EA still wants Tiger Woods for PGA Tour Golf games despite recent woes

EA still wants Tiger Woods for PGA Tour Golf games despite recent woes Unless you live under a rock in the middle of a Monty Python sketch then you’ll know that Tiger Woods isn’t having a good time of things at the moment. Amidst allegations of serial adultery, he had a strange car crash and then announced he was taking a sabbatical from golf. What has this got to do with gaming? Not much, except that EA pay the man a bucketload of cash to endorse its annual PGA Tour Golf games.

Tiger Woods is a rich man, not only from his golfing exploits but from his various advertising and endorsement deals. Some of the companies that have been using Woods to sell their products have fired him amidst the current allegations heading his way. But EA is sticking to its guns, telling IncGamers it has no intention of letting him go.

We respect that this is a very difficult, and private, situation for Tiger and his family. At this time, the strategy for our Tiger Woods PGA TOUR business remains unchanged.

However, that statement has already changed from the one issued a week ago when GI.Biz reported EA as saying:

Our strong relationship with Tiger for more than a decade remains unchanged. We respect Tiger’s privacy, we wish him a fast recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on the golf course.

The important difference is that Tiger now isn’t going to be back on the golf course anytime soon. So is it right for him to be endorsing a golf game based on the current season? To be honest, I don’t care; as long as the game is good then I’ll buy it, whether Tiger is on the front looking smug or not.

Like he made his name for anything else but being an incredible golf player.

Tiger Wood’s problem is that all along he shut out the tabloid press.
They just sharpened their pencils and waited and waited and now they have a sex story on him and are doing their best to tear him to shreds –
amongst the sort of fools who live a vicarious life through the scandal sheets.

His sponsors might even start dropping him if it carries on.
Pity for him and his family & friends.

Still, I guess with is billions $ he could give a f*ck.

I hope he brazens it out whatever happens in his private life, f*ck those nosey tabloid b@stards.
What he does in his marriage, bedroom (or whoevers bedroom) is nobody else’s business but those it concerns directly.

The whole ‘cult of celebrity’ is one great dumb pointless diversion.

He screwed up majorly. I mean, he has the hottest wife in the world, and he cheats? If she is THAT horrible, just divorce her. If you don’t want to be confined to 1 woman, don’t get married, that simple.

They are a bit harsh on him. The media is making this into some tragedy, just like they do to every celebrity. How a car crash suddenly turned into all this BS over every single news station, I don’t know.

Tiger Woods PGA is one of my more liked sports games, though. Not as repetitive as others, and more strategic.

    He’s got the jungle fever.

I don’t think it matters about his personal life. He is still one of the greatest golfers ever. I think people just get too obsessed with celebrities. Afterall, they are just human like we are. They just tend to have more money to burn than most people due.

  5. SW:

Its genetics man. Tiger, like all men is programmed to spread his seed as wide as he can.

‘Mans just tryin’ to spread that seed.

  6. harry sachz:

Indeed. His sponsors should keep his personal life separate from his professional life. These women obviously gave him some golfing super-powers.

  7. CON:

I don’t think it makes a dif if he’s playing or not because Colin McRae still sells well.

I know he’s taking time off to make things up with his wife but she’s a fucking moron if she takes him back.

  8. phranctoast:

Tiger is finally interesting. I couldn’t give two shits about golf on way or another, but I think I’ll watch now. Maybe he’ll have his own white girl cheerleading section. They can we known as tigers cubs. ;)

  9. JofaMang:

His personal life wouldn’t be such a big deal, if the Tiger branding didn’t occur beneath a banner of virtues and perfection.

    @CON
Colin Mcrae is dead, not disgraced. He was also a far more interesting and compelling personality than Tiger ever was.

What’s the difference between a Cadillac Escalade and a golf ball?

What does Tiger Woods have in common with a baby seal?

They’ve both been clubbed by a Norwegian.
