PS3 COD: Modern Warfare 2 crumbles under demand
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a hit, selling over 4 million copies total across all platforms. Unfortunately, many PS3 owners in North America have been experiencing some difficulty getting into a multiplayer match upon release of the game. Apparently Infinity Ward underestimated the demand for the game on the platform.
Some PS3 owners have been complaining about difficulty in connecting to the multiplayer mode. From my experience, I really haven’t seen that many issues on the PS3 version of the game, except for the odd few times I had to retry to get in. The issue may be more isolated to regions further away from the central servers.
According to Infinity Ward’s creative strategist, Fourtwozero – Robert Bowling, the demand for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the PS3 is higher than anticipated. Bowling has commented that the studio is busy adding more “presence servers” in order to handle the demand.
I wonder if Infinity Ward only planned half the servers for the PS3 in comparison to the Xbox 360 in North America. After all, the userbase in North America for the Xbox 360 is double the size of the PS3’s userbase. It seems like the studio underestimated the power of its own game or the Call of Duty franchise.

That excuse is a cop-out. It happened with Borderlands also. It also happened to Xbox live a couple of years ago at Christmas (I was away at the time and was gifted a free copy of Undertow for my troubles!). I am sure they had some egghead telling them approximately how many people are going to buy the game. There is no excuse to not being prepared.

Well considering that you got that wrong and it’s not Infinity Wards Servers It’s Sony’s servers. So really it’s Sony who under estimated the sales. I guess you did not see the tweet about that.

My cousin and friends are all playing this piece of shit game online. They trying to get me to buy it but i told them I’m stupid like they are. So i will wait for MAG or a proper sequel to SOCOM on PS3 by Zipper Interactive. MW2 on PS3 is fine for most people i know.

happys very short memory conveniently allows him to forget all the network issues with the release of Gears of War 2. Those problems lasted longer than a day.
It is very humorous that xbots are trying to tie this into the dedicated server talk from before.
FYI. MW2 does not have dedicated servers on either console. These are connection issues that were reported to be the fault of Activision and are all cleared up now.

It gets more attention of course due to the popularity of MW2.
Borderlands issues hardly made a story.

Microsoft tells the public they are making money with Xbox 360. But with the warranty extension for 3 years they had to pay themselves. Also they have 1 year ahead of Sony and the Xbox 360 Arcade at $200 for a long time and still not even close to 40 million consoles sold. And buying timed DLC timed exclusives and then losing them to Sony is not making them anything but more debt.Sony is the one making profit secretly i guess. The PS2 already made more then enough profit for Sony. The price losses they toked with the PS3 was paid with the PS2 that’s why stop the backwards compatibility support.

During the ongoing BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference in New York, COO of interactive entertainment business Dennis Durkin stated the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has doubled up the PlayStation 3.
“Initial feedback from retailers is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 [on Xbox 360] has outsold the PS3 2:1,” he said.
Durkin also stated this past Tuesday was the largest day on Xbox Live ever, with over two million concurrent players on at a given time. He also touted the service by taking a jab at Sony, saying Xbox Live had no server issues even with such a large number.

Everyone has different preferences as far as games go. One person might think that one particular title is the greatest game ever made. Someone else may think the same game is crap. For example, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has sold a truck load of copies. Even though I got the game, I think it is just an okay game. However, it’s a fact that xbox360 has a terrible failure rate. There’s no denying this.

when you get to lvl 180 let me know.
quick tips about the game.
-you can summond other players (blue Phanton) to help you clear a level/boss. this feature is available after you defeat the first boss.
-you can only summond other players in Body form and not in Soul form
-if died alot (in body form) it will shit your world tendency (top right symbol) to Black and the game becomes harder. if you dying while in soul form wont affect your world tendency
-finally checkout this website http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/ where you can find out more about the game. look for strategies on how to be bosses, this is a must.

Even so, the ratio of consoles vs consoles is nowhere near the 2 to 1 difference as the software sales. To do this, the 360 would have almost 60 million consoles on the market, but they don’t. not even close.
