PSPgo helps Playstation overtake Japanese market
The PSPgo recently launched in Japan this month and the initial sales figures are in. It seems like the new PSPgo is giving the Playstation brand the boost needed to completely dominate the video game market it Japan.
The PSPgo figures have yet to be released in the U.S., but Sony has indicated that sales are in line with expectations, which really isn’t saying much. I suspect that Sony expects to sell not that many PSPgo handhelds off the bat.
According to Kotaku, Media Create released the latest figures for last week which includes one day sales for the PSPgo.
- Nintendo DSi – 37,517
- PlayStation 3 – 36,061
- PSP – 34,911
- PSP go – 29,109 (1 day)
- Wii – 28,888
- Nintendo DS Lite – 6,902
- Xbox 360 – 6,047
- PlayStation 2 – 1,966

It seems like the Playstation brand is really dominating the video game market knocking Nintendo off the top completely. The sales figures for the PSPgo are impressive considering its only for one day (November 1st). However, I suspect once the initial launch boost wears off either the fat PSP or PSPgo will overtake the other.

I hardly think that Msft does not care about the Japanese market. Msft spent a great deal of money building up its RPG game base by purchasing a number of exclusive titles such as: Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, etc…
After all, Japan is still the second largest market for video games as a single country after the US.

what I tried to say was.
in JP ppl are not use to paying for online play….you can play online in the arcades in JP, most trains and Buses have Wi-fi and you ppl playing their PSP and DS online while riding public transportation.
buy “timed exclusive” is not enough, they should build a strong japanese gaming studio to produce J-style game s for the 360 (but I think its too late know). and even with those “timed exclusive” MS missed where it matters the most FFXIII for the 360 in JP.

It’s just like M$ to try and buy up what everybody else has done and call it there own…Oh look this here title is doing pretty well let’s buy it up and put “EXCLUSIVELY on x-box” on the cover.. We don’t have originality but we have bucket-loads of money so FTW lol…LMFAO at the thread earlier where all the x-box followers where trying to convince everyone and themselves that x-box = originality and
innovation… funny funny stuff hehehe…..

The Japanese love their handhelds.
Think Demon’s Souls is hard? Try Monster Hunter for PSP. I would say it’s about 20 times harder.
-No lock on
-No leveling up
-No magic
-More grinding/farming
-Bosses run away, hide, and heal.
-Levels are timed
-Need to win impossible battles multiple times, so you can create weapons and armor.
I could keep going on…

-longer healing animations
-really clunky inventory system (try holding two buttons at once just to find an item, then you have to hit another button, and wait for the animation to heal, all in the middle of an epic battle)
-uncooperative finicky camera
-no online co-op (only local)
… that’s all I can think of for now, but trust me there is more.
