Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a hit, selling over 4 million copies total across all platforms. Unfortunately, many PS3 owners in North America have been experiencing some difficulty getting into a multiplayer match upon release of the game. Apparently Infinity Ward underestimated the demand for the game on the platform.

Microsoft recently dropped the ban hammer on nearly 1 million Xbox 360 owners. The ban comes down on owners who may have modified their Xbox 360 or played pirated games on the system. This is one of the biggest crackdowns on video game piracy in recent memory.

This summer saw a battle of motion-sensing controllers begin. At E3 2009 both Microsoft and Sony unveiled new systems designed to place gamers in the action and grab some of the casual gaming market from Nintendo. Sony is aiming to launch its effort in the spring of 2010, but details are still thin on the ground. However, details of Project Natal on the Xbox 360 have now leaked online.

As promised, I didn’t rush out and buy Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 on launch day. But millions of people did. In fact, so many people couldn’t wait even 24 hours to make the purchase that Modern Warfare 2 has now snatched the title of fastest-selling game of all time away from Grand Theft Auto IV.

With the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Sony planned an in-Home event to push the release of the game. The event is called “featured game party,†where gamers will gather to one place to talk and launch into online matches. The events will feature guest speakers, tangible prices and more.

Grand Theft Auto IV has one of the biggest DLC deals in video game history between Rockstar and Microsoft. The studio created two substantial DLC content exclusively for one platform, the Xbox 360. However, the word on the street is that the exclusivity around this content is set to expire very soon.

Killzone 2 was a huge hit on the PS3 earlier this year and kind of heralded a new dawn for the Sony console. Since then, the PS3 has been selling well and the number of exclusive games being released has increased. So what about Killzone 3? Surely that’s a shoe-in at this point in time. And it seems that’s correct, with the only question mark being over when it will actually appear.

Apart from me and a few other brave souls who will resist the hype and refuse to buy Modern Warfare 2, it seems the world and his dog are set to buy the game as soon as they possibly can. Pre-orders across the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 stand at 4.5 million and it looks as though the latest Call of Duty game could outsell Grand Theft Auto IV in its first week on sale to become the biggest ever launch of an entertainment product.

In a recent interview with the president of Gearbox, he called the guys at Valve fanboys for making negative comments towards the PS3. Other folks and developers have even taken notice of Valve’s amateurish actions. Will Valve apologize to the PS3 community or will it continue to act like fanboys?
