Sony launches first ever game party for Modern Warfare 2 within Home
With the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Sony planned an in-Home event to push the release of the game. The event is called “featured game party,†where gamers will gather to one place to talk and launch into online matches. The events will feature guest speakers, tangible prices and more.
When I saw a message sent to me earlier today about a COD:MW2 launch party within Home, the first thing I imagined was hundreds of geeks gathering in the Central Plaza doing the running man. However, when I read the details of the featured game party on the Official Playstation Blog, it peaked my interest as Sony was handpicking attendees at the event to receive free stuff.
The event was held at a specific instance of the Central Plaza, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sony invited all gamers to attend the event and launch into COD:MW2 directly from Home with other players there. Moderators walked around picking 10 gamers at random to receive a 1/6-scale (12-inch tall) statue of Cpt. “Soap†MacTavish of TaskForce 141. The statue of MacTavish is equipped with his custom snow camo and weapons from the Cliffhanger mission.

I found the event actually quite fun as I walked around met some interesting gamers. We chatted for a bit before launching into a match. I found the concept of the ability to launch into the various multiplayer match types (free-for-all, search & destroy, demolition, etc…) directly from Home convenient. However, not everything was rosy as the in-game launching could use some tweaks as few of the players were having issues even getting into the session. Also, many gamers were not able to get into the Plaza as it was showing full. I would recommend for the Playstation community team to test out the capacity next time.
According to the Playstation Community management team who was holding the event, there will be may more upcoming events where guest developers will be in attendance to talk and play online with. It’s an interesting concept, and I would like to see how this evolves.

On a lighter note – here in the UK Sainsburys are having a sale on Nintendo and Sony games consoles – 20% off. That means you can get the PS3 slim for £199. Pretty good deal. Not only that they are selling Modern Warefare 2 for £26 (providing they aren’t still sold out). You just have to love supermarket price wars!

Well Ivan all I gotta say is that your missing out because Modern Warfare 2 is awesome. The graphics are amazing the game play is amazing and 2 is much better then 1 and the 1st was a great game within it’s own. That snow mission is just crazy especially when you get on the snowmobiles. Ivan cut the bullshit and get the game.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is more hype then any game even Halo. I rather play Halo: Combat Evolved then to keep playing MW2. The whole game feels like OSDT just a expansion pack dated. I’ll wait for MAG or a new PS3 SOCOM.

I finally got a chance to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. It’s not a bad game. It is a decent game. People who like first person shooters will have some fun with this.

I’m really undecided about Dragon Age. It looks decent enough, and it has been getting great reviews.
All I know is, KOTOR II also got great reviews, but it was painfully boring. Who would have thought that a Star Wars RPG could be so bad? It still has an average of 86 on metacritic… but trust me, it sucked. Really badly.
So I’m hesitant about Dragon Age.

my friend got it and he told me is not like demon’s souls where you have total control of your character. in Dragon age you chose a character the you give him a command to follow. for ex. if you have…lets say 3 characters (a female and a 2 dudes) you chose the female, then chose the “attack command” and she is going to stay doing the same move (swinging her sword) until you give her a different command. then you can you one of the dude then chose and “magic command” he will just stay there doing the same magic attack until you chose otherwise.
doesnt sound like a game I would want to play. I’ll give it a try when a have the chance though

the graphics are pretty good. The environments, enemies, and characters all look great. But when you talk to NPC’s it’s not animated, so it looks a little crappy when compared to other games. All in all, I would say that the graphics are good.
But asides from the graphics, the game itself is amazing. There really isn’t anything like it on a console.

im on my second playthrough, almost on my 3rd. the graphics and the feel of the game are just right. personally I think the graphics are top notch for this type of game.
but the game is addicting and it is a lot of fun specially if you can get a friend to co-op with. a must buy for hardcore RPG gamers.

Well, the game is really making the news. They say it could sell 4 million copies first day. I wouldn’t doubt it.
Just got back from drumming at a Remembrance Day concert. Only screwed up once… which is good, because if I screw up, everyone screws up, then blames the drummer. Talk about pressure.

“how long is dragon age? and how good is it?”
I don’t know yet about how long it is… I’m about 30 hours in and the codex says I have only 18% complete… but the lead designer says on average about 80 hours for a single origin playthrough. I’m guessing to get all the achievements it will be at least 100-120+. There are 100 sidequests you do not have to do, and 6 origin stories.
It’s great so far, though some parts are drier than others. As for the gameplay, you do not have to control your character if you do not wish to, just hit the attack button once and let them go. However, if you wish to have more control during battle (highly suggested on normal to higher difficulties), you can move your character after each strike, use the radial menus, and execute each strike how you wish.
You can control any character in your party at any time during the battle as well. You can also set each character’s tactics ahead of time or during battle. For instance, behavior can be set to Aggressive, Ranged, Cautious, or Defensive. Presets can be Defender, Scrapper, Archer, or Custom.
Custom options are very numerous, including presets for yourself, the enemy, all party members, and or specific party members. Things like, if your health, the enemy’s health, or a party member’s health reaches a certain amount, you set an action such as using a poultice, finishing strike, or healing spell. There is a vast amount of options to choose from and this only touches a very few.
With these options, you can also set up archers and mages to hold ground from strategic positions while your tanks and other melee characters go to town on the enemy.
I started on normal difficulty, then lowered it to casual just to progress faster, though I would say casual is too easy for most. Normal and higher will definitely provide a challenge at times.
The game has some great tongue in cheek humor at times, and the conversations between the characters in your party also provide some decent comedic relief. The game’s graphics can look downright pathetic at times, and wonderful at others. Overall the experience has been a fun one so far.

I don´t know if there was a bug with the patch or something, but one of my dragons in the last stages of “evolution” was invincible… literaly… it could not die no matter what, it´s HP (typical 9999 from Square) didn´t move at all.
