No LittleBigPlanet 2 on PS3… probably
If a game on any system is a big hit it usually means a sequel is guaranteed. But that may not be the case with LittleBigPlanet, with the community aspects meaning a LittleBigPlanet 2 may actually be counterproductive. At least according to its developer Media Molecule.
LittleBigPlanet was a big PS3 exclusive that may not have shifted units in the way it was meant to but certainly became another reason to purchase a Playstation 3. What made the game work and what means it’s still worth buying now is the community aspects, with user-created levels aplenty and released DLC expanding the game on a regular basis.
It’s for these reasons that Media Molecule isn’t yet sure about making a sequel.
In an interview with Critical Gamer, producer Martin Lynagh spoke about DLC and updates for the current game by saying:
I think what you’ve seen so far from LittleBigPlanet, that’s the way it’s going to continue.
And level designer Danny Leaver explained why he thinks a sequel could fragment the LittleBigPlanet community, saying:
We’d never want to do that. That’d be the most counterproductive thing you could do, I think.
It’s certainly true that the release of LittleBigPlanet 2 could fragment the community that has built up around the original. And some of the user-created levels are just as well-designed and fun to play as the original levels created by the team at Media Molecule. The only justification for a sequel would be new features that couldn’t be released via DLC. And I’m struggling to think what those features could be.

If they ever do bring it out, the only thing I hope they improve on is when you move from the background to the foreground etc. That was a little annoying. Other than that it is a cute game, my wife liked it which says a lot because she hates games.

As much as I love the game, I only put in several hours (Uncharted 2 is hogging my PS3). I’ll finish it someday. It is one of those games that I feel doesn’t need a sequel until the next system comes along.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least, that gamers who came up well after platforming was king (NES/SNES/SMS/Genesis) would think a game like LBP, the most advanced platformer ever, sucks.
I compare LBP to my many hours spent on the Super Mario series, Sonic series, ghosts and goblins, original Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden games, and it really is a modern interpretation of those game styles, done in a modern, user generated way.
I haven’t played it in a long time, nor did I put much time into it to begin with, but LBP to me is brilliant, and enticing. But that might just be because I am old.

This game really doesn’t need a sequel on the ps3. Theres enough user generated content to keep someone busy for the entire ps3 generation.
They hit a million level created in July. Even if just some of those levels were good you would still find it over the top playing all of them.
They could add updates, like they did with the water patch.

to get the whole story right you need to play GOW PSP. Kratos saved Helio’s ass from Morpheus, he chained the Titan Atlas to hold the World on his shoulders.
the Gloves come from GOW PSP and in GOW3 demo there is a shield in front of Helios. thats the Sun Shield Kratos was using in GoW PSP.

The more and more I think about the game the more I confuse myself between the order of them.
I’m thinking Chains of Olympus comes after GOW1 and right before GOW2.
Look. After beat the game (COO) you get dropped off at a spot where you commit suicide and get turned into a god right after it which proceeds GOW2.
All of GOW1 is flashback. So wouldn’t chains start after GoW1?

-at the end of god of war 1, Kratos became a god, since Kratos killed the god of War, Olympus needs all its god to balance the world. so the gods made Kratos the new god of war.
-in Gow2 Zeus betrayed him and turned Kratos bacn into a mortal.
-in GoW: CoO Kratos was a servant of the god (he had not become a god yet). Atlas told Kratos that the God were just using him and Kratos did not listen

-GOW starts with him jumping off cliff and All of GOW1 is told through flash back
-After to beat COO you are at the cliffs where you would later jump from and turn into a god.
Can you see how it appears that COO does indeed come after GOW chronologically?
It leaves no time after he gets to the cliff and jumps for the events of GOW to unfold.

so they could not have told Kratos that they CANT release him from his nightmares in COO as he was still beleiving they were going to keep their promise. so he must have gone back to the same cliff (because it is right in front of the gate of olympus) after the he killed Ares and the god failed to keep their promise.
