Sony announce Facebook for PS3 the day before Xbox 360 gets it
Microsoft announced last week that a new dashboard update will be hitting the Xbox 360 with Facebook integration. The day before this update hits, Sony announced that the PS3 will also be getting Facebook integration. It seems like the social battle of attrition has started.
Microsoft will be dropping the latest dashboard update tomorrow that will integrate Facebook into the NXE. Yes, I know it’s all very exciting. To combat Microsoft’s dashboard update, Sony is revealing that the PS3 will be also getting Facebook integration with firmware update 3.10. Again, it’s all very exciting stuff.
On top of the Facebook integration, firmware 3.10 makes some minor tweaks to how photos are shown and also allows you to change your PSN ID color. Your friends will also be able to see your PSN ID color as well. As I mentioned above, it’s all very exciting stuff, and pretty soon everyone will be able to see what games you are playing on your Facebook.

Sony is integrating Facebook as a gaming feature, which is pretty good (as the PS3 is a gaming system) and its better than having the same old Facebook page you see on your computer.
Nice way to upped the competition.

Nice i like the new way to view photos also i will now be getting Facebook no doubt this new update looks good. Also i still hate the box on your name but i like how we now allow to add colors.
Microsoft why do you keep stealing your customer’s money by forcing only gold members to use your features like Facebook and Twitter plus to play online or to chat or to send messages via PC…

Im not into it, I barely use Facebook. But i wont mind having my gaming updates popping up automatically

Really harry, Roca has a point. Though he would probably do best to just avoid your bait, but all of us have interest in everything when it comes to this site, even if otherwise we wouldn’t give a shit.
I agree with Roca, I have a FB account, check it once every2-4 months at most and don’t really care about it in general, but would probably make some decent use of updates through it, since I get all my FB notifications through my main email account.

Sounds to me like the 360 is the me too console in this instance. Facebook has been available to ps3 users through the browser.

I created a Facebook account last night just to see how it looks on the 360. It’s not bad. Browsing other people’s photos etc was rather seamless. I’m not going to be updating it or anything though, I am too busy to do shit like that.
The Twitter functionality was seamless too!
The 1080p streaming looks fantastic! I streamed a preview of the new ‘Avatar’ movie and it looked great! The only downside to this is that 4 minute clip took 280mb! I was having a look at the download size of HD movies and they range from 6gb to 11gb. This is a big issue in Australia, seeing that we are all capped (mine is 25gb), we won’t want to be wasting our download limits on this. There is one company, iinet, who have unmetered Xbox 360 traffic, but they have added a clause to this deal saying that it does not include movie traffic.
So basically, we can’t use this great feature, or an ISP has to come to the party.
I am somewhat surprised that these new features have not been covered on Blorge….

I have a facebook which I don’t use very often. I don’t see the need to constantly broadcast what I’m up to.
Most of the updates people post are garbage anyway, like: stuck in traffic, at work, etc. And now, “I got the best weapon by blade stone trophy”.
I don’t think “normal” people would care. PSN people can see my trophies, and that’s all I really care about.

if you had a PS3 you will know there is a GT5 demo that came out years before Prologue came out. I believed the demo had 5 cars and two tracks for FREE.
now if can name a racing demo (or a racing game) that has 70 cars, time-trails, drift mode, online mode, SP and GT-TV that will be nice.

GT5p has 70 cars……how many does Burnout Paradise has (76), how many does NFS shift has (65). how does Midnight Club has (43 cars and 3 bikes)….come on dude GT5p’s 70 realsitc looking cars is a steal for $40 compare to those for $60. you point fell short lol

now if YOU CAN name a racing “demo” (or a racing game) that has 70 cars, time-trails, drift mode, online mode, SP and GT-TV that will be nice. its a steal for $40. specially since all your progress/cars will be transfer to GT5. Demo dont do that.
the GT5 demo was free and it had 5 cars and 2 tracks. this sounds more like a demo. your making ur self look even more stupid
