Final Fantasy XIII release date revealed
Final Fantasy XIII has felt like it’s been an age in arriving. But it’s now finally on its way. The Dec. 17 release date in Japan was already known, but the release date for the United States and Europe was announced today, embedded in a brand new video trailer from Square Enix.
The video is embedded below. If you’re only interested in the announcement of the release date then skip to 04:45. But I don’t recommend it as you’ll miss out on some gorgeous HD footage of the game as well as talking heads involved in the making of Final Fantasy XIII giving insights.
So, Final Fantasy XIII will be arriving in the west on March 9, 2010. That’s sooner than I expected, especially for Europe. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are being released simultaneously, so I’m guessing that March will see a similar situation as experienced this month (Modern Warfare 2) thanks to everyone wanting to get the game ASAP.
According to The Lost Gamer, Phil Rogers, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Europe, said:
Final Fantasy XIII promises to be a huge event in the 2010 gaming calendar. This is truly a landmark title, arriving simultaneously for multiple platforms for the first time in the history of the series. We are also immensely proud to be able to bring the game to the European and PAL audience much earlier than was publicly anticipated.
I personally cannot wait for Final Fantasy XIII to be released. Alongside Gran Turismo 5, it’s one of just a few games I am guaranteed to buy on day one and play until my eyes can take no more. I foresee a few months of extremely late nights come spring.

GT is coming out JP in March and FF13 in December 09. GT probably will come out in the Summer outside of JP.
but it is still a dumb move (not by sony but by S.E) because GoW3 is also coming out in March.

Hey Ivan didn’t you already have a birthday? I coulda swore you said something about it and I think it just happened to be on another game release date then also?? Anyway looks like we have a pretty awesome game line up coming out..Of course I am glad Final Fantasy XIII is coming to the “other” console as well lol but it does make you wonder just how much they paid to get included? I mean look how much they shelled out to keep a DLC for a little while.

Square-Enix didn’t want to make FF on Xbox 360 but they couldn’t resist the pay check from Microsoft trying to buy themselves some PS3 exclusives. Also Konami never made MGS4 on Xbox 360 well it couldn’t be done and because Sony wouldn’t let it happen. Konami is making a multiplaform MGS but not with Snake LoL. The only console getting a real Metal Gear Solid game is PSP. Hideo Kojima couldn’t say no to a check they wouldn’t let him also when he announce MGS Rising you can see he was even SAD to even say it. Sony has the best games and Microsoft is trying to write checks to get some LoL. Developers choose the PlayStation because is the best console deal with facts not myth face the true.
Metal Gear Solid basically all PlayStation
Devil May Cry PlayStation
Final Fantasy PlayStation
Grand Theft Auto PlayStation
Tomb Raider PlayStation
Tekken PlayStation
Medal of Honor PlayStation
PlayStation is the console that has the best games just look at it research.
November 14th, 2009
That list is a little sad Ivan. MGS is the only one on that list that hasn’t (yet) gone multi platform.
PS3 just doesn’t have the blockbuster exclusives that made the PS2 such a great console.
November 14th, 2009
Xbox doesn’t a single one they try to buy PS3 games how sad.

great news guys,
PS3 version of “Just Cause” will have a few more interesting features than the X360 version. read below
- Video capture feature
- Can auto-record/record last 30 seconds of gameplay
- Manual record up to 10 minutes
- Can transfer directly to Youtube
it all started with Unreal Tournament 3 (mods), follow by a few others, then Batman, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the Dragon Age, now Just Cause, then Star Ocean and Tales of Visperia. it looks like every single game gets more stuff on the PS3.
November 14th, 2009
Yup Xbox 360 paid to get crap we get the best stuff.
November 14th, 2009
Wow, they got really good Global illumination for that CGI world that guy was walking in (I’m into 3D stuff) As for the video, I really don’t want to see it, because of the spoilers.

November 14th, 2009
Great, I’ll see there early next year. I’ll even buy you a habu sake in Akihabara. Cheers.

@roca
Extra shit like that pisses me off along with exclusive DLC if someone is paying €60 for a game regardless of the console they have they should get the same crap it’s unfair on the consumer and it’s dirty tactics

I think they add more stuff to the PS3 version because it comes out later..so they spice it up some and tweak the graphics a little. But I agree with you they should at least offer a free patch for the other console version, for people who bought the game when it first came out.

Have they announced a release date for FF13 in Japan yet?
November 16th, 2009
Dec 12 i believe…
Epic day in Japan. FFXIII is expecting to sell 2 million PS3s
November 16th, 2009
2 million is a big number.
How funny would it be if the localization was completed and SE didn’t prevent the game from being imported to other territories just to F MS.
