Sony sweeps with 17 PS3 nominees in VGA Spike award show
With the Spike VGA award show coming Dec. 12, gamers have started voting for their favorite games. The Spike VGAs are one of the biggest award ceremonies celebrating the achievements in the video game industry. Currently, Sony has the most number of nominees at the show – could this spell a sweep in categories for the giant publisher?
According to the official Playstation Blog, Sony or SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) has 17 nominees this year. Its not surprising as the SCE is one of the biggest publishers in the world. I have to say that this year, Sony really stepped up their game with the Playstation brand delivering great titles such as Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time and more.
Jeff Rubenstien, Social Media Manager highlights all of the nominees on the Playstation Blog, listing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves at the top with eight whopping nominations.
He also notes that PS3 exclusive, Demon’s Souls, albeit not a SCE published game, was also nominated for best RPG category bringing in 18 total for the Playstation brand. Clearly, its an honor to be nominated out of all the great games this year. However, it will be interesting to see if the most number of nominees actually translate to the most wins. Congrats again to Sony for their master piece. That’s why is awesome being part of the biggest gaming community the PlayStation world has the greatest and most addicting games ever made. I know Sony got this VGA crap won. Fuck the other Sony’s got the best games period. We are the best.
I’m playing God of War Collection later God of War II and the demo for God of War III. I also paid in full for MAG so now just waiting to get it in January 26, 2010.

Yeah I looked at that awards and I voted on some but there was 1 game that stood out in my mind and that was the Ballads of Gay Tony under best DLC. I truly think that this should be rated for game of the year. In fact the tales of Liberty City should be considered for game of the year. Rockstar took a game and made episods for it. Usually it is a different city for each game but this time they told multiple story out of the one city. There is even the Chna Town wars. I must say that each story was good and the game progressed with each episode until this final bang with Gay Tony. Yes the whole of Rockstars efforts should be rewarded and I believe this is a hughly overlooked game because it’s DLC.

Review copies were out over a month ago and there is still three weeks left until the votes are tallied. Around 5 weeks is plenty of time for gamers to play the games and vote online.
Btw, 17 nominations, not 17 nominees… Playstation Blog… lol.

I’m surprise MLB 09: the Show didnt get nominated in the “sports” category. by far the Best Baseball game in decades.
Madden and 2k10 got nominated and yet they play n feel just like the previous game.

I think its because game released near the end of the year tend to get more attention as oppose to those released early at the beginning of the year (ex. KZ2, Baseball games, etc)

Couldn’t agree more.
Thats why GTA4 lost most GOTY awards to Fallout 3. It gave time to people to get over the initial wow factor of GTA4 and look at some of it’s issues.

Buzz games are great. Playing Buzz at my house is responsible for at least two ps3 sales.

I owned the frist one, its a great game it really make you feel like you are in one of those reality shows. they did a great with the amount of trivia quizes that are in the game. it will take you weeks to see same trivia question again.
try out my quizes whenever you have time (dont forget to give them 5 Starts lol

2009 was an amazing year for PS3 exclusives. 2010 is looking likes it’s going to be just as good.

I got AC2 yesterday but still haven’t had a chance to play it yet. I through it in to let it install. Hopefuly I’ll get a chance to play it Sunday.
I only saw a few seconds of the opening cut-scene (if you load the game and don’t press start), but it was really impressive. I had to do a double take because I couldn’t tell if it was CGI or FMV.
Really looking forward to playing it.

I think that Sony spent years digging themselves into a hole, and now they’re finally out of it. And guess what? They struck oil along the way.
Sony is keeping the higher quality in gaming right now (at an affordable price). Power, reliability, and most accessories in 1 package. They’ve screwed up in the past (and hurt lots of gamers too), but now they are in order. take Blu-ray and the Cell for example. At first, they hurt both Sony and the gamer, but it paid off.
I wouldn’t consider myself a fanboy, since I fully enjoy all the systems (including the Wii). ’07 was the 360′s best time. ’09 and now half of ’10 are the PS3′s time. The Wii went for a completely different audience, and caught them by the hair.
Favoritism is fine, but it can hurt your experience (hardcore PS fans who denied the 360, hardcore 360 fans who are denying the PS3). Just look at the facts, accept them, and let your opinion do the rest. Cheers.
As for GOTY, Uncharted 2 will probably win more websites (it has a higher metacritic average, anyhow), but websites leaning towards the public interest (IGN) will probably give it to MW2 simply because of the fan following, it is multi-plat so more people will be happy, and it is newer, so the craze will last longer in the year.
