2009 is at an end, as is the decade that came to be called the naughties. It’s been a good 12 months for gamers, although not for the gaming industry. We recently unveiled the GOTY for 2009, but it’s now time to look forward to 2010. And with the games due out in the next 12 months, I certainly am.

We already knew Blorge readers were big gamers with good taste, and they’ve now proved that beyond all reasonable doubt with their votes for the Blorge Game of the Year 2009. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 took the prize, beating Uncharted 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2 into second and third place respectively by quite a margin.

Capcom, the major Japanese publisher/developer, has had a rocky experience off-shoring development to outside studios. It seems like the company has finally made up its mind as to what it will off-shore and what will be developed in Japan.

Assassin’s Creed II recently launched across the globe bringing in much acclaim. The game successfully transcends many of the barriers the first game faced. In tribute to the franchise, one fan made a high quality animated video of how Altair came to lose his finger.

With the recession impacting just about every company out there, Sony is trying to figure out ways to cut costs. One practice Sony has done in the past is keep distribution separate for Sony Computer Entertainment. This may all change soon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the biggest first person shooters of this year. One of the reasons as to why the game is so popular is due to the care Infinity Ward puts in to making the games as accurate as possible from the settings, scenarios and weapons. However, it seems like this may not completely be the case for Modern Warfare 2.

It feels as though we’ve been waiting in eager anticipation for a Final Fantasy VII remake for years now. And it probably has been that long. It was almost a year ago that I asked whether this most-requested game would ever actually become a reality. Maybe 2010 will hold a nice surprise in store.
