Xbox 360 owners revolt over wireless adapter price announcement
Major Nelson recently announced that Microsoft will be coming out with a new wireless adapter that supports N. The price tag for the new wireless adapter will be $99.99. This announcement has caused a revolt on Major Nelson’s blog by outraged gamers.
On Major Nelson’s blog Xbox 360 owners are outraged regarding the price of the new wireless adapter. The comments section spirals downwards with each page, as the complaints get pretty derogatory towards Microsoft. Some even argue that the wireless adapter is half the price of the Arcade, while others complain that every other game system out there has built in wifi including the DS and PSP to boot.
Some of the gamers on there make a great argument as to why wireless connection is just as good as wired. However, I am not sure why gamers are shocked at the price tag as it has always been $99.99 since the beginning, and it is a new SKU after all.

Not to mention, if latency is such a big concern that you MUST upgrade to N, just use a fucking cable and get much better performance. The difference between them is miniscule, and trvial when compared to the latency reduction in using hard line connection.

To be honest, the big news should not be the wireless N price, but the reduction in the old wireless price. It is a nice break for loyal (or new) 360 users to be given, considering the price difference does not justify the performance difference.

In a period of both consoles first 36 months on the market, the 360 has had a lead over the PS3 by 2 million consoles in North America. Oddly enough the PS3 still managed to sell more consoles world wide in the same time frame.
Truth be told. I really don’t care about sales, as I don’t own stock in the company. I’ll continue to post things about it because I know how much you care.
Oh and btw. The PS3 outsells the 360 by 100K a month in Japan. That stuff adds up.

I honestly don’t care much about console sales. Of course you want your console of choice to be the greatest thing ever, but there’s no need to make a fuss out of it.
If you really want to talk sales, all consoles have actually done well. The Wii was the biggest thing since the tickle-me-elmo doll, but I don’t imagine that it has a very good software attachment rate. Now the Wii is starting to slow down, and I don’t see any way to revive it (not like anybody would want to).
There are more Xbox 360s out there than PS3’s, and they have a better attachment rate. But Microsoft is paying for their mistakes, since the RROD cost them $1 billion already and the console is pretty much maxed out. Natal will bring up the craze again.
Now the PS3 is in last place, but it actually outselling the 360 on a worldwide quarterly basis. It flopped at the beginning, but now things are beginning to change. It has the brightest future of the 3 consoles IMO.
There you go fanboys, each system wins AND fails. I think that, in the future, the Wii will die out and Wii 2 will come, but won’t sell as well. Wii 2 will be the casual console. Natal will make the 360 a casual-to-average gamer console. And the PS3 will become the average-to-hardcore gamer console.
That’s what I think of this whole console wars shenanigan.

S’funny, I had an order for the Forza Super Elite bundle & decided not to bother & returned it.
Now I’m ordering one again
(before they are all sold out, afaik there is a limit on the numbers made).
It was all because (to begin with) it looked like there was a huge f*ck-up on the data transfer.
I was led to believe that if you had already used the transfer
(which was the case when I went from 60gb to 120gb)
you could not use it again a 2nd time.
I have a lot of stuff on my 120gb HDD & I just couldn’t be ar$ed moving (excluding games saved to the HDD) about 60gb – 80gb with a memory card.
Happily it turns out that that no longer applies(well, correction, if you have an early & old box data transfer kit it will need replacing with the latest one).
I like the idea of the less juice-hungry Jasper, it’ll be a nice bonus to have that added extra bit of reliability & slightly lower ‘leccy bills.

Ya and with a hard drive that big I might look into the games on demand service cause on my pro I only have 60gbs which is nowhere near big enough if your downloading full games like mass effect which is like 8gb but the service is looking better now with the bigger hard drive

I can see your point in regards to disk space. My 20gb hard drive is starting to fill up. The DLC from Burnout Paradise was 1.2 gb, the second disc of Forza 3 takes up a few gig also. I’ve still got around 7.5gb free, but it would be nice to get some more.

Saving & running games from the hard drive is a really good idea, it gives your Xbox a much easier life.
It’s also, as I’m sure you know, much quieter & very handy to just be able to load up most of my Xbox games to the hard drive & run them from there.
It’s a shame 250gb is it so far but that’s where we are.
I expect in ‘10 there will be another bigger drive.
Until then this’ll do.

Well i got Burnout Paradise on PS3 in Blu-ray Disc also i purchased all the DLC included in the game. And i never install games on my Xbox 360 HDD i don’t mind waiting a little longer for games to load also i know it helps the console by using less power but i don’t care much since i don’t use my Xbox 360 much. When the 120GB goes for $100 i might buy it right now is only for the rich crew.

Yes, you’ll want to get a bigger hard drive whenever you can. It’s nice to download the games to the hardrive. It makes the system run quieter. Some game shops are selling the hard drive used for good prices.

As long as the game install is different than the save game location I’d go with the install also and then just delete it after I finish the game.

I have a 250GB HDD. I could leave them there for a while. The games I don’t complete than I plan on going back to (which I rarely do) I usually keep on there for the slight enticement of getting back into it.

Actually i really don’t bother deleting anything i just leave there. I left SOCOM install but i gave the game away also i still got GTA IV install but not the game. I got the Resistance 1 128MB and the Killzone 2 52 MB and 1000 and something inFMAOUS.
All you need is a 500GB to be worry free i got 2 from Seagate the company that HDD for every gaming console.
