PS3 Bayonetta gets improvement with Sony’s help
The PS3 version of the Bayonetta demo dropped recently onto the PSN Store in the U.S. The Japanese version has been available for quite some time. An analysis done on the U.S. demo indicates that the version has been improved. The rumors that have been circulating is that Sony may have provided some assistance to SEGA.
The same Japanese folks who did the analysis between the Xbox 360 version and PS3 version of Bayonetta analyzed the latest U.S. demo. The results show some framerate improvements in the game, with the PS3 version averaging 34fps with highs in 56fps range. This is in comparison to the Japanese build which ran around 30fps and highs in the 44fps.
Albeit an improvement, it is still not equivalent to the Xbox 360’s 52fps. The rumor according to Gamekyo, is that SEGA and Platinum Games have asked Sony for help getting Bayonetta running up to par for the PS3. It’s always interesting to hear about these stories of Sony parachuting in super-trooper engineers to help out third party developers.

That’s why we all love Sony.

“Sony parachuting in super-trooper engineers to help out third party developers.”
Obscure architecture calls for extra measures I suppose… Naughty Dog needs to spread those tools around. To bad Sega couldn’t do this with the Saturn way back when… hmmph.

Is it because this game scored a perfect score for from Famitsu that Sony are coming to the rescue? The demo just was not that great.
December 7th, 2009
It’s like Devil May Cry …only crap lol
December 7th, 2009
Just played the demo today, and it kinda sucks. It’s too derivative of Devil May Cry, the camera sucks, and even the way the character runs annoyed me. A good effort but no cigar.
December 7th, 2009
haha. you can say Bayonetta BayoSucks
December 7th, 2009
Blowanetta?
December 7th, 2009
“It’s too derivative of Devil May Cry”
that may be because it is directed by Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe series creator Hideki Kamiya.
Wow, famitsu really gave the 360 version a perfect score huh? Sweet. Hopefully they can fix the problems on the PS3 version in time for release.

The thing is, Bayonetta got as popular as it is because of the inferior PS3 version… This is what caused it to become widely known and talked about in the internet. Hopefuly other developers dont use this as a tactic in order to get their games some attention.

vek:
Was so bad that they use this tactic and made a better a game for us PS3 owners with the help of our best friend Sony.
December 7th, 2009
Ivan, I don’t love sony and they are not even a friend never mind best friend. Never say that again. I feel sick at the thought!
December 7th, 2009
They can tweak the graphics all they want. It still won’t make the game good.

“Blowanetta”
close Blowanutta

Andrew_DS:
You can’t afford it that’s why stick with your garbage.
Barnabe Jones:
Give a try if it has awesome trophies or online.

Blowanutta hahahahaha, HOW COULD I MISS THAT OPTION!

the next couple of weeks will be great, Dante’s Inferno Demo drops on the PSN this Thursday. PixelJunk Shooters comes out the same day. GT5 Demo comes out the week after along with “Blue Toad Murder Files”.

Wow, so much hate for a game that got a perfect score from famitsu… I guess it would be different here if it was a PS3 exclusive… lol.

Blowmynutta

Carl b,
I doubt it. After all no one here is defending Lair. Also I can’t imagine that the critical response will be as positive from the Western reviews.

“Wow, so much hate for a game that got a perfect score from famitsu… I guess it would be different here if it was a PS3 exclusive… lol.”
what different would it makes. I have been a Socom fan since day one and Socom on the PS3 blows (maybe worst than “Blowmynutta” lol)
Nintendogs got perfect scores from famitsu?
December 7th, 2009
Bayonetta (is that her name?) is a Witch too…so she defenitely knows more than a few “blowing” spells
December 7th, 2009
Nintendogs was the best game EVER!!
December 7th, 2009
Case in point…
“Joining last month’s Bayonetta 40/40 score, this month’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii has been given a perfect score from Japanese game magazine Famitsu.
The publication has stated that just moving Mario around is amusing, co-op play is fun and single player is a good time as well.

Good point roca, though I haven’t personally cared to pick up a copy of nintendogs to verify their review… perhaps you could shed some light from when you played the title? Barnabe’s already chimed in. Other than that, their list seems pretty rock solid (though I would disagree with MGS4 the fanbait movie game, and am not sure about 428: In a Blockaded Shibuya), and they’ve only given 13 perfect scores in their history:
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, Nintendo, for Nintendo 64)
2. Soulcalibur (1999, Namco, for Dreamcast)
3. Vagrant Story (2000, Square Co., for PlayStation)
4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003, Nintendo, for Nintendo GameCube)
5. Nintendogs (2005, Nintendo, for Nintendo DS)
6. Final Fantasy XII (2006, Square Enix, for PlayStation 2)
7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008, Nintendo, for Wii)
8. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008, Konami, for PlayStation 3)
9. 428: Fūsa Sareta Shibuya de (2008, Sega, for Wii)
10. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (2009, Square Enix, for Nintendo DS)
11. Monster Hunter Tri (2009, Capcom, for Wii)
12. Bayonetta (2009, Sega, for Xbox 360)
13. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (2009, Nintendo, for Wii)
It seems the 1UP crew is having a blast with New Super Mario Bros. as well… at least according to their podcast and review:

Roca.:
SOCOM on PS3 is bad because Zipper Interactive did not make it. Once they make a proper one on PS3 themselves your mind will be back to adoring our beloved SOCOM series.
Nintendogs sucks…

I though FF12 was shit! I’m a massive FF fan as well, hugely disappointing! The story was too political, the main character shouldn’t have been the main character, there was no good story for him at all. In every other FF there is always a huge plot twist involving the main character:
-FF7: Cloud weren’t Soldier
-FF8: Squall childhood
-FF9: Zidanes alien beginnings
-FF10: Tidus is as real as Tara Reids lips lol.
Really couldn’t get in to 12 at all, I hope 13 is an improvement.
December 8th, 2009
I enjoyed the deviance of FF12 from the standard plot twist.
Don’t forget, that the FF series has followed a trend from day 1: Even numbered titles are usually experimental and a change from the norm, and odd numbered titles tend to stay closer to the formula developed in FF1.

I liked the demo, and if the demo is any indication of the full games its an early purchase for me. It’s coming out the same day as Darksiders and I’m also looking forward to that. I guess I’ll wait and see how the reviews go for the PS3 version as to access whether or not Sega and Sony got their shit together.
The fighting engine is brilliant BTW. On par if not better than DMC. I just wish there was a block button.
December 8th, 2009
Nice phranc, sounds like the spiritual successor to DMC… I loved those games.
OS1987,
I know man, I had the exact same gripes with Nintendogs… lol.
December 8th, 2009
I love DMC games. Not quite as much as the GOW series but a decent amount none the less. I just wish DMC4 would have been better. Fighting the same bosses 4 times was a bit much.
December 8th, 2009
Phranctoast,
I agree about the same bosses in DMC4 but I still enjoyed this game. It could have been better. I also really liked the music in this game.
December 9th, 2009
I also enjoyed it a lot. Nero’s glove was an awesome addition and made playing with him a great alternative to Dante.
December 9th, 2009
I only liked the first Devil May Cry.
December 10th, 2009
I only really liked the first Metal Gear Solid.
