It’s interesting to see whom these stores are targeting, judging by the bundled games they offer. The 360 appears to be targeted at the under 14’s on average, whereas the PS3 seems to target the over 16’s.

Free Uncharted 2 DLC today fellas!
November 27th, 2009
Its safe to say while you get less games on the ps3 bundles compared to the 360 bundles they are clearly better games with the ps3 one.
November 27th, 2009
All PS3 bundle games are from Sony (except Batman) and thay are games from this year (except Uncharted 1)

Gamestop and Walmart Bundles look great. That one from Best buy doesn´t look bad either.

All of those are great deals. $300 for a PS3 and two games, how could you turn that down?
November 27th, 2009
Wow.
The top download on PSN now is the Warden’s Keep DLC for Dragon’s Age: Origins… and this DLC was ready at the launch of the game… and they are charging money for it on PSN… how come this hasn’t spurred an article here about “outraged” PS3 gamers “revolting”?… lol.
November 28th, 2009
Is this DLC free elsewhere ?? (serious question)
If not, why would there be outrage. Paid for DLC is nothing new on PSN
November 28th, 2009
he is just giving Kev more reason to talk shit.
November 28th, 2009
“Is this DLC free elsewhere?”
Yes and no:
“Anyone buying a legitimate, first-hand copy of Dragon Age will be able to download The Stone Prisoner for free, while purchasers of the digital version of the Collector’s Edition also get Warden’s Keep.”

“why would there be outrage.”
You are right (hence the “lol”), it is nothing new on PSN now, though I do remember conversations here (way outdated by now) about how you only had to pay for DLC via XBL.
Also because the DLC was ready at launch, which (to some at least) means it was taken out of the game. This was specifically mentioned here before awhile ago several times as being fundamentally wrong.

Well spotted.
I thought that the usual suspects hated it when a game was launched with DLC parts obviously being held back in an obviously cynical bid to rake in the cash.
DLC available at launch? Not a word said?
Mustn’t be an Xbox game then eh?
Hypocrites, much?
November 28th, 2009
I picked up Dragon’s Age for $35 on Amazon.
They also had Halo ODST and Left 4 Dead 2 for $35. Lots of good deals all round.
November 28th, 2009
Actually I brought it up when Dragons Age first came out. I don’t expect you to read everyone of my posts.
Both DLC were available from the get go. One was free the other you had to pay for.
Are you guys saying on the 360 this stuff is all free?
November 28th, 2009
Phranctoast
No, no-one is saying that.
What we are pointing out is that there’s barely been a peep when this sort of thing happens with a PS3 game but when it’s an Xbox game we get about 12′ of comments on several threads rhyming on and on and on about how dastardly, money grasping and evil anything connected to Xbox is and how that sort of thing ‘proves it’.
Maybe you just never noticed it phranc, huh?
November 28th, 2009
Still Happy, it is a multi-platform title… not a PS3 exclusive. Uncharted 2 DLC is free… and I don’t think there are any other PS3 exclusives that have had DLC at launch, let alone that which you had to pay for. Not to say it won’t happen soon though.
November 28th, 2009
Carlb
I think whether its a multi-platform game makes little difference, the row is always about the PS3 v Xbox and in this instance PS3 version v Xbox version.
Regardless of how often it happens the word is invariable that when it’s an Xbox game we get several meters of comment about how awful it is.
Barely a peep when it’s relating to the PS3 game.
November 28th, 2009
I wish I can find it. I was complaining about the lbp goty edition and how most of the content is free anyway. I also bitched out the new release of the force unleashed and how some of it are
not available in dlc and how unfair that is to the early adopters.
I’m hardly fair and impartial but I try sometimes.
November 28th, 2009
November 28th, 2009
I believe you phranc, no worries.
Happy, you are right, it makes little difference to those who by the game. The focus would be it is the dev’s fault, and Sony, to my knowledge, hasn’t been one of those dev’s behind paid DLC at launch.

I love epics stance on dlc. They need to keep up the good work. Didn’t valve release free dlc for l4d also?
They seem to want to keep the pc concept alive and I for one am behind that stance.
They look at it as prolonging their games lifespan making the consumer happy and therefore asuring good sales on future releases if their games.

November 29th, 2009
-Valve released free DLC on the PC..$7.99 on XBL
-Brutal Legend Free (for two weeks -15 days) on the PS3, it was a “paid DLC” from day 1 on XBL
-UT3 free DLC, all Naruto: NS DLC were free on PSN
-MS made Epic charge for free DLC (Gears 1) but then Epic fought to make them free (as they are now)
-U2 free DLC
-Joker as a playable character Free on the PSN (day 1 DLC for Free)

“-Brutal Legend Free (for two weeks -15 days) on the PS3″
Did Sony pay for that deal?
November 29th, 2009
Good question carlb. I have to figure the exclusivity of the new battlefield game mp beta was paid for.
November 29th, 2009
Weird. I could have sworn that Sony said that they will never pay for exclusivity deals a few years ago.
November 29th, 2009
Good point Harry. Not sure if they said “deals” or “games”.
November 30th, 2009
Harry. That is blasphemy. Sony never does anything they say they will never do. It just doesn’t happen. Your penance will not be complete until you pay for and play that game you played half a decade ago and probably still own because it has trophies now. And no Sony never said it would never have trophies. And because this particular game does have trophies, you will play it over and over again until you get them all… muahaha.
November 30th, 2009
there is no prove that Sony has paid for anything… we just know Sony doesnt force Devs to charge for DLC if they dont want too
one we know for sure is that Sony doesnt know write big checks for time exlcusive games..so why would they even bother on doing it for DLCs?
November 30th, 2009
queue the misdirection.
November 30th, 2009
love the hate on GoW series
November 30th, 2009
lol… I “hate” it sooo much, I’m playing it now
love the answer (non-answer) to the question
November 30th, 2009
“I’m playing it now”
“you pay for and play that game you played half a decade ago and probably still own because it has trophies now. And because this particular game does have trophies, you will play it over and over again until you get them all… muahaha”
wow…. I didnt even have to write anything, it backfire itself
November 30th, 2009
“Did Sony pay for that deal?”
is this your “non-answered” question?
November 30th, 2009
Okay, we’ve spoken about this before Roca… if you’re going to quote me, do it right. You forgot the, “And no Sony never said it would never have trophies” part. You didn’t even use ellipses… tsk, tsk.
“backfire”
?
I was just talking about the game I had and joking about it. Don’t “take it in” the wrong way
Yes.
November 30th, 2009
all I said was – “love the hate on GoW series
”. I didnt took it seriously and I was just joking around. then I quoted you
I didnt quoted – “And no Sony never said it would never have trophies” – because it doesnt make any sense and its superflous. Sony never said it will have trophies??? what does that even mean?
what game did you had?
November 30th, 2009
“one we know for sure is that Sony doesnt know write big checks for time exlcusive games..so why would they even bother on doing it for DLCs?”
@roca
are u sure abt that, i think i read somewhere that sony secured timed exclusivity for GTA 3 last gen
November 30th, 2009
@roca,
“And no, Sony never said it would never have trophies” is a sarcastic statement in the middle of a sarcastic post written in response to harry. They actually did say PS3 would not have trophies. Years later, it does.
