile Gears 2 is just so much fun with a group of friends on-line.

Mike it’s not the fact that Halo 3 is being bought over ODST. There are two disk in the ODST Package. When you insert the ODST disk you will see Halo ODST is being played but when you insert the Multiplayer disk it will say Halo 3. So basically there is a reemergence of Halo 3 because everyone has finished with disk 1 already. If there was matchmaking for the ODST Campaign and Firefight I’m sure OSDT would be at #2 spot. It is hard to get a decent Firefight or 4 player co-op going on ODST because of that. I traded in Halo 3 for ODST and I know others that did the same because were all finished with the Halo 3 campaign but it’s the multiplayer that thrives and lives on.

Who is getting the GTA 4: The Ballads of Gay Tony. I believe it drops today. I was fence sitting on this one but after watching a few videos and trailers and then when I checked the reviews, everyone review is praising this episode. I’m definately getting this as everyone is saying it is the best part of liberty city. It’s over the top GTA style.

@CAD – It looks like Gay Tony moves a bit more towards GTA:SA which is good imo (yay parachutes!)
GTA got ‘too serious’ with GTA4.
I missed planes, skydiving, jetpacks, etc.

The top 4 games are existentially two games.. and the two games are fairly similar at that.
This is basically giving developers the green flag to create a FPS and re release it every year. Thanks guys!

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be #1 for a very long time on Xbox Live, and maybe PC. On PS3 it got #2 secured already because UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves got #1 lock down until MAG launches and MAG has #1 until The Agency comes out.

Sony should celebrate Halloween on PlayStation Home. They should have a full day celebration decorate very nice with streaming hollowness stuff and a lot of hunted clothes and spaces.

I think that Halo 3 was a better game for its time than ODST. I mean, ODST has a campaign length that isn’t very much longer than Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty (which is a $10 download). Even with the online and Halo name, I wouldn’t pay more than, lets say, $40 for it. You can’t deny that it is a good game for what it is. But for Microsoft’s latest edition in their most popular franchise, they were lazy.
Just played the Crack in Time demo. No idea why it took 2.4GB, but whatever. The graphics are looking very, very nice (not up to Uncharted 2’s level, though), and I’m loving the puzzles. Gotta pick this one up.

I played the demo got stuck on one of the puzzle you need to record twice to open a door and i gave up and quit it got pissed off. But yeah most i think is 2.4 GB because the graphics and length of the demos.

Ghost and I were solving this scavenger hunt type of puzzle (in HOME) and it was actually letters and numbers for a PSN redeem code. he solved the whole puzzle he just needed my help for the last 2 letters because with his tv he couldnt see it clearly.

Roca, you should take advantage of the Halloween demon’s souls black tendency shift. It’s a good chance to get all white and black done in a single play through.
I already beat it. I finished 2 boards on new game + so far, but it does get a lot harder. Basically your levels and equipment don’t mean anything, PLUS the enemies are harder/do more damage, PLUS it takes forever to gain levels. So take your time finishing the game.

I think it’s Halloween. Maybe the whole weekend. It won’t help at all with the white events, but you can knock out all of the black over the weekend.
If you beat an areas boss, you can still shift the world white by successfully co-oping. You can also beat mini bosses/black phantoms. There is a section on it in the strategy guide (page 29).

When you kill a named black phantom, that world is returned to neutral tendency. I also experienced extreme WT shifts to the white when spending a shitload of points on levels that I saved up farming for an hour or two. Everytime I gained more than 5-6 levels at once, all my PBWT worlds would be returned to neutral, I real fucking Ephemeral Stone sink if I was intending on continuing farming.
I suggest doing all the white events first. Keeping the worlds in PWWT makes the game easier, as they ramp up stats and AI as the WT gets blacker. But they also increase the XP at the same rate, so for soul farming, PBWT is a must.
Also, wait until you are almost at platinum trophy before going PB Character tendency. When at PB, you do less damage in both body and soul form than you do at PW, as well, you have a lot less HP in soul form (40% versus about 55%)when you are pure black character tendency. It is much easier to get to Pure black, than it is to get back to pure white, so don’t be too eager to finish those quests, as the game is pretty fucking hard at PBCT.
