Microsoft developing Project Gotham Racing 5
The Project Gotham Racing series was created by Bizarre Creations with Microsoft publishing the game. However, after Activision acquired Bizarre Creations, the publisher announced that the studio will no longer be making any more Project Gotham Racing games. However, it seems like Microsoft has taken it upon itself to continue the series.
The Project Gotham Racing (PGR) series has always leaned towards the arcadey racing genre. The last iteration came out two years ago right before Bizarre Creations was bought out. It seems like Microsoft is now developing the game in-house. Turn 10 seems like the likely studio to be working on PGR 5. The game has been rumored to be in the works for quite some time, as it was never officially revealed.
That is until recently, when a Microsoft exec accidentally spilled the beans on a Tesla Motor’s customer blog page [via Koku Gamer]. Tom Burt, VP for Microsoft wrote:
A team of sound engineers from Microsoft Game Studios (some working on Forza, some on Project Gotham Racing) asked if I was willing to take my Roadster to a track so they could record a variety of sounds. Some time ago they had the opportunity to record Tesla motor noises when a prototype was being run on a dyno at Tesla. But the teams were excited about the prospect of recording other sounds, particularly tire skid and squeal noises, without the interference of loud engine and exhaust noise. Of course I said "yes."
It seems like someone at Microsoft forgot to tell Burt that PGR has yet to be officially announced. Most likely Microsoft has been saving this nugget for next E3. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft can fill Bizarre Creation’s big shoes.

Kudos to M$ for picking up the series even after Activision dropped it. I asume they thought it would not make them enough cash. So I hope this game is a big hit and makes a ton of money. lol that would be funny IMO.

Well I hate this series as well but hopefully Turn 10 can make it the racer it should have been. I look forward to trying out this game. Arcade racers can’t just belong to Need For Speed and Midnight Club.

More racing games they need something better to survive against Sony arsenal.

Never heard of these games were they any good?

The only reason Activiion dropped the series is because they couldn’t package the game with plastic instruments.

I liked PGR3.
I have PGR4 but haven’t played it much but it seems to be decent.
Probably going to be a Forza 3 some time when it arrives in the coming weeks
(after my Super Elite arives & I sort out the data transfer).

250GB ain’t much but 500GB is awesome still i don’t consider my PS3s super elite they all the same with a different massive HDD. Xbox 360 is still lagging in technology and accessories plus games. We need a Blu-ray.

You’re being a tad schizo right now, is this fanboy Ivan or the Ivan that makes restrained and reasonable points?
250gb is not massive but then I don’t really need my game console to have a genuinely massive hard drive, not if I’m being honest about it.
I can already stream pics, music and movies from either of my PCs.
I have 2tbs of space on my main and on my HTPC I have 1.5tbs.
I also have a 500gb external hard drive I keep for my Xbox formatted to HFS+ so I don’t have to worry about the Fat32 4gb limits.
The only reason I wanted the Super Elite (which is just its name not a value judgement on it either way) is because it’s a Jasper and because the eaxtra hard drive space will allow me to load up almost all my Xbox 360 games onto the hard drive (a) because it’s quieter, (b) because it gives the Xbox a much easier life and (c) cos I’m a lazy so and so and I like the idea of all my games being on the drive without me messing about.
I will only have to put the disc in and it’s ready to go.
Xbox isn;t “lagging in technology” either.
There’s nothing (in any serious tangible sense) that PS3 can do that it can’t.
In fact there are some things it can do which PS3 can’t (like tesselation and running it’s cores seperately and independently from each other….even accepting that PS3 doesn’t have ‘cores’ as such they cannot operate independently of each other at the same time).
Exactly which accessories do you imagine the Xbox lacks compared to the other consoles?
The only thing I can think of is the motion controller that Wii has but both Xbox & PS3 wil be getting that before long.
The Xbox game catalogue is larger than the rest so I have no idea what you are talking about here when you refer to games.
‘We’ don’t need a Blu-ray drive either.
Why would anyone now worry about any particular physical data container?
Digital distribution is the way ahead and it’s obvious from streaming HD content to interactive community stuff Xbox has it all covered.

maybe PGR + FM will come close to a GT game.
I hope they fix the bouncing and the flipping

roca – actually, the reviews from gaming sites have Forza motorsports completely outscoring any GT game to date, is said to be better looking than any GT game to date, and has more realistic physics than any GT game to date.
it must be killing you that GT is no longer the king of sims on the console to have you post such idiocy day in and day out.
I guess cars don’t actually flip in real life, right?
it’s funny, next gen when kaz tries to make his cars to flips, you clown ps3 fanboys will swear it’s “innovation”…
you= pathetic little fanboy….lmao..
Hate to break it to you, but FM3 has surpassed any GT game to date in all ways, barring needlessly repetitive car count. I’ll take more tracks over more cars anyday… and FM3 has more… ouch…

PGR4 is a very good looking game (and a nice one to play too).
Forza takes that even further.
Both are must have racing games for Xbox 360 if you like that sort of game, in my opinion.

Seriously, I really couldn’t give a flying f*ck about GT5.

You might care to look at the thread header, this is an Xbox thread.
You views on GT5 either way are utterly irrelevant.
