Spike VGAs – most hyped game and game of the year
The Spike Video Game Awards show aired today with tons of new game announcements and awards handed out. It was great seeing the developers get the recognition that they deserve. It was also amusing to watch celebrities who have no clue what they are presenting jabber on stage.
I have to say that the two new game trailers that impressed me were Halo Reach and Spec Ops: The Line. Both games had stunning trailers showing lots of promise. Halo Reach revealed a band of Spartans including a female Spartan as well, taking off to locate some missing comrades. I would have to give Spec Ops the edge as far as the game I am most hyped for after watching the trailer. The gameplay looks amazing and the sand covered post apocalyptic Dubai theme has me intrigued as well.
A ton of great games were nominated at the show and many of them won as they should. During the finale, the game of the year award was given to Naughty Dog for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I suppose it makes sense for the highest rated game of the year to get the game of the year award. My hats off to Naughty Dog for a well crafted game and taking home three awards.

Most of the winners were pretty accurate this year. Well done Spike.
I do think that Batman: Arkham Asylum should of won best action game tho (ACII was good, but I thought Batman: Arkham Asylum was a better game)… Other then that, I really don’t have much objections.

Well I must agree Spec Ops looks pretty good. Halo Reach look very good to. I wish there was more to see but it is obvious this is not the same engine as it looks way better. Congrats to Unchartered 2 for their spike VGA GOY award.

I watched the Halo Reach trailer. Like always, the music is great. I really like the music of Halo and Gears of War.I hope Halo Reach is pretty good.
I’m looking forward to playing this as well Gow3, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Final Fantasy, Heavy Rain, Grand Turismo, Dante’s Inferno,Bayonetta,the next Gears, and Alan Wake(whenever these games come out).

I was really phyched for the Force Unleashed 2 announcement, although I guess it’s pretty expected as the first one sold very well.
Medal of Honor looked unbelievable.
Congrats to Uncharted 2. I guess that answers my question before as to how they vote on these games. I was lead to believe earlier that it was more of a user based voting system similar to the blorge poll in the corner in which U2 would never have beat out MW2. I’m glad it was based on which game was the best.

God of War III still most anticipated game, no surprise there.
Congrats to UC2 for taking GotY, best graphics, and best PS3 game. Also to Rocksteady (Batman AA) for getting Studio of the year, Modern Warfare 2 for best shooter and best multiplayer of the year, Microsoft/Chair for best downloadable game of the year with Shadow Complex, Forza 3 for best driving game of the year, and L4D2 as best 360 game of the year.

Halo Reach trailers looked really nice
(the metalic reflecting surfaces looked especially life-like, that’s extremely hard to pull off convincingly).
Still it was a cut scene and I am always wary of them.
I’m looking forward to the finished article in-game play scenes.

Just one last question (promise): I didn’t finish all of the quests in Loathering before it fell. Do I have to worry about other towns dying through out the coarse of the game?

No problem. Do not leave Redcliffe after speaking with Bann Teagan until you have fought off the darkspawn night attack… this is the last one until the Landsmeet, at which point you are just locked out of the towns (and certain areas are “destroyed”) except for endgame areas. Of course you can do things like side with the Werewolves to destroy/lock out certain areas (like the Brecilian camp).

Working off and on for the last few days. Sure beats dial-up and that god-awful satellite company who got us snagged in a 3 year contract that I clawed my way out of. Right after I got my speed doubled to a mighty 2mbps download/256kbps upload…

speedtest.net says I’m at 11mbps download/6.5mbps upload right now… I pay about $45.50/mo through Cox cable w/o contract… I hear the avg. Japanese connection speeds are somewhere between 50-90mbps… probably not on Okinawa though.

Sorry to change topic but wow did you see the finale to season 4 of Dexter. Wow I was not expecting that. I Thought that it was going to end on a low note, which never really happens but then wow did they throw a curve ball. I can’t believe we now have to wait till September just to see season 5. I just love the Dexter series I just have to go back and see season 1 now.

Sorry, stopped reading your post when you mentioned Dexter, as I just started watching the series from season 1 a few days ago (on season 2 episode 7 now) and I didn wan’t any spoilage, hah.
Fucking brilliant show. I didn’t realise it was a Showtime show, or I would have started watching it a long time ago (Love the showtime shows: Weeds, Californication, United States of Tara and now Dexter).
Anyway, probably gonna be plugged into that and infamous/GoW collection for the next little while. This is my first time sitting at my computer in a few days, heh.

I started with season 2 and I always wanted to watch season 1 but just never got around to it. You don’t need to start with 1 as they are each good within it’s own but you will be missing back story but they do give the back ground before each show even if it means giving background from previous seasons but I do recommend starting form season 1. Jofa I agree Dexter is birlliant and I will buy this collection for sure. Is it on Bluray because I know it’s on DVD?

I borrowed the first 3 seasons on BD, and downloaded season 4 through torrents. Dexter is not available here until about 6mo after it gets aired in the US, same as all my other Showtime favourites, heh. I have the channel package that includes the canadian showtime shows, so I’ll prob watch them again in the new year

Season 1 has sloppy writing, btw CAD, since you have already watched starting season 2, it would probably be painful to watch, heh. Most shows mature over time, and first seasons are often somewhat shitty in retrospect, so it is forgivable, considering how awesome the show is. Really looking forward to finishing it up this week.

Get TMN it’s on there and you wouldn’t have to wait for Showtime. And the best thing about TMN if you have Rogers is that TMN On Demand comes with the package so you can go watch it anytime you want. They have all the shows. Weeds, Californication, United States of Tara, Dexter, Entourage, curb your entusiam, Hung, True Blood and more. You also get HBO Canada with it too.

Actually Happy, the finale to season 4 aired last night. Watched it this morning, it had a good ending. Speaking of which I have a good mind to blurt out the ending and spoil it! I have had like 3 games spoiled from this site beacue of fucking assholes who think it’s funny to ruin something for sombody. Luckily I’m not going to stoop to their level. I would say to check it out happy, and if you do I would reccommend starting from the 1st season.

Hung is hilarious. It’s about this guy who is have just about everything go wrong in his life and goes to a how to be a millionare series and meets this girl how he banged before and somehow it all winds up that he become a male jigalo and she become his pimp. Mind you she is not a real pimp so everyone is amature. The show is completely Hilarious. The first season aired earlier this year.
Well season Finale of Californication tonight I think.

6.5mb upload is a nice speed to have CarlB, I bet you fit in nicely with some sharing networks with a connection that fast uploading.
I have 18mb down but only 1.2mb up, much better than it once way (28kbps up, yuck!) but you still end up hanging around for quite a while giving back at least what you took.

LOL Jofa. Reminds me of the first time I heard the word “vagina”. I yelled out “REGINA?!” really loud and my friend had to correct me. Thus, until the rampage was stopped, I thought that Vagina was the capital of Saskatchewan.
You forgot one thing, however. Saskatchewan is the easiest place in the world to draw, yet among the seemingly most difficult to spell and pronounce. Thus, we are undeniably awesomer.
